The concept of Art:Above:Reality, Inc. was created in 2011 by Badir McCleary with the intent to assist entrepreneurs and artistic individuals like himself, have a voice. Art:Above:Reality's focus was to become a diverse media website where motivated people could share their talents, ideas, and successes with the world. Badir worked hard and stayed dedicated and soon saw his plan beginning to fall into place.
Art:Above:Reality, Inc. embodies the motto Inspiring:Global:Artistic:Expression. We will serve as a media outlet and networking destination for entrepreneurs and artists from all walks of life. We believe that life inspires art and we all have something beautiful to share. This includes us here at Art:Above:Reality, we too are artistic and creative minds, who see the value in being an entrepreneur. We understand and appreciate what passion is able to deliver. Let us be your bridge. Let us be your shoulder to lean on. Let us, help you, express yourself.
The Black Arts ovement was such a creatively rich period in world history. The recently published book, TRYIN TIMES from the Pyramids to the Projects was born out of this very powerful movement. Below find a poem from the book. (avil/Amazon) REPARATIONS Stop interfering with our way... Can the one that destroys, ever really repair? Do we have it within us to repair ourselves or have we been so destroyed, there is no hope and the God has to settle this? Niggas been crying for reparations for the longest... Will The ones whose economy that is built on free labor now construct a new way, and tear down the old? Can the one who's education is constructed on half truths and lies, now be humble and honest? Can the nature of the beast, who has perpetuated endless horrors, now change its nature and start doing good? Have we've been so fooled into thinking it's appropriate to put a Band-Aid on a gushing wound? Reparations... ask the native Americans and the Indigenous people all over our planet, about how reparations are working for them.
"The Gallows" and "The Asylum" are so haunting to me. The man has a sense of humor on him, "The Whitehouse" was one of the greatest things I'd ever laid eyes on.❤
I love Varnette P. Honeywood’s art work, I have a signed copy of her work that sits in my bedroom called “Jesus loves me,” so spectacular. I look at it every morning when I rise. This was the first painting I ever purchased for myself. A birthday present to me. I bought the Little Bill children’s book just to get a look at her work. Thank you Bill Cosby I fell in love with Honeywood because of your show. You know I can see a bit of Varnette P.Honeywood’s work in artist Derrick Adams another great artist. Thank you , you bring honor and love to me and our community! Peace to you and your family!❤❤❤😊😊👏🏾🙌🏾👊🏾
The opening photograph that you use as a thumbnail in color, and then B&W is my photograph, Rachel J. Bernstein, which was taken during an interview that my mother, Alice Bernstein, Civil Rights Historian, did with Inge Hardison when she was 99 in her apartment in Harlem. I would like to be given credit for it since it is my original photograph. I am happy to be a part of your compilation, but just request the appropriate credit given.
Hi! Thank you Thank you for reaching out and verifying this for me. With the research on Black Artists sometimes the proper information is usually missing or misrepresented so I try to shy away from giving credit to the wrong person. I am more than happy to give proper credit and will do so. Could you please send me an email? info@artabovereality.com. Thanks!
Special Thanks to Ezra Moore and ArtAboveReality for showcasing this subject. Chat GPT and AI have taken the creative world by storm. It needs to be talked about. If I were not a parent...I would not know about all this new technology. I am struggling to see real value in chat GPT. I can see its use in technical writings. I can also see it being used as a rough draft for a wonderful story.....that will need to be edited by a human. Sure...a real artist can use computers to draw...but come on....this massively produced ai generated art on youtube is sooooooo tired. It shows a lack of true creativity. This is coming from a painter....who uses paint...so I may be biased.
Wow his work is breathtaking. I guess I needed to hear this. I’m 24 and I’m currently sick with a stomach flu and upset I can’t create any art rn, thinking that will keep me back. Comparing myself to martyrs of artist who made all their accomplishments young. I’ll be just fine.
I recently had a chance to view some of her paintings in Nashville, TN at one of their Local Museum’s. What caught my attention was a 1944 painting titled “Mob Victim”, has an awe inspiring affect within me, almost like I could relate or sense the feelings the artist was trying to convey. MS JONES did a wonderful job on this painting
Thank you for hosting and sharing this conversation. It is full of nuggets, shared experiences and common ground for black brothers doing art. Both on the business side and the creative side. Time well spent. In my language we say "Makwande' which simply means, where you have taken this generosity from, it must multiply for you and the place you took from! ❤
Big thank you!! My goal is to make sure that these conversations help to build that ground to easily collaborate, challenge respectfully, and discuss ideas of elevation. And I love Makwande.. it’s exactly my mission! 🙌
I can't express how grateful I am tor these video tributes to these lesser known heroes and artists who gave us the iconography of our history. Where history is not recorded, curated and remembered, it vanishes. Thank you.
''Black Artists in History''... Really ?! Artists are artists. They are neither Black, nor White, nor Equimos, Apaches or Nepalese. Artists who are defined themselfs above all by their skin color, ethnicity and religion are not real artists, but impostors. And those who define artists according to their racial affiliation are nothing more than opportunists, no better than those who applauded Nazism and Stalinism.
