Thanks for this video, this is the best video available showing how to disassemble and reassemble the Model S headlights. You really included all the important information, including what temperature to use if using an oven, how to use the heat gun and tools to gently open the light up, how to prep the parts for painting, how to reassemble and what adhesive to use, you included lots of notes like making sure to use a gasket on the screws to avoid condensation, and how to pry it open without breaking tabs. The whole video you spoke clearly and concisely, and your mic setup was perfect. Well done. I plan on using the method you demonstrated here along with your comment notes, to do the same blackout paint in my headlights, and also in order to access and replace the DRLs.
I just had my 2016 Honda Accord headlights replaced due to the daytime running lights being burned out. Honda due to the recall you have 10 years from the date of original purchase, to do it for free
Hey everyone! @HeavyPilot83 pointed out that this can be done for free by taking it to a Honda Service. This is still true in Jan 2024. Here's the warranty extension: static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2019/MC-10159030-0001.pdf
Honda had a recall on these . If you go to any Honda dealer, they will replace the entire lamp for free. I had both of mine replaced in my 2016 Accord.
Thank you for your effort in putting together this video. You convinced me that I'm not doing ANY of this and I'll just replace the whole headlight. :)
@@Thoughtflux You can get it done for free! Honda Service Bulletin 19-042. Honda-wide warranty for 10 years. The dealership will run a VIN check, and if yours is a match, they'll do it for free. You didn't have to buy your car from their dealership or anything. I have a 2016 Accord Sport. A pair of new headlights will run you between $250-$500+ depending on what you want and if you install them yourself.
Looks like a great repair if you can find a donor light and Honda won't fix it under the extended warranty, but I have a hard time believing that that seal is going to keep water and moisture out once you have broken it without cleaning up the old sealant and replacing it very carefully.
I have a Honda Accord LX 2017. I have day lights, but they are not like what you are showing. Is this for specific models? Does the unit have to be taken out the car to do this repair? Have good days!
Honda recognized the issue with the day running light that they extended the warranty to 10 years with unlimited miles. I call my local dealership about my day running light going out and they order two new headlights for me to be replaced during my upcoming oil change. I have a 2016 Accord Coupe. Why not just put new LED bulbs in the stock housings? I did that on my daughter's 2002 Ranger with 20,000 lumen headlights and the light was very bright with a great beam pattern.
Words cannot describe how much of a fucker that adhesive is to get off. Previous owner of mine added about 3x as much as well. Currently sweating my tits off getting it all out
I need some help, I bought a used passenger side headlight and when the shop installed it they said it didn’t work. They weren’t specific on why. What could be the reason for this? Could it just need a new ballast? My current passenger headlight is busted out and the only light that doesn’t work is low beam. Should I transfer my old ballast to my new headlight and see if it works? Or should I just see if I could return it?
