I can't get excited about a runabout restored and maintained professionally, owned by someone with more money than God, but watching a real person craft something like this for himself is just phenomenal. Truly amazing and inspiring. She will be a gorgeous vessel when finished, and I can't wait to see it.
Very nice Serdar. As her designer, its gratifying to see the level of craftsmanship you're putting forth in her construction. I look forward to video 3. The Ferrari reference still puzzles me however. Cheers
Ah, I just fall in love with sllipper launches after Ferrari's designer have a custom one built for himself. I was simply googling "ferrari slipper launch" too find the images, so here we are 😀
Absolutely loving the videos and the music... This build takes me back to helping my uncle and grandfather (now passed away) restore my Grand fathers hand-built mahogany boat. (My Grandfather built the boat from scratch at 19 or 20.) The experience was very soothing and frustrating at times and I think your videos capture that experience very well even without saying it... The music makes the video feel very emotional and building boats like this is a rollercoaster of emotion, and makes me remember my grandfather... Thank you!!! P.S. There is a group I think you would really like that you may not have heard of from the early mid 2000"s. They are a called " ZOX" They do alt/pop/punk rock with an electric violin and recreate classic with an upbeat flare!!
Interesting project I thought to myself! But then I saw you make the steam-bended and laminated parts (in vid #1) using cheap ass PLASTIC quick-clamps and I immediately lost my interest, as you could see the big gaps in the laminate when "finished". Why dont ppl learn how to glue with proper technique and PRESSURE!?
You are absolutely correct. Lamination with clamps (any clamps) is not the correct method. It will lead gaps between laminations due to pressure differences. I also don't like steaming large pieces anymore as it increase humidity and sandwiched and epoxied laminations will have the water trapped. Why I did it? Because I'm an amateur boat builder and I'm learning while building. If watch my video (second part) very same transom piece that I used clamps originally is now laminated with vacuuming on it's final layer. I didn't knew what is vacuuming 8 months ago. This is not a "how to" video. This is my journey of learning how to build a boat. If I could start over, I would do 100 things differently.
@@serdarbas8016 I see! Thanks for taking time to reply :) Im impressed you wandered out into such a big project with reduced knowledge of boatbuilding. It must be very rewarding to learn form wrong-doing and correct them accordingly. I wish you the best of luck on you future endeavours, builds and maiden voyage of you new vessel.
