"play dough " Wow I haven't heard about that since my kids were babies! (50 years!) lol. When you put the dough into the mold, you can use the scraper gently over the top to scrape the excess off.
I worked in the lunch room kitchen back in the early 80s and I can tell you these are NOT the peanut butter bars we made. Lunch ladies do not have time to spread dough. We made large vats of pourable batter that we poured onto full baking sheets.
Have you ever melted a quarter cup of Crisco or lard in the pan then pour that into your mix? That’s how I was taught years ago but I think it may be just because the person typically used Crisco rather than oil so they had to melt it. Being a city girl I just assumed that was part of the actual method for making a good southern cornbread :-) since then, of course I’ve done it the way you did and I don’t really see a big difference. Both are delicious.
I make my own chicken broth when I cook my chicken (thighs) with onion, celery and carrots but the rest of your recipe is amazing and l WILL be making this !!!! 👍💛
Looks pretty good, thank-you, kindly! Going to make them shortly, and lookin forward to it. ..think if ya wanted them to rise a little bit, just had a few grams of baking powder. Baking paper is my best friend…. I don’t like to clean out pans…. Phew, that’s for jokers.!

I did this tonight, I love the outside mixed with a soft cookie texture. I baked mine for 27 minutes because I live in Florida and we have humid weather. GOD BLESS🌻😊👍
