I don't get the mental gymnastics of some people. There's a riff in HEADCRUSHER by Megadeth that's a bit similar to one of the final riffs in SEEK AND DESTROY. Some allege that Dave wrote the riff in Seek, even though there's LITERALLY no proof and his name isn't featured on that song. James wrote riffs too. Dave's name is featured on songs he wrote riffs for, which is fair enough.
Never heard anyone claim he wrote a seek riff . Especially not him . His problem is he brings a song to the band yet the writing credits go like this : Ulrich , Hetfield , Burton , Kirk , Kirks mom , James uncle , Lars dog .................. Page 2 .. Mustaine
Its 1982 . it's just a blank cassette tape in a boombox you hit record on when you have a riff idea . A lot of bands do this cause probably forget the riff later and wish you had recorded itv
Kirk only wrote the part of the song where they sing "die by my hand I creep across the land killing firstborn man." Originally that riff was used in Die By His Hand by Exodus.
So this is gonna sound weird but that riff sounds exactly like the intro riff that’s played in the song Riot by three days grace. Give it a listen and you’ll hear it. Damn near exactly the same
Even Ron mcgovney asked where this came from because he said Lars took all the tapes from his garage qhere all this was recorded when they left LA for San Fran

Same for Jump in the fire.”" He also said this: "James played guitar and wrote riffs on guitar at band practice. We played our first five gigs or so with him just singing. We played one show with Dave [Mustaine] and another guitarist. After that debacle, James played guitar and sang at shows."
I don't see why Ron would say that since the 7 song demo made at that time and that Ron played on consisted of 2 songs dave wrote before metallica ( mechanix , fire ) and 2 songs he wrote the music for and James wrote the lyrics for ( phantom , militia ) So 4 of their first 7 songs musically were all Dave's riffs
