Pedal traveler, urban commuter, long-time bicycle activist (involved in the Critical Mass cause-protest since the early 2000s) and - above all - an Italian multidisciplinary visual artist based in Sweden. This channel has been only set in May 2022 for giving space to my latest attempt: crossing the entire U.S.A. (mostly on the TABT) to celebrate life. My aim is to useful and share information on routes, gears, set ups, emotions and ambitions.

I loved this Vlady. The cinematography, like the commentary and riding, became more confident the further west you rode. I was expecting to fast forward a lot but found myself entranced, especially after you made it through Nebraska. And, having moved to the States from Europe nearly 25 years ago, I enjoy seeing these landscapes through the eyes of someone viewing them for the first time; they are indeed awe-inspiring. I watched it with my son who is trying to get his act together to do a similar ride but with detours to see friends in various universities across the country. LOL. Maybe he will move out before too long, and I will have time for my own adventures. I am glad yours had such a significant impact on you. Thank you, Wil
Thanks a lot for your words :) It’s a conbination of many factors. Proceeding west I have put miles under my wheels; that is experience and I needed one. But the landscapes help, too. I remember a guy in a hotel in Cumberland, day 4 or 5. He told me to “fly directly to Denver. There starts the magic”. So it’s like complex to say why the video is actually better on the second half. The music does a better match. Everything made more sense. I started to believe in it. I understood the privilege. But when it comes to riding, a trip like this isn’t only riding one direction. It is a logistic adventure, a strategy game. Filming is also challenging. It’s telling what, thinking what, filming what. Speaking in front of a camera and telling how the day was, diary like, is today not sufficient, unless you are a star with a massive audience.
Vlady, congratulations on accomplishing your goal. Clearly, it was an awesome and varied experience and your final emotions make clear the impact the experience had on you. Thanks for sharing your honest reactions to your experiences.
Canyon listened to and read the opinions and comments of current and future customers regarding the price difference between Grizl 6 and Grizl 8 with the SRAM Apex and Shimano GRX and now... they put on the Grizl 6 - drum roll - Shimano HG500 11-34 10 speed! F***ing marketers))
The Little Miami River Trail (also known locally as the Loveland Bike Trail) is pretty awesome. Loveland has a nice set of little restaurants and a small brewery (Narrow Path). Well worth checking out for anyone going by. :)
Thank you for your great movie. I have seen several of them now and really like the mix of documentsry and personal travel report. Your movies are unique, interesting to watch, and very well filmed. I also like your voice.
Thanks Florian, I try to add that something that I look for, when watching a video. I watch a lot of RU-vid travel reports myself. And about the voice, I have understood that it is important to keep and value our own accent. One of my favorite documentary narrator is Werner Herzog, and he has a German accent. Why not. We must be ourself.
Great video of Sicily. We loved touring the island, though we did not go up Etna. Milazzo, Novara di Sicilia, Giardini Naxos, then trains to Syracuse and Modica. After that we rode all along the southern coast to Sciacca, north to Segesta via Gibellina Vecchia*, and on to Mondello and Palermo. Always great respect from drivers on the roads, and very welcoming locals. * Our only wild camp on Sicily was at the huge art installation there.
Thank you so much.My wife and I so loved this videoSo well done and thoughtful. Echoes of France and many other places. Hope you make many more. All the best Keith and Helen.
Hi there Vlady.❤❤❤ Great to see your expedition, its really a while since you last posted Thanks for showing us the culture and current situation on Sicily. Take care ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Hi there,,i love your narrative and your history knowledge of america, and yes america in general (except those whose lives in big city😊) the suburban folks are more friendly, kind and helpful towards strangers they even give you some cash, offering you place to rest, inviting you to be their guest, etc when ask for help they will absolutely without a doubt would help you(although yes there might be some rude folks too,it depends what races you are,i'm asian so they treat me slightly different than european cyclotourist) i'm too a cyclist myself,i did my solo BAA in 2019 from end of july till mid september,,i bikes from east to west just like you, however the route i'm taking is mostly on Rail Trail, such as;C&O canal-GAP-Three River-Montour-little miami(Ohio)-kathy trail(missouri)-Cowboy trail(Nebraska) in Valentine,NE Cowboy Trail Terminus i following mostly backroads and farmroads all the way up to Teton Pass in Idaho, then head towards Town of Three Sister it was an amazing route scenery and fascinating landscape,an experience once in a lifetime,,i finished my tour in Florence,Oregon in just 52days,,i slept in motel, campground and did many sthealt camp,,thru out my journey i encountered many kind and nice peoples and also many close call esp in Kansas Highway😊,,that's why i choose my route majority on Rail Trails rather than riding on Highway,America is absolutely beautiful not just in pictures but in real life,i urge some of you whose never visit america, you got to go and do it while you're still able,,,and great job Mr.Vlady on your amazing journey hopes to see your next adventure here in Indonesia come visit and ride my home country,,here's another whole new level you will be amazed by our lush green forest and hundreds of active volcanoes and large bodies water too, diversity peoples and languages.😊
I really appreciate your comment - it is totally different to see my video when you have done the trip yourself! I also did C&O, Katy trail etc! And I have been in Florence too, after Eugene! So, you know what it feels like. Only 52 days is great. I wasn’t fast. It must be fantastic also to experience Indonesia ❤️ - yes, some American was rude while gassing me with their pick-up truck. The most of the time, they are nice. They understand you and the situation and they are super helpful. In remote areas they are not even use to see foreigners, so to them my cycling clothes looked weird. But as you said, wasn’t difficult the social part. I’d love to cycle there again, not the same route, but another coast to coast.
@@vladywashere i got beter idea,,why not go around perimeter of US?it will took about 1+year to complete the journey😊,,or you could also try from Alaska dow to Argentina(my dream but i don't think i can do it😢)...apreciated also your response back, happy trails my friend, and goodluck on your new excursion!!
😂 you must be an idiot. It is a test. The rack is removable. And that’s the one I have. Plus, you show not to have idea what a cheap rack looks like. Go get lost pal.
Vlady, Thank you for sharing such a beautiful, difficult and breathtaking adventure with all of us. Such outstanding drone footage that captured the whole of that area you ventured through. The choice of music was at times spellbounding and enchanting along with the video of the wild horses. Such beauty you brought to life for us. Cheers...
Hello Vlady, a wonderful trip / wonderful pictures 👍👍👍! I will retire in 2025 and will start with bike packing too. Again an inspiration. Many thanks. Gerd (... from South Germany, very close to the mountains)
Great documentary with stunning footage and mature storytelling. Thank you for sharing and all the effort you put into this masterpiece. I hope, the time will come that I can cross the states by bicycle as well. All the best to you. Regards from Switzerland
I'm in doubt between the XS and S size of the Grizl and looking at the description I was unsure about the size of the wheels. On the XS the wheel is 650b and not 700? Would you know anything about it? Thanks!
@@vladywashere You're welcome, Vladi. I really enjoyed your film. This tour is a big dream of mine and my wife's. We've already cycled from Seattle to San Francisco, which was also incredibly beautiful, but not as long as your trip. I could really relate to some of what you said. People also thought that we were cycling because we couldn't afford anything else... Everyone was very helpful and friendly. Take care.
I had nothing this big on my cv either :) The most of the cyclists I have met along the way, neither. It is a mind blowing distance but still on the doable side, just legs pain and patience ❤️
When I was a child, my parents took me on bike tours. We have now also done tours with our daughters. Incidentally, we did the Kattegatleden from Malmö to Gothenburg ☺️
Are you asking if a 12 speed bike can tackle climbs? The answer is yes; it does a better job than my Tiagra 2x (20 speeds). On the contrary, it won’t get as fast as a road bike because of the gear ratio. For that you would better opt for a 2by.
@@vladywashere yes I have the same bike the 1by 6 with 12 gears I think I need the same MTB cassette I live in a place where I have to do a lot of climbing
@@Freeride____ I see now your point. It is a gravel bike, it won’t get much better than this on climbing. BUT, one could opt for a smaller front crank. I am ok simply because my comparison is with an all-road bike with a Tiagra 2by: faster on road, slower uphill. Talk to a bike mechanic and see the options. May be cheaper than we think to adjust it. I’ll keep it this way. Next bike, maybe a GRX 2by
@@vladywashere okay I will definitely go to a mechanic and see what we can laugh about 2by is just faster on the road doesn't do me much good uphill thanks for your time ride on 👍
Right on, Brother! I'm 72, with a new hip and a new knee. I have been riding more than ever before. I am planning a 250 mile trip this summer, and this video has inspired me to follow my dreams. I have ridden most of my life, but have only started bike touring recently. I'm getting stronger and stronger, and as far as I'm concerned, the sky is the limit. What have I got to lose at my age? I'm freakishly healthy, and I might as well enjoy it. Thank you so much for the inspiration, the good vibes, the beautiful scenery, and the knowledge that we are, indeed, stronger and more resilient than we could ever imagine. Be Well, my friend, and Prosper!
salsa journeyer, Boardman adv, Kona Libre all better bikes and probably cheaper, don't sit and wait this scum company to manufacture 1 bike every 1 week, you end up growing old before you buy anything.
That’s your opinion, but you failed to motivate it. You need to try and experience it, then, specify why they would be better. But really, you are welcome with your comment, just be more constructive next time.
Hello hello. According to the CANYON measurement page, I could ride both XS and S, as I’m 172cm tall. The XS has a 27.5 inch tyre. I am fine with the S. I have tried it on gravel, long distance on road, uphills, packing etc.
That bike was also among those considered by me. Beside the characteristics and the components, the design matters too. I have decided for a canyon grizl for the mounts/eyelets and the tyre clearance.
Hi Vlady, I use an app called peak finder that provides altitude and names of the mountains in your sourrandings. It's super easy to use and for free! This is because I'm always wondering about the altitude and names of the peaks when I go hiking and yes, maybe this might help in your vids :) Grazie per i tuoi vids!
