Happened to me today hurt my shoulder when I threw a hook probably was too wide and it slipped on the pad too when I landed. 😢 hurt like a bitch . Thankfully I don’t think it’s too bad and I just need some time off. I do a lot of rear deltoid and rotator cuff exercises so I think it helped prevent a nastier injury.
Don’t get discouraged man go get ur shoulder checked see what type of injury you have for the most part it could be a torn labrum or a rotator cuff injury don’t lose hope I have dislocated my shoulder 6 times and I did surgery and did aggressive rehab and physical therapy and now I’m back * I have hyper mobility makes me more prone to shoulder injuries and dislocation good luck bro injuries part of the game
Damn this totally explains how I messed up my right shoulder. I was in a boxing class and they wanted us to go all out for 1 minute in a bag and I kept throwing wide hooks just as you showed not to do. Then a day later or so I was thrown in an arm bar for bjj.. then the next day felt like my arm was hanging by a thread out of socket.. better now but still doesn't feel right. Seems you're better off youtubing how to box then going to a facility.. if they can't catch what I'm doing wrong.
I’m the only switch hitter in my gym they say it’s like fighting 2 people I’m never out of position and can crack with both hands I only learned this on accident really
Thank you, you saved my life, I got tendonitis on the right shoulder because a slingshotted upper cut, now I have to rest for 1 month but after it I will come back inmediatly
i get it but who fight like that. i never saw someone throw hook with locked arm. even best youth hookers like garcia throws it without locking the shoulder. from my experience its preety rare that you throw hook from face to face situation. most of the time its thrown from much far distance. like long hook. what should we do then?
Thank you so much for the exercises too- i have an intuitive feeling that movement can heal the injury- but I made the mistake of injuring it again doing the same bag workout So no more boxing for a week 😢😢😢😢 as hard as it is
Anyone have incomplete tear in shoulder and still doing boxing??? I’m just worry if I keep going until I have complete tear then I can’t workout and do anything. Let me know please
Was sparring back in July, was throwing wide hooks and felt like my shoulder came out it’s socket but it didn’t. Fast forward to now, shoulder feels weird and uncomfortable in some positions, kind of hurts. Went to the doctor and have to go do physical therapy for two months. If it’s not good by then I’m gonna get an mri to see if it’s a rotator cuff tear. Warning to everyone, learn to throw proper hooks.
@@Artofwar3004 it never fully healed completely, I ended up going to physical therapy but it didn’t do much. I got a referral for a MRI with contrast but my insurance denied it so now I’ve kinda just accepted it. Still some discomfort when I do certain movements but I’m going to crunch fitness now to try and build some muscle since I stopped going to the boxing gym and gained a ton of weight
@@Simbadagreat13 just got back in last week. My insurance didn’t cover the MRI; never told me why. I just started again, everything seems fine, I’m being more careful with my hooks and throwing with better form. For my shoulder, sometimes I’ll get slight pain but it was never to the point where I wasn’t able to lift my arm so maybe it’s a slight tear but not severe. I was really frustrated with not being able to find out what’s wrong but it’s w.e. I’m doing rotator cuff stretches with light weight dumbbells 3 days a week after doing jump rope and heavy bag. A lot of people don’t work the rotator cuffs but over the few months I learned it’s super important to work them even if you go to the gym to lift weights.
@@jlopez1470that’s nice so your doing rotator cuff stretches and workouts while still boxing right? For Mines I injured it during sparring in November, have no pain when I lift my arm but when I rotate my arm around in circular motion I can hear hear some clicking or cracking sounds
Coach, can you talk more about the root cause of the injury? I think my technique is good enough to not be as obviously bad as you show (punch behind shoulder). In teh cases where I screw up and do throw a punch like that (towards the end when I'm tired) I throw a lot of upper cuts on the heavy bag, is it possible I hurt my shoulder trying to lift the bag up with the power of the punch?
I got into a road rage 2weeks ago. I threw a few right hooks. I aimed for his face but landed on his neck. I got hit with a helmet on my head from behind. Punched him too. Then my father gave him a hook. That knocked him down. He got up and ran away leaving his friend. I did pushups, bag work, skin the cats after that but it didn't hurt much. Shoulder aches a bit when I hold my hand behind my back
Awesome I come from dancing Salsa, Bachata and others My boxing coach (only have 1 month training) says I'm the fastest learner he had over 30 years Boxing is just dancing, if you manage to combine it, not get tired and pull the strength, its easy I really like a RU-vid I found, salbox which is cuban style boxing using salsa as a base for the footwork
Hi Nathan - Thanks for that detailed tutorial. I have a question. Your diamond step is (in my own terms) is an explosive, abbreviated "walk away" or "L Step" with a shuffle pivot suffix. My question is, "Do you have a specific "L step pattern", and if so, how does it differ from the first part of your diamond step?" My question is not in any way a criticism. I am interested in nuances of your boxing lexicon, given that we are separated by half a world. Also, what I know as a diamond step is quite different than your version. Thanks in advance! Cheers from BC, Canada
U need to stop boxing for abit n let it heal for ab 3 weeks n then slowly move onto stretches n then body weight excercies n maybe try fix ur form on the jab u could be over extending
This may be one of the best videos I've seen on RU-vid. I am going to discuss this on my channel. I would love to connect and collaborate with you. I also love that all the bags are wrecking ball bags. Very cool.
I have pain in my right shoulder after practicing that snapping technique now I can’t strike with my right hand or even pull things open without shoulder pain
