What a great human being: my attitude to zoos come in 2 1/2s: before Steve Irwin and Australia Zoo and After. Before I saw them as little better than circuses or God forbid like the poor croc in the concrete enclosure....because of him I love Salty Crocodiles and am glad, if we had to lose him, we lost him with him doing the work he loved. My grandmother used to say that God brings the Saints home early.....yep, if there are Saints, Steve is one. (As a Catholic we are taught to recognize saints by the way they inspire others to do good.....yep! a Saint....and a miracle worker too: I now contribute to zoos....miracle see? Your loss must be very very tough - know that the rest of us look on a wish only that we could help you do what you think is right to continue the work so important to all of us. Steve reminded us that the project, the work, is something greater than any of us and worth doing. To his family I would say thank you for sharing this man with the rest of us. Nothing can compare with his familys' grief but it's not a grief you carry alone. G
0:24 And with that Our Star Bindi Irwin is born. Bindi is the best this is the day it all began and she would grow up to be the best zoo vet in the world.

3:55 June 4, 1991 would be a day fans would all remember. On this day Terri met our hero Crocodile Hunter this is the day we met The Irwins and we have been fans of them ever since. Today Terri is still running The Zoo and Bindi and Rob are at her side. Grace and Chandler just recently joined the crew and they are there to help her run The Zoo. Terri is the only person who can say she proposed in front of a croc Its True! That's how they met Agro and Cookie served as witnesses when Crocodile Hunter proposed to Terri. You know the rest of the story Season 1 comes out Irwins go on their honeymoon Crocodile Hunter takes Terri up to Cape York and some poacher shoots the croc not a good ending to the pilot of Crocodile Hunter but since that day The Irwins have made it their mission to save the worlds wildlife and to stop poachers. Bindi and Rob continue this mission to this day and Chandler and Grace are by their side it is what Crocodile Hunter wanted and they will continue his work to save wildlife.
stumbling upon this is like going back in time! I remember being so obsessed with the crocodile hunter as a kid I got to go to the zoo a few years ago and it was the most amazing experience
Every time I watch these episodes, they bring tears to my eyes. It's so wonderful to see how much love and excitement he had, not only for his passion for wildlife but also for his family. The love he had for his wife and kids was so intense. I miss him so much.
I love that Steve took personal responsibility for the risks that he put himself into, which also enabled him to do the conservation work he did. He realized that the animals aren't at fault and are just reacting instinctively -- to defend themselves, out of pain, out of hunger, etc.
I initially liked Irwin, his presentation, and the show. But before too long, I began to realize what I was really watching...a blatant narcissist using (and often bothering) animals for his own self-aggrandizement. Irwin became overblown and totally overbearing with exaggerated posturing, verbal gushing, and wide-eyed posing for the camera to "indicate" danger, feign fear, and show off his personal courage. He's always posturing and its all so artificial, and disingenuous. (Just check out the cover photograph for this video to see an example). I found myself unable to watch the staged "self-aggrandizing ego-act" that Irwin soon became. -And dangling an infant near a crocodile? He was brought up on child endangerment charges for this! Inexcusable! You have to ask "Why?" How self-aggrandizing can you get? Narcissism at its best. Sorry, this is not someone I am able to admire.
