this is the only video that showed me how to read 1/8's........that's where I was getting so lost. Thank you. I've got this now!! And of course breaking down the fractions helps. 🙂
Thank you for the simplicity in explaining how to read a tape measure. Read a lot of content on the website and none of have explained this in such simplified detail. Thank you again, am so chuffed 😊
I'm having trouble with how to use a measuring tape/ruler. The lines are thick - do I line the line up in the center of what I want to measure or before or after it? For example if I wanted to measure the length of a board I want to cut 10inches long... where do I place the line at 0? Do I put the line EXACTLY in line with the edge of the board? or do I line the LEFTSIDE of the 0 line at the edge of the board? or do I place the RIGHTSIDE of the line before the edge of the board? And is where I place the mark for the 10inches point following the same rule? In my mind if I place a mark RIGHT at the 10 line - the line intersects both sides one side is 9.99 10 10.11... so I am actually cutting into both sides and I will get under 10inchs?
Uh.. where was Dr Devona Dixon when I was in school? I never would have made it as a contractor obviously. Omg what a sweet soothing voice and so easy to understand.. hate to admit.. but I don’t remember any of that🤦🏼♀️I even screenshotted that for a reminder 😂😂that was an awesome tutorial refresher! Thanks Dr Dixon.. I feel a little smarter 😉😊

Thank you I am 69 years old and I always had problems reading a ruler. Except for the metal one I used to have that went in your pocket it had all the increments on the ruler itself. I bought that thing I don't know how many times and I keep losing them. Thank you so much. Hyn. I don't know why they keep saying Happy New Year it seems lately it's turning out worse each year in all directions. LOL
Dr. I would like to thank you for the facility in which you broke this down so that I may understand. I learned more than I came on here to take with me today. Well done. 🙃
53 years old and I finally got it LMFAO.....Thank you! I am getting into woodworking and I need to know how to accurately read a tape measure down to the 16th so this was perfect!
This video was so helpful. You did a fantastic job at explaining how to read and interpret the numbers on a tape measure. Prior to this all I understood was the half line. Thank you Dr. Dixon.
The only thing that has always thrown me off, and maybe I get too technical. I’m aware there are 16/16ths in an inch. It’s just my mind. In between the 1 inch, when I count, to me it’s only 15/16th. I don’t like using the next inch as 16th. I know if I’m directly on the next number, 3-4, then that’s an inch, the last 16th isn’t between where you start and end, I view it as going into the next inch. 🤷🏾♂️
Thank you for explaining this so simply! I hope you have taught this in elementary school at some point in your life! 61 yrs old and never too old to learn! 😊👍🏼📏
