If this comment survives until we farm black hole energy to eventually burst from our mortal shells to expand and encompass the universe through the amalgamation of evolutionary/technological development, then I'd just like to say Cheese toasties were really big back now
Always makes me feel a little melancholy when I hear this song. I’d love to go back to those years. 7/8/9 years. Having fun. Nothing to worry about; life was relatively simple. Good memories 🙂
I've been a fan of Elbow since the first record, my player says I've played this one over 600 times though lol. This album is tremendous, they all are... but this one will have a special place in my heart forever
There is a very strange distortion in the 'beat track' that is in the background. A kind of hiss and high frequency response. It's also in the recording. Is this a fault with the production?
I forgot I threw this in one of my chill playlists and had a cry-laugh while getting stoned on my back porch. It was only when the harmonies came in that I actively noticed what song I was listening to and it caught me completely unguarded. Such powerful expressions of love and loss are... rare, to say the least. This entire song is like a warm hug for the soul. It really speaks to the nature of the human condition. You don't have to understand the reason to know the meaning of the words - the dichotomy of joy/promise and fear/suffering is what makes everything worth living through manifest. You simply have to walk alongside all of it to find the meaning in it. To speak life to such things is the purest and most fundamental of art forms, the closest to representing what we are, I think. All shall be as it will be, and so shall ye. Life is too short to let a single sincere thought pass you by, or leave a single moment uncherished. It's the fact that it all ends that makes it so worth cherishing, all of the joy and all of the pain.
The roses are heavy With rain and for ages veil after veil And the pictures are whispering The ones we belong to Caught in forever Startled and proud, all laughing together And babe, if you'd met him I picture you'd sit Blasting my wisdom With two barrelled wit Then he'd steal you for dancing And you'd lend him your arms And I'd stooge for your laughing And you'd swirl in the chaos of charm The roses are heavy With rain and for ages veil after veil And the pictures are whispering He'd steal you for dancing And you'd lend him your arms And I'd stooge for your laughing And you'd swirl in the chaos of charm
