Balance is a word that many IFB churches have no use for. Much damage has been done by the leadership of IFB pastors to new and weak members of their congregations. Man worship, cliques, and the covering of sin among their pastors along with mishandling the Body of Christ by men trying to prove to their buddies that they were hard line and uncompromising. This was not always the case in local New Testament Baptist churches and if you study their history in the United States particularly from the late 20s through the 50s you’ll find multitudes of local churches who experienced great moves of the Lord in their midst being evidenced by huge numbers of conversions without gimmicks or high pressure sales tactics, and they practiced biblical separation not biblical isolation. Then, somewhere in the 60s things began to change and most of the changes were not for the better. Pride, arrogance, and jealousy among the brethren crept in. Many IFB congregations are a carnal mess because their pastors are a carnal mess. Teens making dozens of professions of faith because all they’ve ever heard is “If you really knew God you wouldn’t act like that “ . It’s no wonder many young people in these churches can’t wait to hit the door and never return when they get grown. I’m convinced that there wouldn’t be a “Contemporary movement “ among Baptists if Bible believing churches would have practiced balance in their ministries instead of trying to prove just how self righteous they could become. I appreciate the ministries of local New Testament Baptist churches that have tried to hold up a standard as well as showing compassion and patience with folks who desperately need help from God to keep their families together and to have hope for a better future. I could go on but what’s the point? Lost people have a keen ability to pick out shields of brass and they are not swayed by them. I’m not a pastor, minister, or any other term used to describe the leader of a local church but I have been a converted member in good standing with every church that I have been a part of for four decades. I’ve seen plenty in my time as a believer.

The ancient Greeks used sulfur to fumigate, to purify, to cleanse and consecrate to the deity. For example, in Homer's _Iliad,_ in Book 16, a goblet is purified with sulfur. The Romans used sulfur as an insecticide, and to purify a sick room to cleanse its air of evil. For millennia, gold has been refined with fire _and sulfur,_ because of its ideal chemical properties. His mission was to seek and save the lost (Luke 19:10), and he never fails.*

There are so many people and family members who say they are Christian but they are greedy and have no compassion or love for the lost and dying world not even there families some of those people are in this service today I know mans heart is wicked and it is a fight every day to fight Satan we are so blessed and don't deserve it you are so right I was really giving up on sound doctrine thank you for being honest about our God even if it Hurt's
