In the Middle Ages, the material from the remains of the Ancient Fortress was used for the construction of the Medieval Fortress. In the 18th century, the remains of the Medieval fortress were used to build the citadel's artillery. There are only foundations underground of the Ancient Fortress.
I advised you to take a small tourist train in the fortress - or trolley as you called it on Ada Lake in Belgrade - and see the fortress with it. It's a 15- minute ride and you get to see it all. Better than so much walking. These days are very hot.
I won't there 😢... My English language is not good... I'm Finarians you luck like Finarian tip ( we have Kelt blud) Enjoy sister ❤ Pozdrav Iz Kanade Canada
Niš is the gastronomic capital of Serbia. Burek was invented in Niš and the city itself is therefore known for its excellent burek. And grilled specialties, because Nis has excellent kafanas which are worth visiting and enjoying top-quality food. I wish you a peaceful and pleasant stay in Niš.
@@DontKnowWhereImGoingNextYou're welcome. The old Anton bakery has excellent burek and the Mrak kafana ( a seat must be reserved) has excellent barbecue.
Nis and Skoplje and kind off similar ,both were 90% build during 60s-80s ,Skoplje add all that new monuments monuments in main square but rest is similar . NIs have Interesthing underpass with small shops that goes from start to end off pedestrian street build in 1990
20th century artist from Nish proposed a plan in the 90`s to bring down hotel "Ambassador" and to build a church there, where it once was. His plan was to fill in the underpass with the rubble from the hotel.
"History of Niš" The Serbian army liberated Niš in 1877, and the town was ceded to them by the Treaty of Berlin (1878). In World War 1 Niš was for a period the capital of Serbia. Heavy bomb damage from World War II and consequent postwar construction erased much of the town's Turko-Byzantine style.
King Milan Obrenovic was the first King of modern Serbia - and since the last of the medieval kings. Serbia was elevated from a Principality to a Kingdom in 1882, but in 1878 got international recognition at the Congress of Berlin. Thanks to King Milan, Nis once again became a part of Serbia. Belgrade has a King Milan Street (Ulica Kralja Milana).
Niš city fortress should be visited. Skull Tower, highly recommended . Its worth. Very unusual monument. Ex nazi concentration cam as well recommended.
You;d like a building to be ''pressure washed'' !? Cmon girl! BTW, in New York you can see hundreds of building in much worse condition than what we have in Serbia. Be a realist.
4:34 Miodrag Mija Stanimirović (Niš, August 19, 1919 - Borovac, near Zaječar, October 20, 1943) was a participant in the National Liberation War and a national hero of Yugoslavia.
there's a hundreds ''heroes'' like that one. easily proclaimed by then ruling Tito's regime, which was anti-Serbian and totalitarian. Above all, anti-Serbian ! Down with communism and totalitaran Tito's regime, killed thousands of Serbs in former Yugoslavia!
I hope she finds out about tilting windows.😂You sould let it vent, you know that?By the way pretty place,I guess here you van find better place to stay in smaller places.
Air conditioners here are not as popular and as widely present as in the US. We prefer to open windows. So it is common to have only one air conditioner in a place, or even none, but to have an air conditioner in every room is rare.
That "phone" near the main door is an intercom. When someone wants to enter the building and come to your place, they will press the button downstairs on the ground floor, it will ring, you pick it up and press the button to let them in.
I am from Belgrade and I love Nis. Things to do: breakfast - Burek at Anton... Lunch: Stambolijski (closed on Sundays)... main city square... Nis fortress - take a tourist trolley if you don't want to walk. Monument to the Liberators of Nis on the main square with artistic details. The Skull Tower. The Nazi Concentration Camp - Museum. The Memorial to the Battle of Cegar. The WW 2 memorial at Bubanj. The Ancient Roman site of Mediana. The Archaeological Museum, just across the Stambolijski restaurant with Ancient Roman artefacts mostly... The monument to King Alexander I of Yugoslavia... You can visit the nearby Niska Banja, stroll through the green park and eat at "Kod Gurmana". One month in Nis is probably too much... But you can visit Pirot and Vranje also towns in the south.
