I have yet to share my review which will differ from yours in a few ways. That being said, I did like it. I just liked the 1st one better & Heath Ledger will forever be my favorite Joker. Bkuz French is something I never learned, I thought "Folie a deux" meant "part 2." 😆😆🤦🏿♀️🤦🏿♀️ I should be embarrassed to say that, but I'm not. HOWEVER, when I learned what "Folie a deux" meant in English, PERFECT TITLE!! Absolutely perfect title! I love musicals as well. Even though I called this a musical, I see what you mean btwn a musical vs. a movie with singing & dancing. 💯 Mr. Phoenix's interpretive dance is FANTASTIC & YESSSSS each song chosen fit SO well. Yet, I wasn't expecting so much singing, so it bothered me 😆 Lady Gaga - if I'm not mistaken, she has played in a couple of movies where she did not sing. One coming to mind is the designer movie. I want to say Versace, but I could be wrong. She was great & I don't remember her singing at all. Again, overall, I agree it was a good movie.💯💙, 🏖️📺🎥🍿
I will definitely see it when it comes to a streaming platform as I can't get to a theatre easily. I almost never listen to reviews and like to make my own decisions, but I'll wholeheartedly admit that I'm definitely more inclined to watch it now.
The movie wasn’t a musical - but “musical” was the trope that Arthur projected internally to make sense of his surroundings. In the first movie, it was all standup and talk show settings. He could get up on stage and hit his cues - but he wasn’t funny. Because he was just acting in the format he internalized.
I know many won't see this or agree and that's fine I just wanted to get this out somewhere. I loved this movie I really did even though I was born in the 2000's I recognized many of the songs throughout the movie. The acting and the cinematography were on another level I've never been a fan of musicals but this was the first I enjoyed. What really grabbed me much like the first is being able to relate to the pain Arthur felt and went through I'm sure we've all had a bad day. I get most didn't like the ending but to me it felt real life is full of disappointment and unmet expectations. Most of our stories won't end with a bang but a whimper and so did Arthur's and to me It was perfect.
My lady and I saw this opening weekend based on the trailer - and it was quite different. Still we liked it, but Kravitz just missed on a couple of pieces of the logic (probably lost in editing.) Still, very powerful
I appreciate your perspective and critique of this film. I enjoyed the film, there was a lot to like. I do wish they explained why Lydia couldn’t see her dead husband, when she sees other dead people. They kinda skipped over that. Loved Michael Keaton; some haters said he was only there for 17 minutes total. I didn’t time it, but even if that’s true, it was the perfect amount. Adored Catherine O’Hara as Delia. Love that she’s finally getting her flowers after working hard in the industry.

I couldn’t disagree more. It handled certain nuances a modern generation has to navigate exceptionally well. I felt the title was a little click-baity, and maybe even a little brash, but the final act of the film really started to pull it all together. -It was beautifully done and honestly, exceeded my expectations.
I LIKE YOU!!! I’m a Bronx native myself and I agree with you 100% I’ve scratched my head about her rise in Hollywood for years. Just like you I really wanted to like this even though I can’t stand her lol
Can’t wait to see it! I’ve already spoiled it for myself. The Blade of it all doesn’t hold as much appeal to me because of the Halle of it all. I’d like to enjoy his performance but… I won’t.
🤣🤣🤣 I HOWLED @ “white nonsense.” I wasn’t initially interested in this until I found out it was a remake, and then in learning more about the original film, it’s the “white nonsense” that gets them into trouble and is the very thing the movie criticizes!
Beetlejuice holds a special nostalgic place in my heart. I had it on vhs as a kid. I loved the sequel. I appreciated that they didn’t make the situation w/ Astrid and Jeremy into the overplayed teen love story like Casper or whatever. My main critique is that I wish they would’ve fleshed out more of Delores’ character. Also Jeffrey Jones pled no contest to possession of CSAM and has been re-arrested twice for not registering as an offender.
In the theater I said "this reminds me of the WIZ emerald city scene" when I saw the Soul Train!!! i didnt feel hate at all. if anybody is going to be having a big party in the after life where its joy and love it is us. I loved it. The movie wasnt ground breaking but it was a fun time. I think we need more films that are just a good time again. the wardrobe and costume designs were amazing but its Tim Burton thats what I lik about his eye. I sang and danced in the theater here in Queens and walked out not confused or offended. id say 4/5 for me.
If you saw me and my mother in the streets you would think we was enemy's and kin to eachother. Andre Character is real. Family beef is real. Family sometimes will hit you with negative energy just to hurt you.
Maybe Lee Daniels made this movie for the people in the Midwest because i love the film. Andra Day character is the exact replica of my mother and the way she copes with her own trauma.... I can relate i love this movie its on my rewatch list.
I just want to say, the thumbnail CRACKED ME UP!! OMG haahaahaahaahaa. As I type this, I have not watched the video yet. Just had to say that! haahaahaahaa.
00:16:16 I disagree I thought the anti-catholic sentiments he had Aujanue saying then showing the stigmata was misguided. Then he threw every Christian trope at this film. I am surprised he had no one dancing around with snakes. No presence of Hoodoo, which if he had shown anointing oil or healing herbs, any acknowledgment of the Ancestors assisting in cleansing it wouldn't seem like just a salad of Christian lore without much study or reverence for the subject matter. When he said that Andra Day speaking in tongues wasn't scripted was insulting, like we didn't see her slide across that floor...Give me a freaking break, please. I felt tricked
You can tell he spent all the money on Glenn Close. Because all the other great actors got like 30 seconds of screen time. Omar Epps and Tasha Smith, and Aunjanue Ellis Taylor had like 10 minutes combined, a shame.
@@ProfessorCinephile IM NOT AFRAID TO CALL A DUCK A DUCK I HAVE NOTHING TO LOSE SAD PART ABOUT IT IS THESE PEOPLE KNOW WHAT THEY ARE BUT THEY'RE TRYING TO PUT UP A REPUTATION THAT THEY'RE NOT.
wasnt so bad it was laughable....i expected more from the twist gentleman or shoud i say gentleman with a twist?...hmmm either way. i will catch this film on streaming when i am board or my inbox is dry.
I get to be the first comment? crazy. So wild I went crazy last time I was watching your vids I forgot to sub. so here I am, catching up again. next video...TRAP. You dont look happy in the thumbnail...lets see. Love bad boys. Martin and Will never gets old, even when they do
The extra side story I've never heard concerning Latoya and her story. The presence was still in the house after they left to the point Zac Bagans from Ghost Adventures bought the house and tore it down so no one else would go through it. I wonder if Lee is trying to take over Jordan's "black horror movie" lane.
I really enjoyed the film. It wasn’t perfect like you said but very well done. She has a very unique voice and I hope she makes more films in the future.
