Your benchmark is invalid due to GPU TDP probably set to 236W on Linux. It's known issue on RDNA3 cards on Linux, which can be fixed by using LACT where you can change your GPU TDP to max like on Windows.
Most of you're test is done with RDNA 3 and RDNA 3's driver is not as complete as RDNA 2's driver because the dual-path is still not fully implemented which could yield sub-par performance compared to windows.
Nice, I was curious why RT was off in your WoW videos. Got that working on my Debian 12 + Nvidia install, for a couple days at least until updates rendered my Bottles setup unable to launch (black/dark screen, chugging, having to kill process). I'm glad RT isn't off the table with linux gaming ATM.
Linux RT is equal to windows, the Linux drivers just aren't as good with RT on AMD which is why the performance is lower on Linux. If it was Nvidia it would be around equal
Pretty good. But but it might Al's be worth comparing radv and amdvlk as amdvlk has somehow better ray tracing support and possibly closer to official vulkan driver for Windows. (Not sure if d3d12 driver on windows uses same underlaing livraries exactly). I know amdvlk has some missing vulkan extensions that made it not work well with d3dvk in some games, but that was a problem like year or two ago, so maybe it is now better.
Hi there, how do I go about using this launcher on Linux Mint. I was able to install it but when I try install anything, nothing happens. What am I missing here?
I did an accident by deleting the ps4 controller in the 4.16 emulator Add tab, "Map device to controller" where the devices are, and at the Hardware tab , i can't add it back "enable" button is blank even if i see the 360 controller. What should i do?
Ty. I basically have the same build with a 6800xt. Not sure if your kernal uses the Bore cpu scheduler or if you have gamemode running but those may help since this game is so cpu bound. Thanks again!
It's cool that you're using umu-proton. The last time I tried, it was on lutris, however support was still experimental and it didn't work on Ubuntu because of a problem with bubblewrap. How are you using umu?
Super cool video did you actually activate Secure Boot in the BIOS or not? I would like to switch to Linux but so far the combination of Secure Boot Nvidia GPU driver etc. was annoying
Hi! My WoW TWW is lagging a lot. Which one do you think I should upgrade first? I have a GTX 1660 and a Ryzen 5 2600. Unfortunately, I only have enough money to replace one for now, but which one should it be?
I've been playing WoW on Linux on-and-off for 15 years. It's been one of the first games to run great on wine and Blizz actually provided some limited forum support for issues.
Just gave my 1tb nvme drive to a arch + qtile installation after finding out how easy gaming is nowadays on linux. I may be imagining it but it feels smoother and more responsive.
I have incredible lags on Linux.. My GPU only gets detected as "Low Power Mode", a few features such as color depth are not even available at 8x. Same setup, running Windows I get double the Frames and also way less lags in general. It is really odd, I don't know why this is happening. :(
Mine also is shown as Low Power. What distro are you running? 7000 series GPU drivers on Linux have problems. You need to manually set the clocks and the power limit.
@@fauguslinux I have a XFX RX 6900 XT. It doesn't matter which distro is running. I ran plain arch, endeavourOS, fedora, nobara, Ubuntu, all the same. Low Power, not all settings available.
Don't worry about the 'Low Profile' thing. As I said, mine says the same and the game performs as expected. I recommend setting the CPU governor to 'performance' and the GPU profile to 'high'. Or you can run the game with Feral Game Mode, which automatically does this for you when you run the game. I've seen some games having performance problems when having the CPU governor and the GPU profile on default settings.
@@fauguslinux Thanks. I manually set the CPU profile to performance already, didn't know about GPU. However, I also got Gamemode running already. Problem persists. Especially in big cities, FPS is only 1/3 of what I get on Windows. Outside of cities it is okay, but still less.
@@longdashes When I had a 6800XT there was a bug that I had to manually set de GPU clock, otherwise I would have performance problems. I don't know if this bug still exists.
Hi! I'm playing WoW through Bottles. However, it doesn't allow me to use Proton there... How can your application run it with Proton? By the way, I'll definitely give it a try, and thank you for all your Linux videos!
It uses UMU-Launcher, which properly run games with Proton outside Steam. On my app it's configured to run with UMU-Proton, but it can use other Proton versions as well.
This has pretty much given me the final push I think to go straight linux on the machine I should be getting Tuesday. My only hesitation is raytracing. I'd been playing with it since it was added to the game and like the shadow quality a lot. Is it the AMD graphics card that keeps you from testing with it or the driver options on Linux?
Opa, vc pode instalar o aplicativo da Epic usando o Faugus Launcher da mesma forma que eu instalei o Battle.net nesse vídeo. store.epicgames.com/en-US/download
do you mind if i have some more questions ? I use ubuntu and I get error when I run this app: -- with normal user : UMU-Proton is up to date pressure-vessel-wrap[31590]: E: Child process exited with code 1: bwrap: setting up uid map: Permission denied -- with root user: ERROR: This script should never be run as the root user I tried many ways but it was not possible, do you have any idea ?
Fagus Launcher really caught my attention but unfortunately it can't make it work with Zenlles Zone Zero, I'm not sure if it's because of the distribution since I use Ubuntu, and from what I know it is based on Debian. Maybe it's my problem when installing.
