I'm a National Geographic explorer and contributing photographer.
I do most of my work in tropical rainforests, where I shoot conservation stories. I created this channel in order to show you the behind the scenes of my adventures.
I hope you enjoy this content.

Nice ! Will it fit in an airplane overhead bin ? That's always the issue when carrying lots of gear for expeditions. 55 cm height supposed to be the max. Last trip, I used a simple Quechua backpack fitted with an insert from a Lowepro, super comfortable in the field but the fit was not perfect and the double zipper was quite a hassle. Thks for sharing your experience and gear list
Hi! I understand the Backlight Elite 45L might be too big for some airlines, but I never had an issue. Nobody even looked at the bag at check in, so it went very smoothly. Also, I should have mentionned in the video that the hip belt and top pouch are removable, so it makes the bag look much smaller. Putting an insert in a "normal" bag is def an option - a lot of photographers do that - but I've never needed to do that.
@@thomas.nicolon thank you. I got my bag weighted once by Air France and then it became a little hairy :-) I probably had 17kg and my son 14 kg. We were going to Borneo... Made it to the plane eventually but it was touch and go. Agree with you usually on long haul flights no problem. Different story with low cost airlines... I've seen bad situations at the airport with the dreaded "boxes" they use to measure luggage at check-in. I need a new bag but size is THE issue for flying
Very informative video, thank you! Looking forward to your next behind the scenes, I really enjoy these. Not gonna lie, I was a bit nervous when I saw you crossing the water with your camera at your side 😂
Hi Thomas. We met in Epéna in July (the two guys from Switzerland), do you remember? Since I saw your photos, I've been thinking about giving up photography 🙂...Your work is wonderful and very important!
The Republic of Congo is a peaceful country Most of the world refers Congo as a war zone but it isn't The war is happening in the east of the Democratic Republic of congo or DRC not in the Republic of Congo
Hi! There are no safety issues in the Republic of Congo. The instability you're refering to is in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), the neighboring country.
It’s long been proven that those face mask don’t prevent transmission. They’re more for show than anything else. You would need a gas mask to stop transmission
I just discovered you here on RU-vid. Beautiful content! It inspires me. I live in Australia (Sydney) and have a heart for the beautiful nature here. I just came back from a trip in the tropical Northern part of Australia (Cairns). I'm very keen to see what you will explore and document!
Thanks so much, I really appreciate your comment. It’s not easy to find time to shoot some behind the scenes when I’m on assignment, so I don’t post here as much as I’d like, but I’ll try to post more. I have a fun Congo video coming up: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-qFk8FTl6sHs.htmlsi=8rfB-W4H5QrK434M
