.GW shows a revenue of 7.4 billion .Where's all those billions going? To the communities? HaHa! Where's the information that they are giving it to needy people and just causes. Why haven't I heard GW helping out ex: pet shelters, the homeless, mental health, free food for the poor, senior services, etc? Show me the proof.!!! Disgusting!
Some people I unsubscribe from because they over do it with the daily videos. They need to learn quality, not quantity. Like Lavender Clothesline, she does one a week, it's longer, informative, entertaining, and enjoyable. I'm tired of those "I made this much money on ebay" - "Sold this, listed that". Old saying, Those who can - do. Those who can't - teach. Too many wanna be doers on the tube.
Im friends with the owner and runner of nikkis i walk by every day cuz i go to the liqour store next to it. It was closed around then because he was very ill. Much better now
Local GWs here have no handicapped employees. That used to be their motto. Past few years only grouchy staff at all levels. Not sure their mission anymore. Seems many resellers on this list are as greedy as GW.
I never go to Goodwill or donate anything to them. They get everything free. Sure they hire a few people. That doesn't mean anyone makes money except the owner of Goodwill. You need to go to real thrift stores and garage sales.
So, a store to help liw income is now a store that lines it's own pockets.. I think that they donate to a few charities, but Goidwill is still getting rich.. just doesn't seem right..
Most people don't realize that Google is profiting off of their stuff. This honestly makes me sick to watch. Pre pandemic, Goodwill was still decent, but I noticed their glass case having way more "higher priced" items that really weren't worth what they were asking. I haven't bothered to go there in 4 years bc the last time I went it looked like Dollar Tree. All new mass produced Chinese stuff and a few knick knacks.
Thank you for this video. Goodwill will not be getting any of my stuff again. I will be giving it to women’s shelters and other charities where nobody has to buy it.
Goodwill Retail Services - Expenses totaled $134 million with the largest expense reported to be compensation. 6,362 employees received $68 million in compensation (an average of $11,000 which indicates many part-time employees). 14 employees received more than $100,000 in compensation with the highest being $728,982: Jacqueline Hallberg, President and CEO.
I would use Goodwill auctions more, but they absolutely ROB YOU BLIND on shipping, and to add insult to injury, HANDLING. An example would be buying an old magazine that should cost less than $5 to ship via media mail. But they use FedEx, list the shipping weight as 6 lbs, and charge $4 handling. So for a magazine you bought for $8, they tack on $22 or so, and just pocket the difference. I will only buy things on Goodwill auctions that I can pick up from my local branch, because even if I drive to the next county over, that one still charges handling fees! It's borderline criminal. They would sell a lot more if they fixed these unethical practices.
It’s clear this is a convoluted money laundering scheme. I’ve heard they just move their money around from store to store stating it’s being used for “educational” expenses etc etc, until the money is swallowed up and disappears. Very clever, but disgusting. Never heard of a single person getting any kind of help from Goodwill.
I give to Goodwill all the time and will continue to do so. The best thing I donated was an authentic Currier & Ives print that a horrible house cleaner ruined. I have several more C&I prints but someone got a great piece, even if they did not have the picture restored. I hope they got what they wanted and I hope Goodwill got a very good return on my donation. Goodwill is a business and I expect them to act accordingly.
MESA AZ store homeless young man stealing beverage water cup, kicked out by manager & Mormon chaplain (customer). Guy was gone before I could buy cup for him. Homeless need socks
If you get a good deal on their site, it was because the pros had an off day. Im a collector and i stopped looking because it was always going too high.
he couldn’t look directly into the camera when he gave out the PR mission answer, cause even he knew that wasnt true……he’s a good man, hope he gets a better job soon…..
Out of any online shopping sites, Shop Goodwill is for me the best. Always a selection, often pricing less that what I would pay through other sites. Thank you
Fantastic video! This is a subject I've often wondered about because I have donated some pretty nice items to Goodwill. I've always wondered what actually happens to the things I donate. Do the people that work there get first dibs. Does some of the good stuff actually just get stolen by the employees. Do all the items stay in the store they're donated to. I guess this video has answered a lot of those questions.
Im not sure if Goodwill is the largest shady one but my personal experience, yes. The 2nd one is Deseret Industries. DI goes into the tabernacle kitty.
As a reseller I can say: 1) these are the videos I've been looking for (tired of people just filming finding stuff) 2) I stopped getting inventory from goodwill and the bins when the employees told me they sort everything before it's put on the floor
I only donate to local thrift stores/charity shops where I know the work they do for the community. I never find things at GW anymore, and pricing is too high as they gouge their customers now. I can actually get better priced and lower priced quality items at antique stores and estate sales, and that's where I focus now as a collector and reseller. I feel sorry for the general community who relies on lower priced thrift stores to clothe their family and provide for them because the higher prices are leaving a gap for those with insecurities instead of supporting them.
I can shop at the mall or stores like Ross TJ Maxx etc cheaper now! Makes me sick and the good wills around here in SoCal biggest name brand is now Forever 21😡
Face it . America has been picked , fliped and sorted so many times over the last four years . Someone else found it baby . Besides . You probably already have one and don't even know it .
Really surprised they let you record this and with some of their sadly honest answers. I don't find resellers greedy, I am one. Everywhere resells and makes more money. It's not greedy to run a business and buy an item and sell it for more. That's business. Any store, restaurant or business that has a product be it a big corporation or a small guy trying to get by online/at flea markets/events will do just that. It's understandable. What's insane to me here though is that they get their inventory for FREE and then in most cases intend to get the most buck they can for it instead of letting a reseller get it cheap to resell or the end user (as they call it) get it at a fair price. They try to make sure that nobody wins but Goodwill all while getting the inventory for free, paying employees little and having CEO's and higher ups that are insanely rich. If they did more for charity besides employ people and a few programs, if they didn't have such insanely rich higher ups, if they had to pay even anything at all to people donating, if there were one or a number of things different, it would be different. Fact is though they've built the greediest system possible. Get all inventory for free, underpay employees and overpay corporate and give no decent deals in the process to small resellers or to regular customers in need. I honestly would encourage people to give more to local small thrift stores that you can find that make a difference. For example I give to one that helps battered women and substance abusers through programs. The manager there said thanks to this place she has been clean for years and living a good safe life. They get stuff free, they sell cheap and still take care of their charity work. As a reseller or end user/buyer for myself when going there I get to support them and find good deals all at once. Nobody is getting rich there but people are being helped. They help me, I help them, it's win win. Goodwill seems like they don't truly want to help customers, resellers, employees or anyone but corporate. If they want to change something about their greedy ways then I'd say let employees keep a percentage of each item they list so if they catch a $1,000 item they'd get a decent bonus or spread out quarterly profits to all employees as bonuses, anything. Sadly, though...companies don't like sharing. They want to sit on a fat stack of cash while their employees can barely pay their rent or buy groceries and while this is not against you by any means because you simply documented it, it's further proof of it.
this is why i dont care when people steal from stores like goodwill. they get everything for free and take all the big stuff and mark it up like it wasnt free.
