I put a reticle on my mark 1 and its hard to feed it but a bit more accurate at the range now. It's hard to sight in a firearm when all you have is 25 yards to work with....
aside from correct technique and working the slide 2000 times on any new gun... i read that it helps to use "micro" branded ammo, avoid steel case and polish the feed ramp if needed.
Savage rimfires are absolute junk. Everyone knows this. You buy them for kids because they will beat the shit out of them. These are not heirloom guns and they do not last, lots of plastic parts.
There is an issue with the revolver more than likely. I’ve seen this revolver in this caliber shoot 2” groups give or take a little at 75 to 100 yds. That’s what I’ve seen, I’ve heard of them doing better than 2” out to 110 yds. The 17 is extremely flat and straight shooting and is much more accurate than a .22 and even edges out the .22 magnum in my opinion. .22mag is a good round with more thump but the .17 has the edge in accuracy. I own three 17 HMR rifles, Ruger Precision, CZ 455 Trainer, and a Savage 93R BSEV, all are tack drivers and will easily keyhole at 100 to 125 yds. A friend of mine shoots squirrels in the head at 200 yds with a CZ 457 17HMR. I know Taurus gets a lot of heat for QC issues in the past but they’ve moved beyond that and upped their game. There not S&W or Colt, but they make good guns. I have I think 5 Taurus pistols, 2 semi, and 3 revolvers and my girlfriend has a couple revolvers and we get good results with all. I would contact Taurus and see if they will help you out with this issue. Your accuracy should be much better at 50 + yds than that. Much better. Good luck.
I'll tell ya what, I am now 63 years old and in that time I have seen very few kids that age with that level of discipline with a firearm, I'm impressed. I wasn't that good when I was that age. Nice little rifle, great accuracy, and I pity any home invader that tries to break in that kid's house
Great video. I have the same weapon. Have not been to the range yet. I think it would be helpful to viewers to know which target you are shooting. After a couple shots I figured it out. Thanks for the info and happy shooting.
Have one from 1972 Christmas. Learned to shoot well as you only had one shot. Hadn’t shot it in 40 years. Took it out and shot the heck outta it and remembered how much fun this gun was. I believe it was 23.99 and a box of shells kept me on a Christmas budget. Good times..
@mchoppityhooper7290 because it's made by savage. Not one single good thing to be said about their rimfire rifles. Especially their semi auto or repeaters. Absolute junk.
My Uberti 1858 new model army revolver shooting HSM .45 colt 200 grain cowboy loads using my Howell .45 colt cartridge conversion cylinder tends to hit high and to the left at times from about 45 feet away when firing 20 shots at a small cantaloupe as the video I posted on my channel that I made of my most recent shooting session shows. Sometimes I hit spot on though. My second shot hit the side of the cantaloupe and made a bit of the pulp spray off and that was when I was aiming a few inches below it. I was still aiming a few inches below it when I hit the bottom of it on my ninth shot and knocked it over and then I aimed spot on with my seventeenth shot and it took off a bit of the top of it and my nineteenth shot aiming spot on demolished what was left of it
I find myself wondering why I am watching a video by someone that would abuse a gun by admitting to running it so dirty that it is malfunctioning. I am out'a here!
I want a MK1 single shot in left handed version.I have a left handed version of the MKII in wooden stock. The single shot version will really train my grandson a south paw also, to take his time and become a proficient shooter,I think.
