Off-roading, 4x4 Driving, Camping, Modifying and Fixing Jeeps...
I’m a Jeep Wrangler owner and made this channel to share some of my off road experiences on the trails, and document some of the modifications my friends and I do to our Jeeps. Based in Southern Alberta, I intend to get out and explore the vast wilderness of the Rocky Mountains.
Can you heat the splines or add penetrating oil to allow easier removal of bearing? I dread doing mine as it is a rust car from Hew Hampshire where they used salt.
This happened to mine. I did the fix and checked for conductivity. But it still won’t work. Checked the fuse and it seems to be working. Check the connector and it’s fine. Rear wiper and fluid are both working. Anyone got any ideas?
best scene of the video was you starting putting your RTT away, then no video of the struggles, just you saying you didn't enjoy that. 🤣 been there! looks like a good crew!
Oh the struggle haha I'm going trailer I think after that. I have a trailer but still need the RTT, the wife doesn't like it and wants a trailer she can sleep in. Yes, everyone was fun to be around
Yeah? It worked out well for my friends Jeep. Keeps the kids apart and the Center console can be modified to suit any taste I guess. His thoughts were, if it doesn’t work out, he’ll just get a replacement seat from the wreckers
I added an accessory to my truck that pulls a few amps- makes my headlights flicker. Considering going up in amps on my alternator/add a second battery. I want to make sure I have enough power to operate lighting. We just got triple teamed by three blizzards this past week, 2 feet of snow- lots of fun to drive in that at early in the morning getting to work, lol. A couple extra lights would have been helpful. I'll have to look into one of those boxes too. @@OTBT_Canada
Hey Brian, thanks and glad you found the video useful. The light was part of a kit specifically for the JK rear window. It taps into the rear interior light via the cable at the rear of the Roll/sport frame. Sorry I don’t remember the name of the kit but a Google search should get you there
Thanks for the great video. Had the same problem as well and this was easier than the soldering project I was originally going to do. The tab is back on and only time will tell if it holds and works. Question…did you install that rear window light yourself? Was it kit?
Had a hard time hearing you because of the background music. Background music SUCKS and it should never ever, under any circumstances be used in a video. There is no reason for it. Its bland, its repetitive and no one ever gets the volume levels correct. Background music just might be worse than music montages and music montages are the worst.
Hey there… You can contact me through either of my social media platforms Instagram: otbt_canada or Facebook: Off The Beaten Track - Canada. Thanks for the interest.
Hi, did I see that right, you zipped the. OzTent into the Rhino Rack awning? The two zips are the same teeth size? Good review, and funny to hear a Yorkshireman in AB, mind you I'm a Scouser in BC. Cheers!
Oh haha ey up! Yes, the zip is the same and it zips straight onto the awning. Oz tent do a framed version of that tent but the tag-along is frameless and zips onto the awning.
Did you guys come in on the South Esk trail? Looks like you ended up on that Nomad trail coming past Ruby Lakes. Did that once on my quad. Not sure I'd take my Jeep down that part of the trail. Looks like fun
Hey there, the route in was real simple and a nice drive, mostly river bed. On the way back we took a different route but went a step too far, yeah it was a real difficult trail to get through. Not sure we’d of taken it had we known. It was my first visit to the area so I just followed.
@Off The Beaten Track - Canada You're more than welcome!!! I followed your directions step by step last night, and all seems to be holding up properly! It was super simple to do and saved me time and frustration of having to bring my Jeep into a local dealer. Thanks again!!! :)
Such a complicated solution to a simple problem. why not just stick a piece of Velcro on the fire extinguisher and let it stick to the carpet under the seat?
Hey, thanks for watching… It’s usually black when I change the oil on the Jeep, I do it around every 10k km. There is an apparent requirement to change it more often here due to lower grade fuels. Could that be the reason?
@@OTBT_Canada Fuel, yes you are right! I forgot that i'm running on LPG, witch is burning very clean, similar to E85.. I don't know how the oil would looks like if my motor was running on gasoline..
That trail to Ruby Falls is a one way in one way out trail. The trail you took to the lakes is not bad but beyond that was never a jeep trail until about 3 to 4 years ago. Then a few guys tried it did major bush whacking and the trail got slightly wider and the mud holes got much deeper. What you should have done was taken the hidden trail right at the lakes that links back up to the main trail but it’s often missed because it is slightly hidden. I drove by it for years not knowing it was there. I think because the sxs’s are so big now is why it is now doable for Jeeps although the mud holes are very deep and if you break down there you will be lucky to get out. That area exploded with trafic when everyone started making you tube videos on it and now not even 5 years later the trail is being rerouted and it’ll never be as good as the original. They will eliminate all the river crossings. You can kind of see why they have a problem with it because it was fine when there is only a few groups here and there that would travel the trail but like I say now with all these RU-vid videos basically advertising the place and now everybody shows up so now we have a problem because where just one or two jeeps were crossing the river every hour you might have jeeps crossing 10 times per hour and then of course the waters get all silted up and then it does become a problem for the fish not to mention any of the oil or grease that could come off the jeeps and quads. It’s kind of one of those things where we all want to share these special places with others and I used to do the same but now these days I just keep these places to myself because the end result is we either get complete closure of the trail or they reroute the trail to where it’s not even really fun anymore taking away all the obstacles people were even going in there minivans if you could believe that. I don’t know the answers anymore I think if they just fix up the trails slightly where there’s an environmental issue and instead of rerouting the entire trail the jeep groups and the ATV and dirtbike group should all band together and put money in to build bridges so that we can still have the same trail that doesn’t have to be completely rerouted but of course once you make it with bridges and make it too easy to get in then every Tom Dick and Harry shows up you’ll have a Honda Civic going down the trail so where does it end right?
Yeah, I concur. It’s a fine line between wanting to share your experiences and passion, with not wanting others to go and wreck it. We certainly would’ve chosen a different route had we know the best way around.
Not a fan of these types of fenders, they expose more of the ugly fender wells. I would have to buy custom fender wells to hide them. That said, you guys did an excellent job cutting.
I am running stock rims with Mickey Thompson Baja Boss 33x12.5x18 tires. No lift so I have 2 inch spacers. This pushes my tires out about an inch and a half. I like to run with my doors off so I have mud guards on my front fenders. Do you think there would be a way to attach mud guards once the fenders are cut? Thanks.
Good question, I understand where you’re coming from, skinny fenders always allow for mud flying up the sides of the Jeep. You can definitely fit them to the rear but that doesn’t solve your dilemma. There’s not much taken off the front fender at the side, but when you lose most of the inner liner, there’s a lot of structural integrity lost in that area. If you could find some that would fit to your frame maybe?
@@OTBT_Canada I have an idea. I just bought some big rig mud guards that I was going to use to make a bigger set. Maybe I can stack them and create some structure. I will let you know hos it goes. Thanks.
