Why? If you sold out before... There should be no need for a Kickstarter! You supported the existence of demand. You handled production and sales. So why are you flipping backwards? When you have already done bedrock analysis and generated funds - in other words - why aren't you flipping the money already made to continue production?
The reason we created the Kickstarter campaign is that we want to let as many magicians know about the deck as possible. In this day and age, it is challenging to reach out to everyone. And the second, even more important reason, is that we want the backers to participate in the campaign. We want them to decide the next steps and share and submit ideas. @@iancowan3527 Well, every crowdfunding campaign is also a PR campaign in its core. We went to Kickstarter because we want to offer these as a true magician's worker deck, meaning the cards are available to anyone for an affordable price. The first edition released last November was limited to just 1.000 decks, making it more of a collector's item than an every day carry. It was a collaborative project between us and Bicycle Cards and its aim was mainly to introduce the marking system and test it. Pavel
I have several trick decks for magic. One of those has marked backs. I got it about 20 years ago on holiday in the US. I actually thought it was a Bicycle deck (I know that at least 2 of my trick decks were). If people want to use marked cards in private, they run the risk if losing friends or pissing off strangers. I'm sure they'd find another way to cheat.
Well, they are! We released a first edition of these cards in November 2023, thanks to a collaboration with Bicycle Cards. They approved the idea and embraced it. We're grateful for the opportunity to bring these to the magic community. Pavel
@@Nevio_024 It's not in our plans now. From what we have heard and experienced, the red Bicycles are more popular in the magic community. That's why this campaign is for red decks. Pavel
I really liked this style of content! I hope it will become a series of different creators and interviews of them. Would love to see ppl like Orbit, Wadey or Cam Toner been interviewed and have new decks been hyped like this. Brings good old DeckingAround style vibes!
What was funny about this, it's that i immediatly by these deck. A wonderfull and amazing deck of cards. A wonderfull man also. Nice from the begining to the end
He said he confused her for the statement after that. He did say the card is red, heart and low card, but turns up 10 of spades😂 Just a presentation of the performance.
I figured it out!! At just after 2:39 he turns, and crucially rotates, the deck. Thus when Penn puts his card back in it will be opposed (upside down) to the rest of the cards in the deck. This then allows Alison to find it. The headphones play a message that helps her figure out how to spot the chosen card. The card will have a non-symetrical (on the vertical) unique marking. Boom.
That was my first guess too, but Penn riffles the deck after choosing his card, which would reverse the orientation of half the cards and hide a flip like that! It's definitely a marked-cards trick, though - you can buy the cards, and they're specially designed. The website doesn't explain the marking system, but if you look closely at the design it's quite complex and there are lots of small differences between the backs. I think that every card has the suit and value encoded on the back - Ondrej was simply able to identify the card on the table by looking at it, and selected the correct card on his phone to be played to Alyson during the recording (which fits with what's said in the code - Penn implies that the trick uses a key card, which it doesn't, but Alyson nods because the normal meaning of "key in" fits what happened). It's a really great trick, though - without Penn drawing attention to the butterfly design I'd have had no idea how it could be done.
