My 98 did it untill the paper work was filled out properly.My 2004 is doing it now,After jiggling the PCM plugs it has not stalled in todays,including today ,Aug 17 2024.My mechanic checked,said it was not my PCM.He wants to change the cam positioner sensor.A friend said not so fast,change the transmission fluid.Mine has never stalled while accelerating.Always while braking,idling or slowing down to turn.
Jeep should've had a recall on this problem.I kNEW SIX OW NERS THAT HAD THIS PROBLEM,all owned a six cylinder.They converted the PCU for the eight to run the six,after aging the PCU tried to go back to eight.
So I’ve got the same jeep as you and I’m having the same issues. It starts & stalls I’ve changed the pcm & checked all my sensors. In your opinion what else could it be I’m stumped and I need the help. I am having the same issue as you were having, but the pcm is changed what else could it be
I have the same jeep and it was doing the same thing but mine was the Throttle Body sensor and Idle Control Valve. It was a really easy fix and it was only $60. I hope that’s helps people with a Grand Cherokee
Had the same problem with my teenagers 2016, went and bought a new battery, started right up but the next day, was doing thr same thing, wouldn't start. Cleaned the positive terminal and damn it started like normal..thanks for your help
So what im trying to see could the ignition switch gears be the issue because my dash cluster shows the battery light instead of security. & also the PRNDL , gas gauge and coolant temp doesn’t function correctly. i was going to try to move the gears. because my key was getting stuck
I know exactly what you're going through I had the same issue on my 98 Grand Cherokee I replace the PCM in January of this year ever since that no problems

Well, without knowing what kind of maintenance gets done, nobody can really provide a solution. Without information and access to the vehicle how do you expect anyone to provide a solution? It could be as simple as the throttle body and idle air control module needing to be cleaned. Do you want guesses? There's a reason why some own diagnostic scanners and tools. 🤣
Hey bud! The problem is between the cylinder and the switch. Why not pull out the cylinder and see what's not working? You haven't even got a name for the part that is the problem because from what I could see the cylinder and the switch both work. It's what's between then that is your problem. For me the cylinder sticks in start and the starter motor keeps running unless you carefully turn the cylinder back to run from start. Good luck.
