Firstly, fluorocarbon IS monofilament. Secondly, braid is not suited to all styles of fishing. It absolutely does my head in the disinformation on the internet from youngsters that need to be learning themselves, rather teaching. The "Dunning Kruger " effect in action. Sorry, but its true.
Haven't found a split shot yet that won't slide on fluorocarbon line! Mono no problem! Crimp it to hard and you will cut your line, I found if I wrap the line around the shot once and crimp it stays put, but now I just use 2 bobber stops before and after the light bullet weight and get the same effect.
why do you not have 100k subs. your videos are great and i appreciate your common sense approach to fishing and to keeping costs low for gear purchases...
One RU-vid fishermen had a full on video about frog colors. when to use certain colors, etc. and that's when I knew he was full of F'n dung!! Everyone knows when you are in a pool and look up, everything looks dark. Frog colors are irrelevant.
If i cut a Speed Worm in to two parts, i have the perfect grub, and the other half can be used with a hitchhiker tail spinner as a trailer on a swim jig.
Thanks for the reminder on the weightless Fluke rig, a very versatile technique for sure. Maybe add a light belly weighted hook to change the fall rate and drop into holes in the cover, make for easier casting too. Keep up the great content!
I don't want to be that guy, but you cannot target bedding bass in PA until the season opens back up again in June. The fish commission is cracking down last year hard up at presque isle. Don't want you to get any of your PA followers in trouble.
I've always thought the rule was a bit confusing. It's illegal "to cast repeatedly into a clearly visible bass spawning nest or redd in an effort to catch or take a bass" -- but what you are just rolling down the bank throwing into shallow water or along docks? I've heard some interpret this rule as don't keep bouncing your bait off a fish you can see sitting in a clearly defined nest. While others seem to interpret as you can't fish shallow during the off-season because there might be some beds around. I wouldn't doubt that even the PFBC is inconsistent on it.
I don't use any rings less stuff i have to buy the better, the more simple the rig the better. If it tears which is really rare like i mean 5-8 bass then maybe it starts tearing. Perks of being a bait maker i can cure my baits for 2-3 weeks and they will last 2-3x longer than any BIG bait manufacturer. I can also dial in the fall rate so i don't have to buy weighted wacky rig hooks i can just add the amount of salt i want and voila weight achieved. The big companies don't cure the baits hence why they tear so often and they want you to keep buying consistently from them. Support your local bait makers not conglomerate board members of a corporation. Also if you really want this plastic ring thing he is talking about just find a pen in your house and take the spring out and screw the spring into the middle of the worm and hook your wacky hook through that and voila i just saved you money, your welcome.
I fished a fluke today and whacked them! I used a watermelon green with black flakes. And I added Bait Fuel to the bag. I love skipping them under docks. Great video Bro.
Buy scuba gear for $35 and dive around where people fish. Every log is a goldmine. I have collected so much tackle for free. Wear a belt with a plastic bag and a knife or pliers and just harvest. You will mostly get good tackle too because people don't fish with their trash. There is not only tackle, you can find rods and reels too.
I truly enjoy your content and delivery, thanks for the information. I am picking up my new boat tomorrow an look forward to putting the info into action.
I've switched to this hook also about 10 years ago. Got tired of losing big fish with a EWG hook! I also fish the weighted version of the Owner screw lock hooks and done well when fish are more bottom oriented.
I've always looked at it as not only A bass fishing passion but Also an awesome hobby of collecting hundreds of brands colors and styles of crank baits Just like having a crank bait museum that will eventually be handed down to my son🙂
I like that you showed how learning what you’re fishing and how they act can help with catching fish on slow days. Was cool to see you switch sides and immediately catch one. 💪
This is what I've been preaching for myself and to others I know who fish that yes it's "nice" to have a bunch of lures to just have them, but no need to have them all because I'd bet that you will NOT be using every single item in your box or rod setup every day and by the end of the season when looking back you will see you only really used half the gear. So buy what you know for a fact that will be used and leave the rest alone. I have a medium moderate casting setup for my crankbaits that are similar to the 1.5 or 1.0 kvd shallow water, finesse jigs in the 1/4oz, lighter spinnerbaits 1/4-3/8 but sometimes will use medium heavy fast for 3/8 and 1/2oz. Then for weightless flukes, worms, and poppers because of my fishing style. Then medium heavy fast rod for jigs, medium lipless cranks(3/8, 1/2oz), smaller frog lures, spinnerbaits, chatterbaits, buzzbaits, Texas and carolina rigs in anything 3/8-1/2oz maybe 3/4 but rarely. Then spinning setup in medium lite for those 3inch senkos weightless and similar. Then small to medium small poppers, small crankbaits small booyah pond spinnerbaits/buzzbaits, etc. So usually all three setups I use every time I'm out but pre rig each setup to fish a certain style lure for each day and bring only those lures/baits that day out only. So I probably have about a half dozen to a dozen different lure/bait styles that actually get used each season. So great video.
