I fully believe that each Direct continues to outdue the last one. To see Nintendo continue as usual not losing any steam with a brand new console coming in the next year or so is unheard of from anyone. I love to see Nintendo try new things with Echoes of Wisdom and Metroid Prime 4 and Super Mario Party Jamboree
I am just glad to see Nintendo not following gaming trends that take place on other platforms. Their games are typically all very great and have a very good diverse amount of titles. Now this COULD change when we start getting more and more ports of big current titles on their next system, but I think Nintendo will generally keep their games simple and contained.

I went into this direct with tempered expectations and left it very pleased. Looking forward to Metroid 4, Mario and Luigi, Zelda and Donkey Kong. This year looks good on Switch.
This Direct did not feel like a showcase for a system at the end of its life but it felt like a showcase of a system just getting started. What a testament to Nintendo. Rather than forcing people to buy yet another system to play their latest and greatest, they just focus on cranking out fun, great games full of polish. During this Direct we got banger after banger. I am so glad I picked up a Switch OLED and all this does not even touch on the great e-shop sales Nintendo has been having lately where I just bought DKC Tropical Freeze and introduced it to my daughter who also loves it now. I would have ZERO issues with Nintendo releasing an HD collection of DKC 1-3 from the SNES with improvements from the GBA games with HD versions of DKL 1-3 just because. That would print money and would be an excellent way to introduce new fans like my daughter to the series.
All I need is one good game every 6 months to a year to look forward to. Prime 4 made me happy but it's still a little far away to get me excited. The new Zelda game looks great. Definitely going to pick that one up. The rest was a little dull. Mario and Luigi would probably be more exciting if it didn't feel like we're getting too many Mario RPG games lately. And I would have loved another Donkey Kong game but I don't actually think I need to play DK Country Returns again.
I was never sold on the plastic toy look of the Link's Awakening remake, but I'm not gonna lie, when Zelda crested the hill and the world was revealed in a homage to the opening of Breath of the Wild, I was at least mildly impressed--it still looks a little too much like an HD version of 3d Dot Game Heroes, a game that came out in 2010, but . I like the idea of a more puzzle-oriented game, but Zelda eventually needs to get a bow, her signature weapon.

My issue with Nintendo is, of you want to really promote Metroid Prime, Prime 1 was released last year. Release Prime 2 now then Prime 3 between now and Prime 4. Build up to prime 4 for new players so they can get excited to play the series to 4
Who’s to say they won’t release 2 and 3? We have a year or so time where Nintendo could drop it for the holidays like what they did with Pikmin 1 and 2.
I seldom comment, but it's two days in a row you have expressed excitement that we got Metroid Prime 4 gameplay as if it was a gift. Uh... no. Let's remember that it has been _seven years_ since they announced it. They "met expectations"; they did not exceed them.
I'm happy for everyone that loved that direct but it wasn't personally for me. There were no must plays for me. I'm personally not metoid or Zelda fan. Capcom/marvel collection, Mario and Luigi, Mario Party and DK are interesting maybes for me.
I think the trouble is with Donkey kong is that Retro Studios were the ones to make those games. And as far as we know they have been on all cylinders to get Metroid ready. Its possible that the talent needed for a fresh game was all occupied and they had to make do with what they had.
That scenario seems highly likely. This is exciting because Nintendo could very well releasing a huge all new DK adventure for Switch 2 in its first few years. Possibly even make the leap to 3D.
Nope... I can't call a 40 minute presentation that boils down to 3 games over ~10 minutes a 9/10. Mario Party, Zelda, and Metroid Prime 4 look great, but the rest was shit! Maybe there's a little something here or there for those looking to play a somewhat unique B rated game or a remaster, but seriously, the only reason this presentation was halfway decent is because of all the shit Nintendo has released lately.
Nintendo did pretty well, considering the bulk of their studios and efforts must be in the successor right now. I would have loved to see a fire emblem or something, yeah. But with these games there's probably already more than Ill actually play from here till eoy.
Dude, I bought a 512gb and barely touched it. just buying Nintendo first party. How are you doing if you buy the physical cartridges and just download the update data.
I think their choice of games help form the first few years of Switch 2. Although Zelda, Mario and DK are smaller scale games or HD ports it does leave the door open for their next Mario Odyssey or BOTW/TOTK or 3D DKC to appear in the first few years of Switch 2.
This pattern was used for the last 2 years. However, this year Nintendo is shiny because Sony is taking it easy and Microsoft can't make up its mind on exclusives or selling a broken service. Nintendo is simple and they know what we want.
