I was really hoping you would have removed the toggle switches as I would like to replace them with the more detailed design they installed on the Poly D where they have more edge to the design, also looking to paint them the same colors as minimoog.
Hi! I would like ask you. Is normal that the octave selector switch changing the range makes between two valors a sound of one of the options? I have two voyagers. An electric blue changing the switch very very slow makes the 32' sound between every of the different valors. And a Old School has the same issue but it makes the 8' sound between valors. Thank you!
My unit came with dead PWM. I've repaired it in 90 minutes without schematic or anything. I have no idea how I've managed to repair it. I just had a "feeling" the problem might be one of the CMOS chips close to the PWM. IIRC there was no schematic online back in 2008 when I've bought it, hence following the PWM knob / traces down to the mux. Wish my other repairs were as lucky as this one. LOL!
Another great restoration, Jarth.!!! Very compassionate, and gracious of you to restore it for Jason for free, as well as donate the sale of it, to his family. (I had to chuckle though, at the beginning of the video, you called it a Moog Source). 🙂
I had a MK2 in the mid 80's/ Took over 20 minutes to tune sometimes but would be rock solid after that. The Prodigy has one of the best osc sync sounds I have ever heard, just set both osc's to pulse/square waveforms and let it rip!
Really enjoy your overviews and repair videos. I have a Prodigy and a Sub Phatty. I gig with the Phatty since it's more stable and it gets me the same great Sync sound. Moog sync is really nice. Different from the ARP Odyssey and the Sequential or OB tones. Moog is unique and really nice to use the wheel to bring it in, really lets you "talk" the sync sound. Quick question. I just read online somewhere that if you rest the LFO Shape switch in the middle between triangle and square the pitch and mod wheel ranges go way extreme. I tried it and it indeed makes the pitch range massive and the mod wheel speed go super fast. It sounds very cool, but I'm concerned it might damage the circuits by pushing them into a range they weren't designed to operate in. Have you heard of this and is there any risk to any components?

A great synth, one of my favourites; it is one giant audio sweet spot, just sooo playable. And you Jareth, you are a wonderfully hearted man and I salute you Sir. Oh, PS, I think Manfred Mann used a Moog Prodigy extensively on the track "As Above so Below" (and many other tracks of his too), along with the Minimoog. Have listen, you'll love it! The whole album it's from, Nightingales and Bombers, is utter genius.
@@synthpro I think I need to correct myself here and apologise. Having checked when "Nightingales and Bombers" was recorded, 1975, I've realised that the Moog Prodigy wasn't available until 1979. He must have been using the Minimoog for that album! It was just that the sounds he used, specially on "As Above So Below" are so easy to create on the Prodigy, I made that incorrect connection. His main instrument was always the Minimoog, to which he added his own effects boxes to tweak during live playing.

@@ParanormalLight. Manfred's keyboard solos blew me away in the 70s and 80s. ...and still does. He continues to be my favourite now: unique; nobody plays a Moog synth like he does.....The track "Crossfade" is another classic, incredible playing, it embodies his exceptional and ground breaking style.

I have 2 Minimoogs that I need to restore. I have no electronics/electric knowledge. Can I do this restore by myself? One minimoog is one I bought new, the other from a music store. The keyboard has keys that all uneven., so I need to adjust all those, but videos on RU-vid have no audio explaining what they are doing or the keyboarf is already removed. So, need some help.
I understand you created a software plug in (Poly Moog) including Vox Humana. I’d be most interested and does this include Vox Humana with phaser 100 effect? Again, I would absolutely love this and yes, I’m still creating multitrack demos (hobby).

@@21GunStudio it sure does. Have to be in main out to have the pedal effect and it's only on preset 9 and 10 that uses the VCF. This was my early days when I was still learning the polymoog.
@@DonSolaris it's not really the VCO gain that you are changing but the gain between the VCF and then inside the VCA itself. That is the one critical flaw with the reissue is they changed the gain at input of VCF from the oscillator mix....doesn't give the same results. This is why volume mix of each oscillator has to be set at a lower setting to reduce unwanted distortion. Value resistors needed are 4.7K ohm, 27 ohm X2, 1k ohm
Jareth, watching some of your early videos for kicks, truly amazing how far you have progressed. Nevertheless, these early vids of you jamming are really cool and there is some really good stuff here! I like this particular jam session with your uncle (he is really good!) and it really reminds me of early Pink Floyd right before dark side of the moon came out. You truly sound like Richard Wright just hanging in the background holding it all down for your uncle to jam on top I swear you got some of Richard's sounds down a couple things you played freaked me out because it sounded so close to the early stuff he was doing really cool you truly truly are talented and have a great ear for not just for really cool sounds but the way you just create an interesting pocket for everyone else to work off of. I think you should rename this video and call it out takes of dark side of my room :--)
