I make videos about Tesla and other tech products. If you have any questions about Tesla (particularly the Model X) let me know, I'd be happy to try and answer them.
WHAT! I didn’t even know a dock there existed! 😮 I searched the web and couldn’t find a place to buy it… Can you provide information on how to get that? Tx
do you have to have the lock set up to a hub (like the actual modem thing) in order to use the SmartThings app to connect the lock to the app? Or can your lock be connected to the app with no hub?
Nerdy Engineer, I love what you did! How much did you spend on supplies to make that box? Also, I would maximize the width of the box to fit tightly between the two seats, leave the back of the box open, so it's much easier to load the skis. Further, upon returning home from skiing and after emptying the box, tip it up to drain the melted snow.
I was curious about this one question... does your charger for your home have to be inside of your garage? Or can it be installed outside like by my garage door? I don't use my garage for my vehicle.
No. Your charger doesn't have to be in your garage. I've seen a lot of installations outside of garages. Tesla's hard wired wall charger is designed for indoor or outdoor installation.
@The Nerdy Engineer great thanks for the reply. Do you have experience driving in heavy snow? I live in south jersey and during the winter months we can get hit severely with snow. I currently drive a GMC Acadia Denali but I figure within the next year I will trade it in but I'm gaining interest in electric vehicles though I am a SUV guy.
You're welcome. Yes, I actually have a video or two on driving in the snow. I lived in Colorado for a few years with the Model X, and it did great. Granted, Colorado doesn't get as much ice as the northeast, but everything I've read (and my personal experience) is that Teslas handle very well in snow and ice. If you get ice where you live, I'd highly recommend a set of nice winter tires. In Colorado, I just used all-season tires and they worked well for that climate.
You have a blind spot. If the supercharger station hangup with long line every pros you mentioned is moot. While gas stations could run out of gas too so the best evacuation cars should be PHEV and then gas, EV; in that order.
thank you very much- I will consider buying it soon and will use referral code/link when i do. DO we get 1000 miles of free super charging or lifetime? BTW, which "feel"s the best in terms of ride comfort? I get vertigo easily so I would prefer something with less bumpy feeling. How about sound? which is quieter? Thanks!
I think the Model S and X have a little better ride comfort and quieter, but the Model 3 and Y are still good. I don't think you can really go wrong with any. Unfortunately, Tesla stopped giving away free supercharging miles a few months ago.
You forgot to mention that most people do not own homes or have a garage. Especially in NYC so that goes against your logic about charging your EV at home. I’ll wait until There’s more chargers before I buy an EV thank you.
Great comparison vid - you def hit the most important points! We had to evacuate a wildfire in CA recently, and chose to take our Model S, for many of the same reasons you chose your X.
Better off staying where you are. You can drive all you want the Hurricane goes where it goes. Forecast are just guesses. I have been in Florida for 40 years and never evacuated. You will probably put yourself in the path. Of course get off the coast at least a couple miles.
I think either would be fine. In my next Model X, I'm actually going with the 7 seater. I like the fold flat configuration of the middle row in the 5 and 7 seater. And the 7 seater gives the extra flexibility of using those back to seats if we ever need them.
Well any Mercedes has better autopilot that any Tesla, and most of them are cheaper than a model X. Tesla's look like they have no idea what they are doing sometimes, like in smart summon and autopark, the Mercedes cars know exactly what they are doing and very confidently. Unfortunately the statement about Tesla autopilot being years ahead isnt very true:)
Im thinking of buying one 👍👍👍 i don’t understand the pricing as of july 2021, It says estimated savings I don’t understand do you get the tax money for the gasoline savings or is that just a proposed amount ?? I don’t get the whole Pricing
