The foods can last longer than a year. I have opened bags from 7 years ago and they were fine. Except for beans like pinto beans. They last about a year or two, then they get super hard and take forever to cook. Yes, for the smaller bags, one oxygen absorber should be fine.
So Here is my expert level of Break down of tips In the Video you had the bag upright when sealing the bag And no firm way to having the bag with the least amount of air before sealing Lay the bag down Get a piece of wood across the bag while zip locking The Absorbers are actually for the small amounts that get trapped in the foods And Mirco spaces ......30 years As side from Brown rice. Tip#2 Parboiled rice takes less time and energy to cook and eat It also last 30 years And you can add seasoning and dried goods (dill celery other) into the same bag Even dried meats But note some meats even dried do not last 30 years Recommend 1 - 4 years in a dry area If you are at the level of buying Mylar bags You need to take the right step And get a vacuum sealer Some machines do not work on Mylar However their is a way to do it And it is shown on youtube with "mylar sealing" "Canadian Prepper" channel ..It is simply tricking the machine to thinking you are using normal bags that come with it ..By cutting a few strips And placing them in the mylar bag sticking out to have a port for air to come out Then you seal it with a flat hair iron Tip#3 People living in Highrise Apartment buildings (More than 3 stories) Your biggest prep should be water storage If/Went power go's out Buildings have electrical pumps for water This after the power is out The reservoir gets empty And the water pressure drops People will still flush And use the water till there is nothing This happened many years back with the East coast of North America had a 3-day outage You are going to wish that parboiled tip worked with some water...... Tip #4 Dont worry about the size of your Mylar bags Bigger is always better Why? Well for me i bag my goods into 3 or 4 sealer bags as a meal Or kit. To one Mylar bag Then seal that as well You can always cut the mylar bag smaller and iron it But you can not make it bigger You can also pour in 1/4 rice in the bag Vacuum it And seal it with the iron At the bottom. Open the top of the bag Add in Another food ( Dried beans) to the halfway mark And vacuum seal it repeat 4 layers of food one bag And you can cut them into 4 small bags of sealed food These bags also can be used as food bowls when you add in hot water to rehydrated dried foods And teas etc .
Nope. What he just did will be good for 15 plus years at least. I do recommend you store in 5 gallon buckets or some kind of strong container for extra protection
PROTIP: Hit the Back-To-School sales and pick up some zipper binders. They have a nice cloth covering (usually nylon) and pockets and pouches everywhere inside and out. Most importantly, they zip shut, so when you grab your binder and go, you won't have all your documents randomly flying out and blowing away in the wind (which always happens at THE worst time possible... when it's an Emergency and you're in a HURRY to grab it and GO). Another thing you can use a zipper-binder for is a sort of Gray-Man prepping tool. If you're going to school or commuting, nobody looks twice at a standard school backpack... and nobody thinks even once about a organized binder being in a common student backpack. IN that binder you can use a bunch of those zipper pouches (like pencil pouches, etc), in combination with more complex pouches, such at baseball card collecting, stamp collecting, or coin collecting pouches, so you can organize Preps within your binder. At the office-supply store you can get Subject dividers for your binder to make it easy to quickly get to exactly the Preps you need at any given moment. Get colored tabs or clear, so you can print labels based on The Urban Prepper's "Colors of Prepping" color-codes (if you want to be that nerdy/OCD about it, that is). You can have all your preps, organized, in your backpack, with nobody knowing about it or wondering and asking questions. How will you use your Prepper Binder?
If you live in South Africa, pick up one of these lethal, easy to use, fast and reliable Tactical Repeating Crossbows; ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-a_wGDu-uFpw.html
I just purchased the cobra and I will let you know how it compares against your crossbow and what you tested. I subscribed to your channel. I think in this crazy times it's right to prepare
No the contents of the Mylar bag if properly packed and sealed can last for years. I opened up a bucket of pasta I packed 7 years ago, stayed fresh as the day I packed it. apartmentprepper.com/opening-up-a-seven-year-old-pasta-bucket/
How could it deflate overnight? You didn't sleep on it. There was no weight to force the air out! Also how about a sleep test? I have tested some air mattresses that I can't fall asleep on. What about this pad can you sleep sound and comfortable all night long? That's a critical part of a review and you didn't do it!
I got the first generation without the stock. I like the one without the stock, because it's more nimble and lighter, meaning that you can maneuver it around faster if you need to. The stock it cool, but serves no purpose.
I still have my first generation steel model too. I put on the 80lbs from a Cobra I ordered for spare parts. I also fastened a sturdy black plastic pipe over the stock cocking lever held in place by a rubber sleeve from an old treadmill. So now due to modified length and leverage, the rate of fire on my AR-6 is easy and fast. Solid. Standard 6.5 aluminum arrows penetrate one side of a Bustelo Coffee can and through the other from about 22 yards accurately. So powerful even the plastic fins ripped through the can. And those Bustelo cans are very solid metal. Indeed, AR-6 is a legit home defense tool.
I am waiting for my order being sent out around the end of November, so in the meantime i am binging every AR-6 video posted on RU-vid. I made a practice target from a synthetic shopping bag filled with cardboard, the logo on the bag is the face of a young sailor which is kinda funny and useful at the same time. I'll be using it plain out of the box before considering sights and lasers, i want to get a good feel for the basic setup. I might get the customization kit and spray the parts metallic orange which is my favorite. I hope there will be no shipping delays cause i can barely wait.
@@TheIcemanModdeler I got one, make sure you order some rail lube with it, you'd be surprised how fast your strings will wear out with a repeating crossbow. I like it, but it is designed for medium range shooting, so if you want to shoot long range you might want to look for a different crossbow. It is very safe to use, i like not having to manually load the bow with the string cocked. I would suggest getting a different foregrip since the standard foregrip feels a bit loose. Scopes are a bit overkill, you rather want a holographic sight if you are looking for accessories, again best used for medium range.
@@larocdokarnap3227 Cool, i also have been binging every video on it so i have an idea, Jorge's channel is the best for it. I'm getting it for home defense but also shooting it for fun so it think it's the best compromise. Jorge did a video what is the best for home defense and the small stinger crossbow is better for it's size but i also want to shoot at medium range. The 90 lbs arm will also increase the shooting distance but i will try it with the 55 one it comes with, thought it came with lube, will get some if it doesn't. Got an airsoft gun with a foregrip and a red green dot sight so i will use those, heard you can make the foregrip tighter by using a screw or something instead of just twisting the bottom knob. The foregrip on my airsoft gun is very tight. Will also get some broad arrows with it just for home defense, don't think i'll ever use it but it will be nice to have. How you u decock the weapon? Heard u can damage the bow if u dryfire. Can u cock it again and remove the arrow on it?
Well, going to get my Stinger 2 next month, and i've seen someone using a massive bundle of cleaning cloth inside a plastic bag for target practicing... It's a cheap alternative vs. professional foam/other material targets, arrows shouldn't get damaged by it in any way, and you only need some duct tape for "repairing" it after the shooting.
@@apartmentpreppers I have a 20 pound clothing bag too, in use as a target. Works good with standard bolts and even with hunting tips. Bolts won't get damaged. U can get those bags for few bucks on Amazon or ebay
The guy shooting is weak. He uses his leg to help to cock the crossbow. Hilarious. He doesn't know you must grip the stock at its end. The far your hand goes to the back of crossbow stock the easy to pull to cock. Regarding to cons: _Bolts can be lost or damaged._ Are you kidding? Bolts are like bullets. The mindset is you lose them. Maybe you're lucky to recover the bolts more than you recover the bullet, but it is also possible to recover a bullet. So, that is not an item for cons, since it is a gameplay rule.
There are much cheaper standard bolts and also broadheads on amaz fitting to the stinger. Also the bodkin bolt of steambow is worth considering (no alternative found so far) they are bit pricy but the really punch it through.
You won't need a ton of those bodkins. You can use cheapy bolts for target practice; I found the included blue bolts similar enough to the bodkins for practicing. Just keep a couple of speedloaders' worth on hand for "the real deal". They do pack a punch. I have the Stinger 2 with the 90 lb limbs, and shooting at a proper xbow target (really dense foam) the bodkins go in up to the fletching. For comparison, I cannot manage to push them in even half that distance by hand. This definitely is a viable self defense weapon in case you don't have access to firearms.
I have 2 of these and use razor sharp hunting arrows . The bow just for fun will fire a pencil 3 inches through a 1/4 inch plywood panel at 5 ft. yes a pencil. A weapon that is very quiet also and not to be taken lightly.
I'd use generic shortening instead; the smell of bacon could attract unwanted attention from people or animals or it could be used to flavor the boring rice and beans people are told to stock up on. I'd have to be super desperate, not too mention I rarely have extra bacon grease since I use it to cook with routinely.
It's true but I take exception to the fact you held the paper differently from the first run which even if sharp it wouldn't have cut the paper, the rerun after your sharpening was done with the extra finger on both sides holding the paper which if done dull may have cut but it would have been jagged and not clean like the sharpened try. Just saying from what it shows there is no way to know if knife was sharp or not even a sharp knife would have had a hard time trying to cut if held just from the one side.
I hadn't realized I had yet to subscribe to your RU-vid channel! My internet connection has been wonky lately but I'll get to the rest of your vids soon. The self-inflating air pad vid was good. Guess I was missing out not watching! Thanks for making them.
