My mother saw Constance Shacklock in the London run of this show in 1963. She told me that the night she went, Mother Abbess struggled to hit the closing high notes of this song .... she calmly and bravely asked the orchestra to begin the song again, then utterly nailed it! My mum said she got a rousing ovation much like when an acrobat takes a tumble, then gets back up and performs flawlessly. Considering that she was performing 8 shows a week and over 2,000 performances at her advanced age, my mother was always impressed by her courage and determination that night.
Bellissimo fraseggio e tecnica.
That was absolutely sublime. What a singer, what an artist, what a musician. My heart nearly stops when I listen to Franz Völker. Nobody caresses the phrase like he did. Thank you for posting this treasure ❤️👍🏻
