The Frontiers Planet Prize is a global competition where three prizes of 1 million Swiss francs each are awarded to scientists whose research contributes to helping humanity stay within the safe operating space of our Earth’s system.

The 1st edition of the prize was launched on the 22nd of April 2022 (Earth Day) by the Frontiers Research Foundation, a non-profit organization established in Lausanne, Switzerland; with the mission to accelerate scientific solutions to live healthy lives on a healthy planet.

With endorsement from the International Science Council and in search of the most impactful research breakthroughs, the Frontiers Planet Prize has engaged with hundreds of universities across 6 continents, national academies of science, and an independently run jury of 100 sustainability experts, chaired by Professor Johan Rockström.

BS. The current global temp increase is not 0.26 degC per decade, according to the gold standard in climate science, C3S--EU, our current global temp increase is 0.20 degC PER YEAR, so we may reach 2 degC by 2027, and a 1 degC increase every 5 yrs. thereafter. Don't believe me? Go toe C3S' 7-25-24 "Hottest May on record spurs call for climate action", which reports a 0.75 degC increase ove rht e 3.5 yrs. since the 1991-2020 baseline, so 3 1/2 yrs. That's a 0.214 degC increase on ave. every year. NEVER trust fast talking "experts" and do your own research.

Wrong, we are not pushing the planet right to the edge of what it can cope with. We are way, way over that edge! Go to the EU's C3S to see for yourself. At our current rate of planetary heating, we may well see a 1 degC increase every 5 yrs., 2 degC over the 1991-2020 baseline by 2027, 3 degC by 2032, 4 degC by 2037, and the unsurviveable 6 degC by as early as 2047, when any child unfortunate enough to be born today turns 23 yo.

We do need transformative change in many aspects for returning to a safe/ just operating space, and a major area of work will be how we transition from the current competitive military/ armament paradigm to cooperative non-competitive interrelationships between nations. Part of the transition needs to consider how we hospice modernity - the fantasy that we can overcome all problems with technology while we deny how such approaches tend to cause more problems.

Imagine 1.5 metres by end of century, and rising, imagine a media and government system that now hides the truth as much as it can and is complicit in keeping the ball rolling by telling people they have Net Zero under control. Imagine a time when the mainstream media actually has "Sea level rise 300% faster than 30 years ago" as a front page headline ( even though that's what is due the next 30 ) and the psyche of the public when they realise it's not slowing down.

Mr. Johan Rockström; Why are you wearing a nice suit, and talky talky talky? You know, and say it repeatedly, we Cannot stop the Earth Death. Why are you not spending time with your family? Is your EGO fun to tell a Leukemia stage 3 patient there death comes? You are an odd one. Make electricity for the illiterate now, today and you can have profit. The starvation and disease coming are compensated sociologically with the handheld distraction. There will be no economic change. None. Your voice has 0 weight to weapons mfg.

We need more research from the southern hemisphere. There was no ice age there. It was dry land and floods. history and anthropology itself is so Northern European point of view.

The world the next 30 years will see 3-4 times the sea level the last 30 years, the next 60 years could see 10-15 times. We don't need more research, we need to start having conversations around change. The Amoc slowing down is supposed to make UK ten degrees c colder on a warming planet.
