On June 26th, in Villars-sur-Ollon, Switzerland, the International Champions of the second edition of the Frontiers Planet Prize (FPP) were announced.
FPP is a global science competition aiming to mobilize the academic community to identify and recognize the most impactful solutions for bringing us back within the safe operating space of our planet. At the close of the second edition, the prize engaged with 475 leading research institutions across six continents, along with 20 National Academies, including the International Science Council. Together, they recognized 23 National Champions, all celebrated during the awards ceremony at the Villars Palace.
This year's event, hosted in partnership with the Villars Institute, included interactive community workshops, poster sessions, and intergenerational exchanges with Villars Fellows-high school students from around the world trained in systems leadership. The awards ceremony featured engaging keynotes and panel sessions from thought leaders in transformational science and planetary health.
Over the course of three days, 100 members of the FPP community - including all 23 National Champions, members of the jury of 100, presidents and senior members of participating National Academies and institutions, advisory board members, and special guests - gathered in Villars-sur-Ollon to celebrate and support the mission of the prize.
