The stance on Studio Series line has shifted to making the robot mode to look screen animation accurate as possible. The alt mode if they can't get the license for various cars or like Megatron causrs controversy this becomes secondary
Tbh, megatron would never be a pistol again, but not because it’s “targeted to children”, in the us you can indeed buy toy guns in retail toy shops, but not in the rest of the world, in Australia for example you need a license for possessing anything similar to a gun, and in Colombia (my home country) it’s absolutely prohibited to have any type of gun replicas, and you need a guns permit extremely difficult to get, hasbro of course wouldn’t want to lose all the juicy market outside of USA and Japan, that the reason that I think explains why megatron not only will not be a gun in his ss representation, but be a gun ever again (at least as a toy)
This is why I choose either HasLab Deathsaurus, 86 Starscream, or Shockwave as leading figures; because they stay true to their original alt modes. Megatron being a tank is equivelant to a guy owning a Hummer simply to compensate for something below his waist.
Yes but that G1 Megatron doesn't fall under the toy gun design requirements like the one you're holding in your hand. Common sense as well don't bring a toy gun in public. It is possible for it to be a G1 toy gun under the requirements approved by the U.S. government and the Secretary of Commerce.
I wonder what the missing link versions of 'joint feet' characters like Warpath, Cosmos and Powerglide will look like. Talk about childhood frustrations..
I look forward for TakaraTomy to get to work on a Studio Series G1 gun Megatron and sell him in Japan and Transformers fans from outside of Japan can order him from overseas. Hasbro just sucks anymore. As for G1 tank Megatron, Hasbro can keep that version of G1 Megatron. G1 tank Megatron is not worth buying. Anyone agree?
My concern is that they're just gonna do a lazy job and simply resize &/or retool a bit the earthrise figure, they already did this before with other figures like Arcee and Starcream which receive little to no changes and pass them as new figures whihc it was lazy as hell. Hasbro trying to pass this "new" tank megatron been as a SS86 makes it feel like a scam as well and pretty much giving a false promotion of what the SS lines is meant to do. If they can't give us a true representation of the G1 megatron from the 86 movie then just simply skip him entirely and just work to give us someone else.
Doesn't need to transform, just make a nice sleek articulated model with a gun accessory to simulate his gun mode. That's a perfectly fine movie accurate Megatron right there, and he'd probably look really gorgeous. Toss in some nice big blast effects for the cannon since you saved money on tooling, re-release him two years later to compete and steal some of that MissingLink Megatron Takara money. Personally, I wish Megs turned into a miniature AWM on bipod.
I actually I don't mind cuz i honestly didn't grow up with g1 i grew up with Michael bay TF Prime animated and the Cybertron games and the time i grew i always saw megatron with a Cybertronian jet a helicopter and a Tank and then the bay verse combine both modes the jet and tank well they actually tried but that was time i grew up in and i always love megatron having those alt mods but i think the helicopter and the tank are the most badass modes for me the gun mode isn't my type.
