👍 Nice overview. I recently went through the same process and came to many of the same conclusions. I agree fit is crucial in a shotgun we will be happy with. I bought 2 guns; a used 12 gauge AyA Yeoman a new 20 gauge CZ Bobwhite G2. Thus far I am pleased with both.
We are about to get one of these free from the state , we have two disabled kiddos. How long does it take to charge ? We already have a jackery but it takes forever to charge. ?
I'm not sure about getting a free one? Charging times vary depending on the charger. 14 hours with the standard charger, 3 hours with a 600 watt charger. Remember, when charging Lithium ion batteries, the point of diminished returns is at about 80%. After that, charging slows considerably. Thanks for watching👍
Nice job!!!! Old habits are hard to break and we in the east tend to strip retrieve all of our fish........ that one should have been on the reel!!!! And netted. 👊🏼👍🏼🤙🏼
These guns were made for use with a sling, although many didn't come with the required swivels. The rear swivel is pretty straight-forward. Drill out a pilot hole at the rear of the stock (not too far back) and thread it in. The front swivel location is actually in the barrel shroud itself. Look just forward of the fore end and you'll see what appears to be a small filler screw. This can be removed and replaced with a front swivel of the proper thread size. Reproductions of swivel sets for these guns (swivel mounting on the 8 and the 81 are exactly the same) are available on-line for a fairly reasonable price. Keep in mind that the TPIs on the screws for these guns can be non-standard, so a DIY is not recommended. Sometimes you'll see a gun where some poor miscreant has installed a sling swivel in the forearm. This is a NO-NO. The fore end isn't designed to take the weight. It's often done, but it's always wrong. I've seen both kinds of reproduction sling sets made for these guns, one with the standard 1"/1 1/4" loop and one that can use a quick disconnect. Your choice.
So to speak on the part about water temps and depths. I just got this depth gauge with a thermometer build in. You attach it to the end of your line then drop it down until it hits bottom then wait 30 seconds and pull it up. Whatever the water is up to inside the housing is the approximate depth plus it tells the temp on the bottom. It’s a pretty snazzy tool for like 10 bucks
Another great video abt side by side shotguns. The US people are mad abt semi-auto but you like side by side very much. Please make more videos abt side by side. Thanks.
Great video about Browning Citori.....also great pics of your wife with the kid at the back..just mind blowing. Please make some old Citori shotgun video. Thanks.
Great video…reloading is pretty much spot on to what y’all are talking about. There are some “basics/fundamentals” that you should adhere to but outside of that it’s personal preference.
@@MaineOutdoorEnthusiast once you start you’ll be stuck with another time consuming hobby 🤣…I started back around 2015 and it’s an obsession at this point. I really enjoy it and there’s something therapeutic about making my own ammo.
Another great discussion Paul, These videos will become priceless to you one day. I sure wish I could have had some video discussions with my dad, just to look back on and reminisce..
Well, right or wrong muscles don't have memory but your body does lay down new neural pathways and once learned you don't loose that wiring that runs to your muscles, you can build and loose muscle, it comes and goes. Muscle doesn't have memory. On a long troll and a big bass on I will crank it in on my fly rod but other than that I pull in the line and it was tough switching to left hand cranking from my life time of fishing garden hackle.
Muscle memory is a term that is used to describe pretty much what you explained- the development of new neuronal pathways between your central nervous system and your muscles through repetition that results in the ability of the body to perform certain motor tasks without conscious thought. Understanding the different branches of the nervous system (central vs peripheral (autonomic/somatic) and how they work together helps this make more sense. It's essentially fine tuning the connections so such motor movements are solely controlled by the basal ganglia (subcortical nuclei). Sorry, I couldn't help myself...I like physiology😁
I learned to reel with my right hand on the old zebco, switched to left hand reel when I started using spinner reels, and when I started trolling with lead core and down riggers, left felt weird so those rods are right handed, but my trolling fly rods are left handed. I feel like if the reel is under the rod it feels natural for me to reel left, but if the reel is on top I reel right. Not sure why that is.
Great video guys, being left handed ( to write) I do everything else right handed. I never notice but everyone else does. Everything being designed to break is a real thing, I may have a problem but my newest daily driver for work is a 2003 which was only because it was a smoking deal, other than that all the rest of the rigs are 30+ years old but they are simple to work on and parts are available. The simple ways of life may be where we end up soon and are a great way to reset from the rat race everyone is caught up in.
Glad you enjoyed it! I’ll have to say, I e been thinking about my next vehicle being something older. Some might feel like that would be a step backwards…but I just don’t have much faith in the new stuff😳.
@@MaineOutdoorEnthusiast what I’ve noticed over the years at least since the last 3-4 years is the at anything that’s Tacoma sized will sell for way too much money compared to a full size truck say a 3/4-1 ton. Personally we have slowly been gathering the same old diesel trucks to keep parts, repairs, and knowledge of them the same. This has been over the years obviously but I still find them to this day for under $10,000 and for a truck that can work, it’s cheap on insurance, cheap to repair, and being an old diesel it can run on vegetable oil that we filter and setup specific fuel systems on the truck. This also works on the old diesels but “they” don’t want you to know because the new cars are so much more efficient! lol In bone stock form I have a 96 3/4 ton truck that runs at 24 mpg, has AC and costs $100 to register. I’ve never had a car payment and dont ever plan to. Great video that was too long of a reply on my end!
Really cool topic guys. My experience with this has to do with shooting. When I was a kid I discovered I am left eye dominant but always shot right handed. A friend pointed out that I was tilting my head so I could hold the gun right handed but look down the sight with my left eye. I couldn’t figure out the whole left handed thing so I just taught myself to shut either eye and now I shoot right handed with my right eye haha
Rick Barry 90 percent career free throw shooter underhand most accurate in NBA history when he retired and no one has done it since. You think Shaq would of tried it for a while atleast he had nothing to lose lol. Bird scored 47 the left handed game, unreal right. Im right hand and throw right handed, shoot right handed, but i kick left footed and play hockey left handed. I say fish however makes you comfortable as long as your catching fish its fine. I cant wait for you guys moose hunt, going to be exciting!! Hope all is well Paul!!
I know this will be good! As long as it's legal, It's fine! I retrieve with my left on spinning and right on baitcasting, don't do much fly fishing! The only thing I am ambidextrous on is drinking a 12oz curl! Please don't throw logic in there! If it feels good, do it! I want to know if you get more hats!!! If you are in the correct area, Dolly Parton will send books to children free! A gun that fits you is MUCH better than a gun that doesn't fit!!!!! I shot trap when I was younger, and fit means a LOT!!!! Mark, You WOULD notice a difference if you had a gun fitted to you! Guys, Good luck on the moose scouting!!!
You can order SAGE blanks from rod building and tackle craft companies (such as mudhole.com) that sell rod building materials. You could probably even call SAGE and get your hands on a blank.
@MaineOutdoorEnthusiast I showed my wife the video and she got a laugh out of Lacey's response when you were talking about who would mail the package. Marriage is definitely a partnership. My wife would be the one mailing it out as well. Please tell Lacey thank you.
"I will, just like usual. " 🤣🤣🤣 Well Paul, I forgot my fly vest when we went up to Chamberlain a couple years ago so don't feel bad lol. What a smart loon, swimming right under the boat after splashing, the buggah lol. I really enjoyed yoyr editing on this one. Looking forward to more. I'm jealous, haven't been fishing yet this year, so I'll enjoy the drink through your videos in the meantime. Take care.
Thanks Danielle! It's a terrible feeling when you realize you forgot something😂. The loons will literally follow you around the pond, crazy. We might be having roast loon one of these days. Hope you get out fishing soon!
I'm late with my comment, was on vacation this week! Congrats Mark, I know what you mean about getting the name wrong! I have the same scope on my 742, I bought the gun and scope in 76! Another Great podcast!
I have no idea what scope your talking about. Leupold has 4 or 5 variations of this scope in just the last 2 years. The Leupold website and official RU-vid channel give no details and contradict each other regarding functionality. Did you just role the dice and spend $400+ then hope for the best when the package arrived? I guess my concerns are mute. Leupold is likely to discontinue this model next year anyway. Leupold is kinda like Netflix in the way they abrubtly cancel their best series for no apparent reason. I appreciate your thorough review but Leupold needs to get their marketing together. I'm scared to order anything from Leupold nowadays.
This scope on my 7400 was purchased about 15 yrs ago. It’s a popular model that a lot of deer trackers use in the Northeast. I did not buy the scope blindly, I was quite familiar with it. I just bought another one about a month ago for another gun. I don’t recall there being many variations on that particular model when I ordered it. Stay tuned.
Just fantastic. Looks like a great time and brings back memories of my trip in the spring. As I have mentioned many of times, you are very fortunate to get to enjoy trips, moments and make memories with your dad. Looking forward to watching more. Regards Mark
