It used to be nice, i was there from 2010-2017. Those were the last of the decent times. After hurricane Harvey, I was done. Left the area and never looked back. It was fun while it lasted. It got too crowded and ghetto too fast....its just another piece of Houston now....never-ending asphalt and concrete.....and that katy freeway, geezuz....traffic, traffic, TRAFFIC.....as early as 5am....ridiculous. Nevermind the cost, its the quality of life that tanked....
just cause i like u heidi and big mama says your 1 of her fav panthers.... im gonna buy u a 20by40 rectangular pool with 42 inch walls. for future grandkids ill have new image pools get right on it
memphis take your bro and his chick to get a fourwheeler and a pull behind dump trailer , take them out to eat and stay in a hotel for the night.... they can start scrapping at the construction sites... i gotta make a long distance call to texas and see if the boys started laying pipe yet in the oil fields..... cause Tr8ce or TRACER oil rigging and pumping is gonna rule west texas soon
Hi, thanks for informative excellent video I am confused between buying a home in Breckenridge Forest(Springs) and Flagstone(Humble), any suggestions or recommendation would be appreciated. I have no kids and work from home, so basically i am willing to get a home which will give me the most appreciation in short term
I'm finding the traditional neighborhoods that are older have more amenities and bigger pools and everything over the master planned communities. Plus most all of the master plan communities have generally 1 entrance exit to the main roads. So imagine morning rush hour with over a thousand people using one exit point trying to get to main road to get to an interstate.
Finally moved to beacon hill. I’m in love. Soooooooo peaceful. In a week I’ve already met 5 neighbors! And can walk to mailbox without getting mugged! Everyone waves. I’m one happy happy camper. Plus the quality of home! Long lake. Outstanding! Every homeowner that I’ve talked to out here said the exact same thing and several have been out here for over two years and said they would not change a thing. Get more for your bang for your buck out here but don’t tell anybody because we don’t need any more people out here. Even though they’re building a lot of new houses. It is just so quiet and peaceful and dark at night. I love it.
Hi from Katy. When I moved to Katy, it was still semi-rural which was exactly what I wanted. I have never liked living in "cities" but that is where the jobs are so Katy was the perfect balance. Katy has grown by leaps and bounds in the past 5 years to the point that it has become a congested city. I came across an older man on my walk around the lake behind my home and he asked me "what happened to Katy"? He told me that when he moved here there was one feed store and one donkey and he had the donkey. One issue that I did not hear you mention is Katy sits on 3 counties (Harris, Fort Bend, and Waller). Taxes are largely dependent on which county you live in. Additionally, taxes are higher if your home is in an Extra-Territorial Jurisdiction ( ETJ ). These are buffer zones outside the city limits. In my case, I am in an ETJ between Houston and Katy. As a result, I do not vote in either Houston or Katy elections. Nor do I have any city services and to make matters worse, taxes are much higher than if I were within either Katy or Houston city limits. In short, living in an ETJ affords homeowners less rights and protections.
I agree with everything you said. I've been looking and why are these builders charging so much for DR Horton and Lennar that's zoned to a school district like Royal! It's crazy! I Really want to love in Fulshear but my goodness the prices are insane also but I feel better about a home holding value there.
Can't really go anywhere else in the state though. Extremely and crappie politicians at any place. Plus a looming housing BUBBLE is coming in highly speculated Austin and even San Antonio. Dallas area homes dropping value too. Houston was at least flat. For the first time in a long time neighbors in Austin have beenb in foreclosures cause it's way too expensive and can't pay. A market correction is coming. So doesn't matter if your in Houston or other metros, might wanna think about moving to the country, lol.
Who voted for those crappy politicians in Houston? If 57% of the people in the city aren't happy with their elected leaders, they have nobody to blame but themselves.
Even Debbie Downer watched this video and said "DAMN!". Seriously, though - builders are offering generators if you build a new home with them now. Couldn't believe it when I saw it. lol. I still love Houston more than anything in Dallas. Can't wait to move back to Houston after almost 30 years. 🤣 To answer your questions. I'm only staying in Texas and moving to Houston to help my mom out. If it were up to me, I'd be out of Texas after having lived here my entire life. I'd pick Colorado, NW Arkansas, Tennessee, or the Carolinas. I'd pick the NE like around Maine, too, but I can't stand snow, so Colorado is probably a "no" now that I think about it since it gets a lot of snow and isn't nice on taxes. lol.
That is in a bad hurricane area. No matter what, bad hurricanes will hit and knock trees onto power lines. As far as how long it should take to fix, it depends on how many lines were knocked down. Some blame should go to Centerpoint, but some of it is just mother nature.
This video is true. I am a native Houstonian and lived here over 40 years. The weather is the same. The poor planning by city leaders and extreme amount of construction growth is a severe problem. While certain areas always flooded, it was never this widespread. They over built and didn't plan. No one expected the huge influx of population we acquired after Katrina and the regular population growth then the influx that happened during COVID just kept piling on. I don't recognize Houston anymore. And the crime while they may say it has gone down, that is completely fudging the numbers and crimes being pleaded down. When they released all the "non violent" criminals from the jail bc of COVID our violent crimes shot up. I assure you in the 1980's and 90's people were not getting shot while driving down the freeway. It has become completely insane. I'm about 3 miles outside the city limit and I hate to drive into the city. And I now need to move further away bc the crime and all the stuff is spreading further out into all the suburbs
More people need to be aware of Houston's poor city planning & over construction. Everyone thinks the Houston suburbs are the most beautiful utopian places in human history. But Houston suburbs are an abomination
yes. taxes are too high. Every other state is LOWER. Houston is the only state that is going backwards. Like everywhere else is progressive except Houston. Houston is becoming more neanderthalic I think is because of the crappy leadership (I mean people in City councils) Not Gov Abbott but I think he needs to pay attn and make some changes here. Houston is the most ghetto.. tons of illegals and just abit of a very uglyish city out of all the cities. If Texas were a person, Houston is the smelly Crotch.
Great Video. I completely agree with you concerns regarding Houston. I moved from California in 2022 to Houston - Katy , extreme weather, Centerpoint (less) is joke about reacting power restoring, insurance sky rocketing, Property taxes crazy too, Traffic its terrible..Thinking to relocate
