It’s called a link belt. They’re actually pretty common in the woodworking world at least… you can adjust the length as needed and theoretically they make the machine run smoother and with less vibration…. They don’t have ‘memory’ like a traditional v belt. Also be aware they are directional. Usually a small arrow printed on them showing rotation.

Thanks for the info. The machine runs smooth and quiet . Until you feed a piece of stock through it. Do you have the same machine ?

Hi , yes I’m happy with it. It’s a nice machine. I’ve made a couple custom moldings with it for clients and the results are amazing. Having a good knife guy is the key

Great video, thanks for sharing. I was about to buy an older W&H 154, but for not much more i could buy the W1812 which i may do soon. It looks like you are located in Pleasant Hill CA, i work right next door in Walnut Creek.

thank you! I looked at a new w&h but shipping cost were about 400$ I decide to go with the w1812. Bought it from Home Depot website and free shipping . The machines are identical. Also the radius template for the shop fox is a slick option for doing stain grade Mouldings. It’s loud as a thickness planer. But I don’t use it for that.

@@mikecrobinson83 I could have purchased a WH 154 for $1,000, but it was old and single speed, so, i just ordered a W1812, should arrive in early December, im looking forward to making an elliptical mirror with the radius template. I don't need to use it as a planer either, i have 3 of them! 🙂

That receptacle is a 20 amp rated 120 /250 VAC rated single receptacle . A dual 20 amp breaker is just that a 20 amp breaker. The Shop Fox W1812 Planer/Moulder requires a dedicated 20 amp 240vac single phase circuit and only uses about 15 amp under normal load with both the cutter motor and the feed motor operating. I personally have the Shop Fox W1812 and I used a 20 amp Single 240 VAC receptacle as to not confuse it with the 20 amp 120/240 vac single receptacles that are in use in my shop. As I do have helpers that sometimes work with me, and I do not want them plugging in a 20 amp 120 vac piece of portable equipment into a 240 vac by accident. All my 220/240 vac machines have a single 20 amp 220/240 vac receptacle even the 240 vac on mobile bases as I will sometimes mould or rip 20 foot boards and need to move my machines to accommodate the material. As to why I have single 20 amp 120 vac and not dual(duplex) 20 amp 120 vac receptacles because I have them dedicated to tools in the area so that more than one 20 amp 120 vac hand held or bench mounted or mobile base power tool can be used in the same area.
