Great setup! Thanks for the run thru! I was laughing about the roof screen - I would need to have some sort of tether cuzz I know I would forget to take it off. I have a Forester so I'm wondering if there's a bit more headroom in the back for sitting up. I had an uncomfortable chair mat last time out, but the floor is more level so didn't need a platform and was able to sit up just barely.
Great to see you back in MN. Yiu 2 shoukd have found us on the trail further south that weekend. Section q3 is great unless its fogged in like it was when i camped up there. Good video
I have bridge and GE hammocks and sleep great in both. I actually sleep better in the GE hammock, but it's modified from years of tinkering. My favorite is my Dutchware Chameleon (wide, with knotty mod).
Grea video. One suggestion: OEM or Amazon has the rain guards with adhesive that allows easy installation and helps keep the rain out if you just lower your ventilation window a couple of inches.
I loved this so much! That look of gratitude on Jeremy's face when you offered him the beer was so heartwarming. You are a genuinely good guy, Mr. Pelton.
Good to see that section! RU-vid messed up your moment when I was about to see the Section 13 view and when the music was about to hit, they hit me with a commercial 🙄🤦🏼♂️ lol
Love to do part of that trail one day. Love those boardwalks (lately my kind of trail). Definitely considering a superior hammock lately. Pinhoti Fest???
My best trail sleep is always in a hammock and I pretty much only tent when I absolutely must. I'll even carry my Tensa solo sometimes, so i can still hang woth only one tree. I've had friends over the years ask to try a hammock and I always help (who doesn't have multiple hammocks?). I've come to understand that when people try it and dont like it, there are usually one of two things going on. 1. They don't listen to you about how to lay in a hammock. They try to banana or they think you have it set up too loose and fiddle with the setup, making it less comfortable than it should be. 2. They don't trust the hammock. They feel unsafe and can't relax enough to get comfortable. They are frightened by the movement or swaying and feel unsecured. Hammocking isn't for everyone. I don't judge, but I'm sad for folks who can't settle into a hammock because I enjoy them so much. I wish they could enjoy it like I do.
It definitely seems like it works, but one of my suggestions might be to flip the bed board around so that your feet rest on the hinge. I feel like putting the heaviest part of your body on the hinge will eventually start to wear on it. Our feet/legs are considerably lighter than our torsos/heads if that makes sense. Amazing video though! I'll be buying a crosstrek here in a couple days and I'm super excited to have more room to do this type of this (Currently have an '03 Camry haha)
That sounds like an intense adventure with a mix of heat, storms, and great company! Definitely makes for some memorable moments. Thanks for sharing the wild experience! 💕
Great video! One of my concerns, the back-seat hump, you addressed perfectly! The homemade bed platform is excellent! Thanks for this! Have you entertained the thought of doing some meet-ups? I’d be down for a Crosstrek trek! 😎
What do you do if it rains for ventilation? I noticed that you don't have window deflectors. So, how to keep the airflow from a window without water entered in?
ohhh I like this idea of sleeping on the passenger side. I really struggled with getting into the drivers seat from my sleeping area when the driver's seat was pushed all the way forward. Good idea.
Hiii, I’m currently on the lookout for a new car and I’m hoping to either get a RAV4 or a Subaru Crosstrek that I can use for future camping trips. I found a 2022 Subaru on Facebook marketplace and after watching your video it made me want to go and check it out. Maybe that’ll be my next car? 👀 How do you like your Crosstrek?
