THIS is FANTASTIC!!! Your Great Grandfather must have been one of the very first to own a home movie camera?! Back in the 60s when I was a kid, very few people had one! btw ... my Great Grandmothers cousin was George Eastman of Eastman Kodak. 🎞📷 This was really a great little snipitt of Decatur, and it's cool to see some of these buildings still standing today!💖
Sorry about the 15 seconds of my foot at the beginning while I made the final adjustments to the cameras. Keep an eye on the colors of the raincloud behind me as I move the camera around.
The Urban Street is West Main Street. I can't tell what hundred block it started at though. If it east of Monroe St, most of those old homes have been torn down.. Wonderful footage of the Transfer House and going around Lincoln Square and past the Lincoln Theater.
I love this. For a split second (0:24) you can spot a sliver of my Great Grandfather's business, the Schudel Laundry. I always wondered what the view of the Transfer House looked like from their perspective. Thank you so much.
This is some audio I recorded from the radio in 1990 and still have on cassette (Unedited version available upon request). I had to edit out the majority of the music for RU-vid to accept it, but it gives you a glimpse into what WAAF 107.3 FM was like in that era. DeeJay Bill Wightman (Whiteman?) had just started in March of that year. He was a funny guy, and a blast to listen to. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-hx-Wd4kr31A.html
NEVER EVER in my life have I balled my head off, then THAT FINAL MOMENT where Mistress Carrie starts yelling horns up. Followed with AAF, AAF, AAF, AFF!!! Good God almighty, that was Friday night the 21st. And here I am the following Tuesday the 25th, and STILL can't make it through to the end without firing up a heartache, and tears down my face. Fackin' A we will miss all of you!!! WAAF...🙏🥀💔
I was able to listen to the live broadcast but am so thankful to you for posting this. It's really historic and meaningful. I hope it never gets pulled from RU-vid. What a sendoff.
Thanks to waaf and my brother for years of awesome shows! All 33 years of my life! It won’t be the same! Thanks mike! Best show was the first ☝🏽 in 99!!!
I'm gonna miss Carrie, I really hope for the best for all of them. This was the station that turn me to the Awesome genre that is Rock. Thanks For Posting
As I tried to sleep last night my mind was stuck on Mike Hsu’s final RUSH song. All day I was expecting “The Spirit of Radio”. But no, that song is far to optimistic and hopeful of the media platform, “a timeless wavelength, bearing a gift beyond price, almost free”. However, Free Hard Rock broadcast to the masses is dead, you now need a cell phone, a data plan, and a streaming service. Instead, Mike chose a song with lines like “There are those who think that, they've been dealt a losing hand” and “Kicked in the face, you can't pray for a place” but ultimately the best of us will overcome adversity and write our own destiny. “I will choose a path that's clear, I will choose free will”. Rock on A A F, R.I.P. Neil Rock ain’t noise pollution, rock, it will survive.
