Matt and Mike have been building 4x4s for the last 25 years and while they agree on what makes a great 4x4, they don't agree on the best way to get there. Matt bleeds Ford blue and is convinced the bronco is the best 4x4 platform made (even more exciting with the new bronco coming!). He's been building and driving early broncos since he was a kid.
Mike doesn't understand how anyone can't see that the Jeep is the reigning champion of the off road and proves it with his modified 2020 EcoDiesel Rubicon.

Did you find out any more info on this problem? Have other people had this problem? kind of scary since I go out in the back country a lot and I’ve had one issue with my bronco raptor at about 3000 miles or the lines that run to the front axles one of the lines was cracked and hitting about 50 mph the axle was trying to connect with made a very loud metal to metal rubbing noise, The dealer had it for five days I actually had to go into the dealer myself talk to the mechanic tell him what to look for then he found the crack it was an easy fix but a hassle but what happened to you would be a bit scary out in the back country. 👍
If you remove the beauty ring to be painted or powder coated, then reinstall it, does the wheel need to be balanced again or would it be fine? Same question if you add the beadlock ring do you balance the wheel again?
I like the Ford beadlocks but……$1,000 for 5 metal rings and a bag of bolts?!?!?!?!? OUCH! That’s a pretty big “Bronco Tax”. Those things should cost like $100 each.
Hi Matt. GREAT video. Thank you. QUESTION - I already put a 1" Rough Country leveling kit on my non-sasquatch black diamond (before viewing your great video). I believe in your video you say that it's better to use spacers both front and back in non-sasquatch. Is that correct? Last question - After the 1" leveling kit, it sits about 1" higher in the front (with 3 spacers in the front). With that being said, I'd like to order another kit and throw 1 or 2 spacers in the back to level it out. Do you see any issue with that? If not, would you recommend 1 or 2 spacers? Thank you!!
Thanks for sharing. I was on a trail w UBB when my Bronco 2022 started leaking coolant. Nobody could figure it out. Took it to a mechanic and all he did was replace the cap!!! Faulty cap. Ford doesnt want to reimburse me for that mishap!
A really good post. Actually it’s not, it’s a brilliant post. With modifications, one has to be very careful. There are many issues to consider. Usually the easy and quick fixes are not the best. Usually the gremlins that trip you up are the ones you never even considered. Thank you.
Great vid i knew what beadlocks were but couldn't understand how something could be beadlock capable. Know , being how beadlock wheels are not legal for street use in most states i think its kind of a stupid option that ford put on. Seems like alot of work for a afternoon of fourwheeling. I wish I saw this video a few days earlier I made a fool out of myself when I took my bronco to tire shop for a flat tire I told the guy I had bead lock wheels if he had experience with that type of wheel then it tuned out they are just a beauty ring on them smh
"No ETA" = sounds like every other part in the Ford parts catalog. Ford's service parts organization is an utter mess. Sorry this happened and hope your part comes in sooner than later.
Great video. I have a 2 door and my wife has a 4 door. We go to Austin for this in September. Hopefully they put me in a 2 door and my wife in a 4 door for the day.
where is the additional suspension travel coming from? the fox shocks? better axles/diffs? UCAs? I don't want to jump my badlands sas, but more articulation would be nice
