Man these movies were cool! I was gonna say the original Star wars movies were my favorite trilogy, and they ARE. but these movies are really good too!😎
Batman TAS was the best show of the era as far as comics but X-Men was like a half step behind because it was absolutely amazing. It not only introduced me to these characters but, is also the reason Cyclops is my favorite member of the team. the only other show remotely close to them was mid 90s Spiderman.
Xmen 97 is good but the continuation of the of the 92 series wasn't necessary 97 could've easily been a standalone series. 1992 was and still is a masterpiece i admit season 5 was bad but that aside 97 cant improve on what is already successful. Larry Houston the shows original director did a brilliant job and had the restrictions of being a Saturday morning cartoon. The shows overall chemistry of the original voice actors, production team and the music that can never be recaptured especially if you have no one originally apart of the 92 series but a portion of the original voicecast and none of the original writers or show director. 1997 series is good but better than its predecessor no
I was coming from the angle that almost every problem that hindered the original series, especially that season 5, had been meticulously corrected to make this show better than what it ever was before.
Look, episodic material isn’t inherently a problem or something that holds a show back, it’s just a different means of telling a story. Heck the Superhero back then most consider the true gold standard of superhero animation Batman TAS, was primarily episodic yet still gave us many classic and expertly written material. I consider it a real skill to craft a story in what is 20 minutes of material. The best stuff comes from working with what you have rather than total freedom.
You bring up a great point! Episodic TV isn't inherently bad, but there is also no secret that many used episode isolation as a crutch to avoid significant storytelling instead of as an opportunity to give interesting character interpretations such as Batman TAS. Like with season 5 of X-men TAS, its episodic nature wasn't inherently the issue, but lead to overall more unstructured stories as they used it as too much of a crutch. I also thought it was vital to bring up the importance of X-men's serialization, as not only was it revolutionary but modern media has completely flipped in favor of it. With 6 to 12, tight and consistent episodes almost being the standard for the biggest shows out now, animated or not.
I’ve been trying to read as many Xmen comics as possible and have finally made it to dark Phoenix saga. Completely worth trudging through the first years of Claremont’s writing. To see him really find his footing with this arc is a very rewarding moment.
This was so concise and well put together, it amazed me that you only have 1k subscribers. Genuinely no difference in quality between you and those with 100k-a million.
Also devised by awful corporate hacks in such a way that it ruined the actual insightful works of the franchise: Fallout 1, 2 and NV. The most ironic about this show is that if there is any group of people even resembling the retarded group of managers plotting to destroy good things for their own interest, its the writers ald producers of that show themselves.
I loved the show. Its only show in the last 3 years i have rewatched. But they did kind of rly fuck the lore by having vault tek being the ones that launch the nukes. And then the remnants(Hank) in the vaults can launch a nuke to take out Shadysands the NCR Capital. How would there be a facility rdy to fire nukes after 200 yrs. Not to mention how vault tek would have access to the nukes. And it makes no since. Its going to hold the show back going forward. The last episode kind of undo's the first episode, with Copper running from the basts with his daughter when the nukes go off. Then at the end hes asking were his family is.
Have you even played the games? The nuke in megaton has a vault tech logo. They definitely could keep a nuke operational since the brotherhood got Liberty prime actually working when pre war it wasn't functional. And again it's already been established that vault tech started the war. The last episode must have gone completely over your head. Apparently you're the guy who needs everything spelled out for you.
@@ManuelMal Or they might've provoked someone to launch first (in pre-Bethesda Fallout lore it is suggested that China launched first because they found out about successfull FEV development, and Vault Tech _could've_ orchestrated that leak to provoke China)
this movie is SO painfully 2010, from the unironic manic pixie dream girl (as you pointed out) to the casual r-slur. but i absolutely loooooved this movie when it came out. i was 15 in 2010 and at least for me, there was nothing else like it. i thought the characters (besides Scott lol) we’re all so interesting and cool and ~adult~. but, yeah, it doesn’t hold up as a rewatch unfortunately. the original creator released an animated series on Netflix kind of poking fun at all the character flaws of Scott and Ramona and gives Knives the story she deserves. i’d be curious what you’d think about that having never been a fan of the original. also, there are 6 whole graphic novels they crammed into this film. so you’re not wrong about it feeling crammed together. sorry for the diatribe 😅 but i really enjoyed your insights! thanks for the video!!
after the long break this show had, they had no excuse. I will continue watching the show of course, but what they made with the release schedule is unacceptable.
I love the season so far and I am coming from the comics. They made good changes and some changes I understand it will take some people to accept. I am concerned a little bit concerned for the fights. The comic book version on the fight of the mars was art and the animated version wasn't that impactful. If I have to wait for quality, let it cook cause Invincible S2 shouldn't have been rush in the first place
You have your opinion at the end of the day and I respect it! These are just common complaints i've seen from both season one and two. I may not 100% agree with every take but to ignore every bit of criticism can easily lead a project to settle into mediocrity!
It isn't, because guess what it won't be coming until March, and by January 29 you'll have Ads on Amazon Video unless you play extra to get rid of the service you previously had, for 4 more episodes that have already been done.
@@Q-lays Look it up a bit more, they would release 5 10 minutes episodes then go on a hiatus for up to 5 months and it would go on and on like that. Sometimes there would be a season finale and then 2 episodes of the next season right after.
Not yet, but it’s very possible. The Adam eve special flew super under the radar. And honestly… season 2 really wasn’t meant to be split in two. Season 2 part 1 was super slow. About the “emotions” and PTSD and whatnot. Which is fine! But then… it just ends. On a cliffhanger after a dramatic fight. Totally left us out to dry. Season 2 right now just doesn’t feel like a show id sit down and watch with my bros and get hyped like season 1 was. Season 1 was just perfect with tension, fights, and drama. the best pacing I’ve seen in a show. Season 2 is really. Really slow. Which would be fine if it wasn’t split in two. I never really want to go back and watch episodes 2-3 of season 2 part 1. So yeah. It really depends how part 2 lands. If part 2 comes out swinging. The hype will be right back on track. If not? Man. Would suck
The actual story of season 2 is good, it’s just risky to break it up. After something hype like season 1 ending, there has to be be proper pacing and let things slow down. This is simple story telling. Or else things would feel exhausting. But when the goal of the story was to briefly slow down, it’s again like i said, a risky decision to slow down production while the story is slower. This will be an amazing binge watch, but it’s gotta keep up excitement with the fans to get there
Honestly the fact that after 2+ years they only were able to release half a season it makes me worried that it'll take a decade before the series is finished
And I really do think that they're using the 2020 pandemic as a scapegoat/excuse to justify their delays, like it's been more than 3 years since then, when do we move on?
@@squishycldI know the original comics. It’s only 141 chapters long and the chapters are really short. This shit could be finished in the next 4 to 6 years if they weren’t milking da fuq outta the breaks they take.
I would Respectfully Disagree, The point you make in regards to the weight/tone of the Story in Season 2 doesn’t compare to Season 1 and that it relies on its Gore to set themselves apart/standout. Isn’t necessarily true, the world of Invincible has an already established tone and they do repeat certain elements at times but it’s because of the fact they have to keep a decent amount of qualities about the show (like walking dead) to keep the story’s Credibility. Personally for me I think some of the decisions they made for me during Part 1 were great, it kept me engaged and excited for what’s to come in Part 2. Would love to hear what you think about my take 😂
I appreciate your take! When I said this I was thinking from the perspective of the more unengaged viewer, which is a lot of people. It is common we see people make holistic assumptions about a shows quality based on its defining features, belittling everything else in the process. Its why we often hear "this show is only popular because it has (blank)." Demon Slayer often gets picked on and said they are only popular for their animation, and The Boys similarly are picked on for only being "edgy". Once someone makes this assumption, they devolve a show into a singular characteristic, think its boring, and move to the next show. Tale as old as time!
They probably did this cause they wanted to sexualize the girls. the director probably had some sort of weird "Attraction" to them, and thought "Well.. maybe if i age them up...?"
Consumers like myself can be a little slow, especially when they think they are saving money. For example, I used a certain one-cup coffee maker, believing I was saving money by using refillable pods I bought on eBay. However, my second one broke, and I now replaced it with a $20, rather old-fashioned coffee maker. I also purchased a few "cheap" inkjet printers after the dot matrix era but have since switched to a laser printer after realizing how much I was being overcharged for those tiny inkjet cartridges. It took me too long to figure this stuff out, but am I going back to getting ripped off on these two things? Hell no! Streaming one service is cheaper than cable, that's for sure. However, when you start streaming multiple services for more than the cost of cable, it begins to get expensive. I don't think that multiple streaming subscriptions will last forever. Many people are too busy to scrutinize these details closely, but once they do and make smart changes, they won't go back to getting ripped off.
I rarely watch the new shows, stopped halfway through Mando S3 (but loved Andor). I sometimes rewatch the classics when I can't decide what else to watch. They really should focus on making quality feature films in theatres and pouring resources into those rather than 'direct to VHS-esque' overbudgeted shows.
People don't seem interested in the products and those shows can cost as much as a big budget movie per episode. I don't understand who thought that was sustainable.
It was probably a mixture of trying to fluff out their Disney plus content while also getting caught up in the streaming wars, but now they are in a position to where they have to backtrack HEAVILY
It's mindboggling that they would give up box-office revenue per seat, and essentially collect the equivalent of one to two rental videos per month for a whole household at most, with UNLIMITED viewing of all their new churned out overbudget content. Even other streaming platforms would benefit from the 'scarcity' effect of a limited time release in cinemas of hit shows prior to streaming.@@42mag
