Come along with me as I explore every possible aspect of dress and textiles, from the history to the craft. I will explore pattern drafting and cutting, design, and different forms of construction.

As a professional seamstress and aspiring designer, I have worked in the Film, Fashion, and Theatre industries. I love to learn and I love the art of sharing knowledge. If you like to sew, like cool clothes, or just want somewhere to hang out, I'm excited you are here and I hope you enjoy!

It’s probably someone pissed off that they ripped them off or something they gave them money and said it was for one thing but then all of a sudden they’re in Miami on vacation but they couldn’t pay their rent.. She comes on here talking about that Lisa Richards girl yeah that Lisa Richards girls are freaking whack job and begs for rug money but she’s no different. She comes on here begging for money… but it’s kind of funny him talking like they’re so being stocked and all this stuff and that Allison is mad and she’s going to do something about it. What does that shit gonna do about it?

Thank you for the very helpful explanation. As a beginner, I’ll follow your recommendation and try the Dennic system while reading Helen troubleshooting guide. I’m curious in the video, you have mentioned you have tried better drafting systems, would you mind sharing what those are? Thank you!

Amazing job! Questions: Where can we get an actual dress form base and top? Can your lovely assistant recommend things we can use as a substitute for the plywood for those of us who do not have those materials or expertise?

Great video! I will be making a Fallout costume pretty soon. I do have a few questions though, say you walked around all day at a convention and at the end of it, the clothes smells from sweat/body odor... How do you go about cleaning the clothes, could they be washed in the washing machine, if so could they be washed together with other clothes or do they have to be separated from other clothes, also should they be machine washed cold or hot and lastly how do you go about drying them? Silly questions I know. 😅

I really really appreciate your video. There are so many texts available on this subject and I have spent a lot of time trying to determine which one is best. About 10 years ago, I purchased Don McCunn's book, "How to Make Sewing Patterns". I've had a difficult time following the steps. I would love to hear your opinion about that book.

I just watched your video and I have a question. One of the things that I have seen others do is instead of plastic wrap they use a painter's coverall. This would be only slightly porous but should be enough to keep the plaster from sticking. What are your thoughts on this? Could it be an alternative? If you think it would not be enough what about a hazmat suit?

Wow. Very interesting to watch. The result was amazing. Well done. I tried the Bootstrap cover and it was not a success. It doesn't cover fitting problems of high round back, forward shoulders. In fact it didn't fit my figure. A total waste of time. Wish I could afford to have a body scan to make a form that was totally unique for me. It's very difficult to create a body double on your own.

I did something similar, unfortunately the cast expanded quite a bit due to the force of the foam expanding. It's bigger than I with a shorter torso 🤷🏻‍♀️

For those preferring the imperial system over the metric one, or the other way around, just get a measuring tape with both systems, one on each side of the tape. It instantly translates the measurement without having to calculate.

For a straight forward bodice sloper I would rather use the Surefit Designs system or Diane Diezel's instructions, both extensively demonstrated on RU-vid . For Surefit you need to order the dress pattern and design drafter, Diane's system is similar to Helen's but has darts from the shoulder as well, both in front and in the back so that you can also create the princess style. She gives all info on RU-vid. There is no perfect book or system but both worked better for me than many other well praised books. Some good books are dated in their approach, reflecting the fashion in their time. Once the sloper first assembled, it needs fitting tweaks. I think that a good fitting book is a necessary companion. Only thereafter come all the books and video's describing how to achieve a certain style, collars, sleeves , a.s.o.
