Hey everyone, I'm Thierry Rocks (formely VIdeo Demon). I've been on RU-vid for over 10 years now and changed the direction of my channel many times, but currently I'm an upcoming filmmaker and a reviewer of rock and metal albums. My film production company is Flynn Reel Productions. Enjoy!!
It's sad the new ticket stubs are just receipts that fade quickly. Now your even lucky if you get a ticket cause it's all digital:(. I started collecting mine in 2010 when I was a freshman/sophomore. All my favorite movies were in 2009🙄 so much regret for not starting one year earlier! Haha my oldest ticket is The Prince of Persia lol. But I was flipping through my booklet and I got some good ones. I was pissed our theater doesn't do ticket stubs anymore because I missed getting a Beetlejuice ticket !😒
Pablo Honey - Acoustic focused / Everyone Can Play Guitar The Bends - Sad and emotional / bald AGP looks like the album cover OKC - Computers Bad Kid A - Bleeps and bloops Amnesiac - Weird sounding / "funky" HTTT - Politically focused / George W Busn In Rainbows - Happy and uplifting TKOL - Boring waste of time / trees AMSP - Slow and depressing / "I give up"
Excellent video- Good to be educated on a genre I know less about. I definitely think you'll be able to build a community around this channel. Try some more self-promotion on Reddit, and add some more narrative into your thumbnails for people who don't know what the album is, e.g. "This was the original Coldplay". Have you heard the band Splender by the way? They're probably the most criminally underrated nu adjacent band of all time. Their bangers include 'Save It For Later', 'Here I Am, There You Go', 'But, Anyway,' and 'Special'.
I've thought about making a Reddit actually! Are you saying that I should make a dedicated Subreddit to ThierryRocks right? I wouldn't mind that and your suggestions about the thumbnail help a lot :) I know Twitter and TikTok help but I am not keen on the poor reputation those sites have AKA Cancel Culture. I just want to make peacetful niche videos for the folks who love them. And yeah I have but only because they appeared in my Spotify feed once and I liked their album cover. That's actually how I found out about bands like Memento, Sloth, Prime STH and StereoFuse btw.
The new editing style really paid off :D. Admittedly, I shied away from this album until today, thinking it would just be a rehash of earlier efforts, and would lack the nu spirit which seemed to fade out in general media from around 2012 onwards. It's not too bad however. The cover reminds me of Halo, for which Breaking Benjamin made a soundtrack song. Review suggestions: Edgewater - South Of Sideways and Our Lady Peace - Gravity.
Glad you enjoyed it 😁 And yeah DBD grew on me. Btw do you like Starset? They were a good hard rock band with electronic elements during that dry spell for music in the 2010s. And I LOVE OLP!! I might do Spiritual Machines first :)
@@ThierryRocksTV The name sounds vaguely familiar (unless I'm thinking of Starsailor XD)- I'll check them out. It would be good timing for Gravity since that's essential summer listening, with tracks like Sorry and A Story About A Girl, although Spiritual Machines has one of my top tracks... "But everything's gone bla-ack, you're looking for that sun, you're looking for that li-ight" :D.
@@PhilMcCool Sorry for my delay. And Starsailor are a soft rock Britpop type band right? I am planning on reviewing some of those types of albums :) And I love Everyone's a Junkie its a hidden gem!
@ThierryRocksTV No problem. Spiritual Machines is growing on me, it's just a matter of not being distracted by the weird interludes. Yeah, Starsailor were successful in the post-Britpop movement. It's strange how American post-Britpop (Paloalto, Cave) felt tied in with the nu adjacent bands, while the actual British bands weren't. Maybe it's due to the UK having a very limited nu metal scene.
@@PhilMcCool Honestly I enjoy those weird interludes especially the ones about the state of the year 2029 (which is so damn soon). Helps that I can enjoy weird rock bands like Ween. And that's true, Fade Out/In has a heavy vibe to it and appeared on the Daredevil album. I plan to review their 2000 debut album and bands like Athlete, Embrace and Keane next.
@ThierryRocksTV oh great. Yeah, the rest of the album is amazing plus it was produced by Don Gilmore who also produced for Linkin Park's first two albums and Avril Lavigne's Under my skin.
I think that BB has one of the most consistent discographies. There isn't any album that I consider bad or weak. Anyways, I like you new editing style. It's definitely a nice change of pace.
This is always the best part of the film to me. Will Smith should have turned all the prisoners into *Human Centipede 3* "Don't watch it, it's terrible"
Damn 99 i was 14 years old here in usa i just remember smoking couple of js back in the day and running the streets listening to stuff like this when it was freshly out lol Nice short kid Lets see what ya got next for us Got me waiting subscribed now and all over 90s toys
Thank you so much for this comment! It's amazing to see a response from someone who actually would'ved related to the bandmates in Kennedy Park back in the day :) And I am taking a little break from filmmaking but currently in the script phase of the new project. Also ironically when I was 14 years old back in 2015 I was starting to get into heavier music and Nu Metal was so appealing to me!
Im from the usa Loved monsters in my pocket Never herd of the wrestling series of em Really liked ya socket poppers/matchbox connectors video but comments was off Took me years to find out what those toys name Im 39 now i used to have the socket poppers back in the early 90s in dayton ohio i think awesome videos Didnt know theses were so big over there
Thanks! The comments are turned off because of RU-vid Kids as I was only a minor back then. But my interest for strange retro toys never truly faded. And the 2006 MIMP series never released in the States but I vividly remember my Grandma buying them for me, good times :)
I wasn’t able to comment on your 90s kids rant since you disabled comments, so I thought I’d comment here. We just entered 2024 and I feel like that shows just how much time has passed with us alive. You mentioned 90s kids being 20 year olds back in your video, which released in 2016, and 20 year olds nowadays like us are 2000s and 2010 kids, while 90s kids are now 30 year olds. It’s pretty crazy to think about
Oh man, tell me about it!! We're literally classed as Zillennials because we were born during the beginning of Gen Z, yet share similar memories as the Millennials who came before us. I wanna say those born from like 1997 to 2001. Too young to have lived through the 90s but were children in the 2000s and teens in the 2010s, whilst the Zoomers who use TikTok and listen to modern hip hop are teenagers right now. And don't get me started on the Gen Alpha Skibidi Toilet iPad kids of today 😂 Btw my old rant videos have the comments turned off because of the RU-vid Kids rule as I was a minor back then. I can't be bothered changing it because I dislike those old videos. I have privatized the ones with barely any views. But I reflect on how much I've changed for the better over time 🙂
@@ThierryRocksTV yeah it’s crazy. And I don’t blame you for keeping the comments disabled. We all say and do things we aren’t exactly fond of when we were younger
@@ThierryRocksTV I guess my brother and I could be classified differently despite me not being that much older, since I was born in 2002 and him and 2003 lol
Absolute classic perfect album. I still listen to it 20+ years later regularly. When it came out, rock was shifting from grunge, and there was so much shit music on the radio. I wish they could’ve stayed together.
