I have been in the hobby over 30 years and the Convict Cichlid is on of my top 3 all time favorite aquarium fish. So much personality and veracity in a smaller body.
He was ok. But in the long run, they don't get along well with other fish unless you have a really big tank or pond. So, it would be best to keep them alone.
Beautiful blue-scale cichlids. Nice build, proportions, color. Young individuals can actually be kept together up to a certain point. At home and in several of my friends' tanks, I noticed that as the fish grew, it was impossible to keep more than one dominant male. Simply, at some point in their development, the males gave each other the so-called "kiss of death" and then they had to be separated. Interestingly, these solitary males are relatively tolerant of other large cichlids (e.g. Electric Blue Akara).
" Jack dempsey Cichlid group " : étrange appellation ❗ Je pense que " Cichlid Mix " eu été plus correct au vu de la diversité présente ❗😊😉 Mais malgré les " grandes gueules " réunies, cet aquarium à l'air de bien fonctionner ❗👍🤘
Placidochromis Milomo, despite the color variations, has black stripes from the back to the abdomen, the second stripe from the gills is blurred in the middle into a spot
Wow your males are so chunky I hope mine goes like that love convicts I have a breeding paid in my south american community tank they have fry every 4 to 6 weeks :)
I have my original first convict from three plus years ago. The Great grand father is now about 4 inches long before tail fin and about 2 plus inches in height. Nicely thick and large in comparison to the newer family. He is in a different tank from the others. Yet he is much larger than any other I have.
Thank you very much. They are semi aggressive, but if they pair off. Then, they become aggressive. The only problem is that they can't compete against other aggressive cichlids.
I see your mayb trying to add Siqua/costa rica convict into your convict genetics to diversify your gene pool. Nice 👍 big siqua female and I see that little hrp too.
Thank you very much. The pond is indoors and has heaters, so the water stays warm, around 74-80. I live in New Hampshire, so I can't keep them outside, lol. Hawaii temperature would be perfect for these guys.
