How do someone who has done PM activities but with no formal title market their resume ? I used internal/external title but I don't want to risk being deceptive
Thank you so much for this video I know that I said that I let it go and I'd forgiven my class facilitator. However I'm inquisitive and am searching for wisdom in operating for future moments like the one I experienced today. While taking an executive training course today called Star Force, I was asked by the facilitator to be her spokesperson and to walk in the lobby area of a staffing agency. She delegated me to give her a range of how many people were in the lobby area and then next give her a range of how many people would be in an adjacent room to where we were. Some plans have fallen threw on a particular room being reserved for her that would have benefited our quality of hearing and not only the majority of the class, but especially specifically for one of our classmates who is hearing impaired. See my vision is totally surrounded around advocating for people who can't for themselves and fighting hard for them as though I would and have for my own daughter with autism. Sew in my counting and getting an average of the people that I saw I stopped and asked the secretaries about the participants in the room noticing that it was not a job fair sign I'd ask if they knew how long does group would be in bedroom and also if they would please consider lowering their volume as we had a person who struggled to carry the same bandwidth of hearing abilities that we all had. The person that I asked was receptive she answered my questions and as I reported to the facilitator what I done and my results she interrupted me and asked me what authority do I have to say that in reprimanded me in front of the class asking who told me to do that. And then she called me on into the hallway for further debunking and said that she's got to go and fix it and that I would not destroy the reputation of her company and business.I was alarmed at first as she taught us to be the spark, stand out etc etc. Since I lean towards not being offended but standing true to my vision and my purpose, humbly I apologized to her and got a positive mind frame throughout completing the course today. I was passionate about question that I asked the secretary because on yesterday there was a problem with the speakers and our classmate was not able to get all that she needed from class because of the noise levels on the outside where her hearing aids were picking up more so the outside noise then our facilitator. I have to encounter the person on tomorrow the facilitator that is and I just would like the best advice that you would have for me did I go over and beyond did I need authority to ask that question of consideration for this person and how do I move about this forward especially with the passion that I have towards people. Thank you Update OMG 337 is exactly what I did!!!!

I’m currently transitioning into CSM role and I found this very helpful. Would be looking forward to more CS videos from this channel. Meanwhile, I’m saving this for future reference.
Your video actually checked off all the boxes of why I want to be a PM. I’ve worked in accounting for 7 years and I’m now getting a Master’s Degree with my elective focused on product management.
I'm pm intern at an AI startup, Im recent SWE graduate, in university I exited 1 of my startups and closed other one. 5:25 as swe this has been the harder, I hear customers, hear their wants, and problems and I'm thinking in the technical arquitecture of the solution to start building it asap LMAO, head of product tells me that I have to jot it down into functional stuff first, but it's hard to me idk
This was very helpful. Thanks so much to you and Sam for making it. ❤ Could you please make more customer success related content? Or is there a channel where Sam makes videos? TIA
This was a perfect example of questions during an interview and Ireally loved his responses. they were very personable, which showcased his how genuine he is in his role.
Hi Alisa, can you do a video on severe burnout and also talk about what a product person can do if they are in a state of disorganization and is just lost in the moment due to stress and burnout. How can they start fresh immediately despite the past things that might have been forgotten or not done yet? How does a product person get through too much deliverables without having any support?
For me I’m realizing if I can record my meetings as one step it will help as I can go back and relisten but the softwares that I like to use to record are not always approved and team members don’t really like their meetings recorded either but it helps me. So I don’t know what to do really.
Omg I love how you used your husband as a real example since he has experience ! This was so helpful for me and helped me land my supervisor role ! Definitely subscribed
Hello Ece!!! Yes I believe he recommended Lenny's Newsletter (www.lennysnewsletter.com/) and his own Newsletter (www.news.aakashg.com/). I'm subscribed to both and they're so good!!!
Interviews should not and must not be prepared like an interview in entertainment business. This is real world product and features being built. Interviews are not to know what you just worked on but WHO you truly are. Stop faking your personalities as this might win you the job but now you are faced to put on that fake persona through out your job and eventually lose your happiness. This is a terrible mock and I wouldn’t hire her.
So many good insights from these two!! I hope it's helpful for you if you're interested in breaking into product or want to level-up your product career!!! Let me know what you think :)
Im asking for your opinion? 🙏. Im 61. I have been out if work since 2018 so that i can take care of both parents. Then covid took both of them in September 2021. Im about a month away to finish estate business. I have been a project coordinator, product developer ( I helped many inventors to start their prototypes. Did business plans, cost estimated the product etc.) i do work with all departments to solve issues. I enjoy it. Yes, i have my own ideas. I am a creative person. I can see things in my minds eye and see ways to solve issues. I do have a 4 year degree in technical management. I have noticed that jobs have been hard to find because of the ATS system. I will shift into product manager now. So im updating LinkedIn next. ( I ? Can someone with the unique talent to create and work with all departments restart a career at this age. Im not ready to give up. Im so behind in my life. Outside challenges stalled my career. Please let me know what you feel about restarting at this late in life. Yes, feel free to email me jameswiljones@gmail.com. ☮️
Ive been a Team Lead at Target for 13 years do you think i can become an CSM if i apply? Or would i need some other type of job experience? Thank you for your help and your husbands help as well.
Don't be afraid! Just apply, and I'm sure you'll land a job as a CSM. I can think of many transferable skills that you could mention during the interviews ! Good luck Chris!☺
Thank you so much for your high-quality videos and all the stellar advice! I'm just barely 17 and have been accepted into my dream school, my dream career is to be a Product Manager, specifically at Apple. But now, I have to reverse engineer my approach as I step foot into this new chapter of my life at U of AZ. I am a highly entrepreneurial, driven, ambitious and empathetic person who would love such a role. Growing up without my biological parents, and being abused and neglected all of my life, I know deeply what failure is like. But it is, in my belief, the raw stimulus for growth and success as you mentioned, so I hope that the PM role might suit me. Anyway, I'm wondering what I should major in, I'm thinking about marketing bec I love photography and selling something people admire, love and think is aesthetic. Also, what are some top certification courses or programs that would benefit me? I know this is a lot, and I thank you for reading all the way down here. I just want some tailored advice if possible. I appreciate your hard work and videos and I hope you'll have a blessed life!❤ I'm thinking about communicating with software engineering and design majors upperclassmen who are like seniors in order to help me build an app. I'm not a technical person at all, have almost no interest in learning coding, but I'm good at statistics and data analysis. Anyway, I want to create an app while in college under the product life cycle steps from conception to completion. Specifically, I want to create a food and cosmetic app that you can download on your phone, scan stuff in stores, and figure out the nutrition profile, how organic/healthy the product is, etc. I believe there is a great need for this. If the plan works and the app is developed and people like it, I would like to sell the idea to Apple, and kind of wiggle my way into PM role at Apple; my dream! Any thoughts about my networking and development strategy. Thank you once again!
Enjoyed this video a lot! Please do more "day in a life" videos. Also curious to know if you had doubts going into something new. I get these doubts a lot.
So happy you liked it! Always have doubts but nothing in your career is permanent, so usually worth trying something new and if you don’t like it, you’ll find something else!
Congrats on the new role!! Excited to see more career updates as the product gets even more traction - I need to check it out, lately my product documentation has been harder to execute 😅. P.S. love the vlog style - thanks for giving us a peak into your day!
So cool to see what you’ve been up to! ChatPRD has loads of potential-I love how your awareness video about it (which even beat Lenny from Lenny’s podcast) was the indirect spark that got you this new gig. Can’t wait to see what comes next!
