Hi everyone. My name is Darryl and I have a strong interest in the music and vinyl communities. I hail from a small town in Northern Ontario and enjoy a variety of music genres including rock, metal, grunge and alternative. Some of my favorite music comes from the 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s. I hope you enjoy my channel.
😂 …also I was upset about Oilers losing even though I’m an Avs fan I want Canada to win now… But like my dad used to say. Wish in one hand and spit it the other… Then you’ll see where you have the most.
Hilarious. Didn't even realize this happened. Glad you had my back on this one (as I sit here at a McDonalds on vacation ch3ckong in).. lol.. glad you enjoyed the video. Cheers, Darryl.
Hey Darryl, interesting grails! I gave Sumut a listen and liked the sound of it. Sume sound like a very interesting band, so going to dig a bit deeper with them. Out of the two intro tracks, I think I preferred the first 🙂 Cheers, Jack
@TheVinylVoyage-ud3uf Sume sound pretty cool. I might make a video after my vacation of other Greenlandic bands I have in my collection. Cheers, Darryl.
Good luck finding these....or at least a few. If I had written down ten guesses of what your grails might be before watching, I would not have guessed more than three of them. lol Just kidding - I would never have guessed any of those. Rock on Darryl!
Darryl, I have Beavis and Butthead Experience on CD. Not sure if you're looking for it in that format (maybe you have it on CD already). If interested, my email address is in my channel info page. Cheers!😎🎶
Love me some Lighthouse - like Canada's Chicago. I think they burned through their jazz-rock career a little too quickly before heading into AOR land, but there is some great stuff in their early to mid catalogue. Also a big Loverboy fan - have their first 4 albums and love 'em
Wonder if anyone should do a phd on what could have happened if Limahl had stayed with Kajagoogoo? 😄 Mr. Mister kept Crowded House and their Don’t Dream Its Over off the number 1 spot! 😡 Funny story, I was in a hotel shuttle from Miami airport to Ft. Lauderdale when I heard about that on the radio 😊 Oh, Opus, summer of 1985, a 14 year old Morten was briefly popular with the girls and also discovered Depeche Mode 😊
Hey Darryl, well done on hitting 100 subs! Your vacation sounds really cool... I'm camping next week too, but at a music festival. Three nights camping is enough for me. Will try to get on your thread before I go next week. Happy holidays pal!
@TheVinylVoyage-ud3uf Right on. I've never been to a music festival... someday I hope. I'd definitely camp out for that. Thanks for all your support Jack. Cheers, Darryl.
I'm here because Nick, over at "careful with that axe Eugene" mentioned your channel. I have a question and if your answer is yes, I might sub to your channel; do you listen to bluegrass music on vinyl, CD, tape, stream, etc., etc.?
@@northernvinylguy Oh wow!! You’ve earned a new sub!! Nobody this side of the Mason/Dixon besides me and my wife have heard of Buckwheat Zydeco!! (I don’t call BZ’s music bluegrass, but I like them nonetheless.) 😎💜😎
Howzit Darryl. Splendid entry. Fun to get to knaw ya ja? I own Bloodsport on Laserdisc. And Se7en on LD and BD 😊 I will always remember listening to Ace of Base driving with friends from Kalama to Longview WA to see the Phantom Menace at the cinema. I have two Beavis and Butthead Laserdiscs 😄 Cheers from Morten
@@musicisajourney Unique indeed. As I mentioned to Mark Morris in his comment, it's not too often you hear Care Bears, Bloodsport, and crime books in the same conversation. lol
Hey, board games! I used to work with a guy who loved board games. We’d often try to set up a game night at work. I don’t have any myself, but I love playing them! I’ve even created two or three of my own card/board games.
@@musicisajourney While board games have been around for thousands of years, they are definitely a niche thing outside of the typical Monopoly or Scrabble. Oddly enough, my dad, who was my main influence on music in my life, was also responsible for purchasing me a game that wasn't a Walmart special and getting me into board gaming (though he wasn't into games himself).
This is fantastic, Darryl! I just gave you a shout out on my last video for participating in the Sleep Disorders thread, and now this! It was kind of a shock to go from Care Bears to Bloodsport, but I survived. I go through phases where I am obsessed with true crime, but then I freak myself out and I stop for awhile. Great getting to know you better and sorry about all those nearly useless board games. Maybe when your kids get older. Thanks for doing this, Darryl. You're a champ!
@MarkMorris-1962 LOL. Yes, I can see how this might throw one for a loop. It's not too often that Care Bears, Bloodsport, and crime books come into play in the same conversation. Glad you enjoyed this one. Cheers, Darryl.
Since this is a thread not a contest I will leave you my answers 1. not sure what 45's I have 2. Kiss- Dynasty Ac/dc- Highway to helllll Van Halen -2 Aerosmith night in the ruts 3. Iron Maiden - 7th son
@vinylmartini3377 Thanks Jack. Glad you enjoyed. I don't typically go about discussing myself, but it was a cool thread and I wanted to give it my all. Cheers, Darryl.
@@TheSpiritofVinyl I was just listening to the Loverboy one today.. Great stuff, but you can tell there's a bit of New Wave on that album... If you like rock, you might like Innocence by Harlequin
Well, right off the bat, I don’t know The Box. Ah, Lighthouse! I think I like the debut best actually. But the One Fine Morning album is pretty good, too. Skip Prokop was also a drummer. Motherload. I’ve heard of them but not heard them. That’s the only Harlequin album I was able to get on CD. Oh, yes, the vinyl tag! That was fun! I just finally bought some Loverboy albums last year exactly because I was making a video about Bruce Fairbairn. Hey, cool selection, Darryl! I’ll have to check out your first two in the series.
@musicisajourney Hey there... if you like that typical 80s pop music, you should check out The Box for sure. Glad you're enjoying these videos. And yes, Vinyl Tag was great (it was actually my first video I ever made). Cheers, Darryl
@MarkMorris-1962 It is a unique cover for sure. Reminds me of an adult version of those Hardy Boys sleuth books (if they had taken place in an old car).
Great idea for a thread, Darryl! I have a video I am working on to post tonight and then I'll tackle this one, hopefully, tomorrow. 100 subs is already in your sights!
I used to suffer with insomnia back in 2016. I was staying up for 2 days with no sleep. It was kind of a blessing as its when i decided to make videos about my vinyl and post on youtube
After watching Peter and a couple of other nice entries into your thread, I to am now a subscriber and have done a response as well. Good luck forward Darryl.
You are gonna make it to 100 fast!!! Good for you. I’m a new subscriber but you might not like it because now you’re stuck with Garage Geek!! It’s like catching an STD or having a bad rash.
@ChrisPropfeMusicallyObsessed Thanks Chris and welcome to my channel. I was introduced to your channel via your songs about rain thread... I did a response to it a few weeks back. If you haven't seen it, take a look and I hope you enjoy. Welcome to my channel. Cheers, Darryl
Hi Daryl, I just discovered your channel via Steve At All The World's A Stage. Nice job on your response to Mark's thread. I'm gonna check out more of your videos! Welcome to the VC! Best, Steve Love the X-Files!
@therallstonianrootedintheblues Thank you. Glad you liked the video. I hope you enjoy some of my other content. X-Files brings back some 1990s memories for sure. Cheers, Darryl.
@ThatVinylChannel Thank you. I greatly appreciate it. Saw it this morning getting ready for work. Love the Austin Powers choice. Great stuff. Cheers, Darryl.
Excellent responses! There are so many great Nick Cave songs that could give you nightmares. I am particularly obsessed with his Murder Ballads album. Thanks for doing this! I've added this video to my Sleep Disorders playlist.
@MarkMorris-1962 Thanks Mark... glad you enjoyed this. There are some crazy songs on the album that I featured that are definitely haunting as all get out. Cheers and thanks for adding mine to the Playlist. Darryl.
Hey Darryl! Great to hear you reached such a milestone...50 subs (actually 67 as I write this...amazing man!) I will put a thread up hopefully tomorrow in spite of my recent proclamation to swear off threads lol! Tongue in cheek of course, as it's impossible with so many great channels I want to support. I have no doubt you'll be talking about reaching 100 subs before long. Congrats. Great thread idea. Cheers bud! ✌️🍻🤘🎶🤘
@twangersturntable Thank you for all the positive vibes Mark. Glad you are enjoying the content and look forward to your thread response (though you're slowly moving away from that.. lol). Cheers, until next time! Darryl
@@northernvinylguy Just posted Darryl. Hope I met the criteria bud. Looking forward to watching some of the others whom have done so as well. Enjoy the weekend my friend. Cheers! 🍻✌️🤘🎶🤘
