We used to travel along the Cat and Fiddle at least once a month as we lived in Chester and our parents lived in Lincolnshire. Love that road but of course in the early 80s there wasn’t the traffic there is now! Great video again thanks Gail and Rob 👍🏼
Is the cost a lot more for a fully serviced pitch? I’m not a member of either club yet. Hopefully getting my caravan in Spring 2025 and I’ll join then. Are you members of both clubs? Loving your videos Rob and Gail 😘

Hi there Pete and Su, We had a super time at Southport. We explored all over and did lots 😁. We loved the amazing beaches. Trust you Sue 😂 but you made Gail smile. Model engineers miniature railway is apparently open Sundays. Eye Kettleby is one of our favourites. It’s a very relaxing place to spend 10 days especially with the weather you had. Brilliant mod thank you for sharing. Did you make the stainless steel hooks yourself? How did you do that and what gauge of stainless steel is it, is it easy to bend? Sorry for all the questions 😂
Hi Barbs, Yes I made the hooks myself. I used 3mm stainless steel rod. I show this in my video titled ‘Caravan Grey Waste Extension’. Knowing what I know now, I would have used 2mm stainless rod as it would have been good enough and easier to bend. Don’t mind the questions at all Barbs 👍. Best wishes, Rob & Gail 😀
I like a challenge Barbs and my technical mind helps solve problems 😁. Bear in mind the extras on our toilet are not standard. The electric blade is a factory option, but only if a new toilet is ordered / purchased to replace an existing toilet. The marvellous ventilator kit which includes the multi level waste indicator is widely available as a retrofit. Thanks again for watching, Rob & Gail 😀

A lovely site to visit with so much to see and do. The walks looked so peaceful with the sound of the water and beautiful views, away from hustle and bustle, my dogs would love it 🐕. Hi Morag, This was one of our all time favourite holidays. The site was top notch as are all Morris Leisure sites. Stanmore Hall is one of their sites and this holiday stands out for us too. Agree Llanberis is a village with a difference and to think Gail thought we were going to struggle for things to do there, she soon ate her words 😂 . Sadly Sefton Council don’t seem to have any interest in getting the pier open again. They have paid lip service by having some testing done but not move things along any further.
That’s a shame Babs. You would think the council would want to preserve the second longest pier in Britain. It needs a helping hand from the National Lottery. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍, Rob & Gail 😀
Yes Barbs the club know how to charge at prime seaside resorts because they know they can fill their pitches. When we add up the great weather we had, the brilliant time we had and the sites perfect location, it was worth it for us. We’ve never been to Wells Next the Sea but are aware of Pinewoods site and it’s on our to go to list one day. However you may be surprised to learn pitch prices between 8th and 13th July 2024 were £49 / night weekends and £42 midweek. But from 20th July to 3rd Sept they are asking a staggering £60 / night ! wow ! Our trip to Cleethorpes in June was an absolute bargain at £25 / night and we loved it there. Thank you Barbs 👍. I just use the Colapz pipes on the end of the rigid pipe into the drain point. Warm water will cause them to sag if suspended between ground pegs if trying to create a fall towards a drain point. I touch on this in our Llamberris video. Never been to Southport, must put it on our list. Would love to visit the sculptures on Crosby beach they look amazing. Weve stopped booking fully serviced pitches on CAMC sites as they are not always the best pitches and theres much more choice if we just go for EHU but fully serviced pitches are so much easier! We're definitely finding better value on independent sites and much better facilities.😊
Hello Carol and Stephen, great to know our video may influence you to visit Southport👍. It certainly kept us entertained. Although the sculptures have been on Crosby beach for 19 years we had no idea of their existence until someone mentioned them a few days prior to our holiday. So glad we were enlightened as they were amazing ! We too have always said the pricier serviced pitches are not necessarily in the best location and can often be found clustered around the facility block. Gail had a wonderful view of the ladies toilet door when we had our caravan door open 😂 She was not amused. We always stay on a mix of sites and will hopefully visit a serviced CL next trip with a view and a bit of breathing space in front ! All the best Rob & Gail 😀

As a resident of Southport (Birkdale) I think you have done the area proud with your film. The Miniature Engineering club, and adjacent Model Boat Club are open on Sundays and nearby Birkdale Village is a fantastic spot for food, drink and local produce. Well done, and glad you enjoyed your visit. 👍

Great vlog! Very clear and well explained. I've never been to Southport but it looks pleasant enough. 😊 Once again I'm underwhelmed by the C&MC site. Top dollar for a site with nothing special. Were there TV plugs on the pitches? I've also heard that the wifi isn't that great there. The best thing appears to be the location itself!
Cheers Tommo and we’re pleased you enjoyed the vlog. We enjoyed exploring and found plenty to keep us occupied so can recommend a visit 👍. There wasn’t anything particularly wrong with the site, we just weren’t keen on the pitch itself and its lack of privacy. There wasn’t a TV hook up on the bollard but it didn’t require one with having such a good signal to the caravan aerial. Don’t know about Wi-Fi as we use the personal hotspot on our phone. Brilliant information and remember the great sands and model village there as a kid. The shop arcade architecture reminds me of Llandudno and the pride, planning and common sense that went into everything. Yes, climate change on clear display, since recollections and adolescent memories, a lot more wind and not quite as sunny 👍

We like the East Yorkshire coast very much and you’ve been lucky with the weather. Hi Rob & Gail we were at Southport camc site 5th to 7th july we have been twice this year and enjoy it there as we are able to walk into town plenty to see and do,shame the pier is closed they need 10 million pounds to repair it apparantly so could be shut a while. Weather wasn't that good when we last went so spoilt it a bit,but we are going back in september. Hope to see you again soon, you need to do more blogs me and hubby love watching you both, take care xx
Hi Julie, Just missed you by a few hours, but our paths may cross one day 😁. We found the site really handy to explore from too. Lots to see and take in on the walk into town and we liked that. Everyone is missing the pier, we certainly did and it’s a shame it will remain closed for the foreseeable future. Let’s hope the weather cheers up for you in September for your return visit. No it isn't. It is Barrow in Furness. Look on a good map a) IOM is 70 mile from Southport, and at street level the Horizon is only 50 mile away. b) From Southport the IOM bearing is about 30 degrees west Blackpool Stating it is IOM is an urban myth with many Sandgrounders (Locals)
@@arthurdent2900 Hello Arthur, OS maps are the best 👍. I’ve just checked and Black Combe stands 500 plus metres above Barrow in Furness. There is a trig point North East of Barrow in Furness, at Furness, which is a mere 156 metres above sea level. But you are correct it’s definitely not IOM.
