I have been looking forward to this episode since you began reacting to the show! This twist is mind blowing and make so much sense. No one I have ever seen react to it have ever seen it coming. And it’s one of the best twists because they didn’t hide it at all. In fact Fitz literally suggested that he might have been having a psychic split at the beginning of the season. But everyone just brushes over it. Even when they make it blatantly obvious with Fitz’s actions. I love plot twists where you don’t go ‘I can’t believe this is happening!’ But instead ‘Of course this is what’s happening! This is the only thing that could have happened. How did I not see it before! How could I be so stupid!’ Like this makes so much sense but they fill it up with so much writing, they rely on peoples love for the character and behind the anomaly. And oh my gosh this is insane writing like of course this is what happens next. I hate that this is what happened next but based off of his brain damage in season 1 and living a different life his brain is clearly going to be messed up. It’s just such a bloody good show and I’m so exciting to watch the rest of the season. I’ve never seen a plot twist like this executed so well, and I don’t know it I ever will again. I just can’t believe they got away with handing us everything on a silver platter. Literally telling us what was going on, blantantly showing Fitz acting strange and didn’t hide any of it. They didn’t try and distract you from it they made it blatantly out in the open and yet YOU STILL ARE SHOCKED BY THE TWIST! That takes some bloody good writing and I will always forever be holding any plot twists up to this episode to compare. Because damn! You were very chill watching it though 😂 probably the chillest I’ve seen 😅

I agree 100%, I don't like when shows do a twist out of nowhere and they act like all cleaver having blindsided you, the best twists are those you blame yourself for not seeing all along. I remember early in the season people were discussing Fitz being left behind, and it was maybe the first time after all these years I realized how critical Fitz's time away from the team has been, even though it was Iain having a scheduling conflict that made it necessary, it ended up helping shape the character and that's another underrated talent of the show writers, they manage to use even production issues to their favor.

Jemma was not having trouble seeing a drastic metical procedure. She was having an emotional rection to seeing her best friend, Daisy, being treated that way by her Husband who was experiencing a split personality. Here are 4 reasons why Fitz's emotional reaction and crying make perfect sense. #1 He was completely devistated when he came out of the framework knowing that he had murdered people in cold blood. #2 After all the heartbreak he's had when it comes to feeling betrayed by people he cared about (Ward, Radcliff, his father), now he was dealing with being betrayed by himself. #3 Imagine being Fitz and coming face-to-face with a part of yourself that scares you more than anything. #4 Fitz was experiencing an extreme level of anxiety the entire episode. Anxiety leads to insomnia, confusion, and yep, a lot of crying!!! Fitz's behavior made perfect sense.

I don't know if this is THE most loved since there are episodes that tend to be ranked higher and this one led to a lot of divisiveness. Tho, the acting is definitely a high point of praise and still holds up even if the story is gonna have problems down the line. Still I feel like while Iain deserves praise the other actors in the plot line (Chloe, Liz, Jeff) deserve some props too. Chloe especially made this whole thing so uncomfortable to watch it's probably a big part of why people were so mad about what went down cause the hurt going on was so raw.

I love your reactions, my dude, but I’m gonna object to the notion that emotions are weakness. They aren’t. Letting one’s emotions dictate actions certainly isn’t wise and being overcome by emotions is to lose control but emotions themselves are not weakness. That sort of thinking is pushing in the direction of repression or sociopathy. Or repression via intentional pseudo-sociopathy which leads to an explosion of bottled up emotions. But again, emotions themselves are not weakness. They are like water to us. Too little and we dry up. Too much and we drown. A large burst of it and it sweeps away everything in its path. …but we nonetheless need water, as we do emotions. Without either, we cease to be human.

This episode is so good! And it also introduces an impossible moral dilemma that (at the time) tore the fandom apart a bit. For me, I see both sides. I feel so incredibly bad (and violated) for Daisy’s sake. She had little to no painkillers, she was awake the whole time, and she was cut into against her will by someone she trusted. He technically had control of his actions because Doctor!Fitz IS him, and a part of him doesn’t regret what happened. Daisy never deserved that, and Fitz shouldn’t have done that, ever. On the other hand though…it was the only way to close the rift and prevent further harm and death. And Daisy never would have consented to getting her powers back because she knows, in one way or another, she helps to destroy the world. There’s also all the stress that Fitz was going through, which aggravated his brain injury and encouraged the voices and appearance of the Doctor in the first place, and it’s not like he had any outlet to get help for his…I guess you would call it schizophrenia in this case? Idk. He IS hearing voices. I don’t want to support Fitz’s side or anything, but like Jemma said…high stakes come with impossible decisions with potentially terrible costs, even when it’s the “only” way. Also, people throw up for many reasons lol. Imagine how stressed Jemma is from not only caring for Elena and dodging the anomalies, but then figuring out that her own husband is being heavily affected by his evil doppelgänger. Stress really fucks with your stomach; I know from experience, so it could also be from that. And to answer your question…that twist absolutely shocked me. Did not see it coming at all. Having the anomalies occur at the same time was genius on their part.
@defrostedrobot77
@defrostedrobot77 День назад
What do you mean "at the time"? People are still complaining about that whole situation to this day. SPOILERS FOR THE SEASON While its true that people can throw up for a number of reasons, having it happen so soon after a convo about FitzSimmons' descendants feels wildly coincidental. And you would think if this was gonna happen because of stress it would happen at the height of it rather than the more lowdown period. Either way, it's hard not to blame people for thinking this was a sign of pregnancy, since otherwise it feels like an odd note to end the scene on.

Remember in Season 1, when Mae said Simmons was a bad liar and worried about Simmons being under cover with Hydra, and how well Simmons played Hydra?? Now here we are seeing Simmons played fake Shield!? 😲😁 Idk where we are directly on the MCU timeline, I know we're post Cap America, Civil War, but I think fake Shield turns into the International Damage Control that we've seen in other MCU titles, like during the Ms Marvel series!? 🤔🤔 Just a thought! We also saw The Doctor’s influence when Fitz pulled a gun on Enoch the first time they met, when Fitz woke up from cryo-sleep and Enoch asked him if he “had it in him” to play the role of a ruthless space killer and when Fitz guessed that Kasius had the humans kill each other, while they were having diner, and shocked the whole party at the table. Excellent writing (as per usual)!_*

This episode was great, such a masterclass of Iain’s ability to act the hell out of an episode. As for your comment about his acting not being all there because Fitz was very emotional throughout the whole episode, I think you’re forgetting that this is a big part of his brain injury acting up. Because he’s so tired and been through so much in such a short amount of time that he is having trouble with what is real and what isn’t. His confusion and fear being thrown in the mix is what makes it so compelling. Imagine being actually face to face with the worst version of yourself. So yeah getting all these little details from his brain injury to the framework to cryosleep to the feardimention is what made Fitz do what he did this episode including him being more emotional and reactive, he kinda just broke.

I’m ngl it is really unnerving to see how happy Gavin is during watching this episode 😂 I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone react like this this episode 😂 I hate watching this episode even tho it is a masterpiece. The acting from Iain, Chloe and Elizabeth is stellar. But it just makes me so incredibly uncomfortable, especially when Daisy’s on the table just screaming, crying and begging. It’s so hard to watch. Hehe, wonder which side you are on, it's the right side btw lol. My problem with the civil war wasn't this incident itself, because I legit understand both sides, but how the fandom started acting as if all other characters have never done anything questionable or wrong, one of the best things I love about this show is the characters are complex and flawed, how I could understand when for example Jemma was against inhumans because of what happened with Trip, or how Daisy went back to Hive because she was having withdrawal. In season 1 Coulson caused 2 random agents to die because they were guarding the Tahiti facility and he needed to get it to save Daisy, that was OK I guess, but for some reason this is the one action that caused the fandom to implode, it's fascinating really.

I feel split between Mack and Yoyo in that discussion. As for the final moment and the way the shadowy dude said 'Hydra', SPOILER FOR THE END OF THIS SEASON BELOW (safe if you've finished season 5): He pronounced it weird because he's an alien, so Hydra means nothing to him and there, to me at least, a hint of derision towards Hydra: to him, Hydra isn't some important organisation, they are basically a little organisation on a backwards planet that thinks too much of themselves.

I don't think that's what happened, Fitz says he's been hearing the doctor in his head ever since he left the framework, but the lack of sleep and stress of this situation caused Fitz's mind to start showing him things, he knew deep down he needed Daisy's power, but couldn't admit it to himself, so he imagined it's the Doctor doing it, they even show him being the one to push Daisy to disable the Cameras, he sort of compartmentalized the pragmatic side of himself and manifested the Doctor so he can do what has to be done.

@@NoorAhmed-nk2jqIMO, the whole mental split ends up being a Rorschach for the viewers. The human mind is a dangerous place for anyone to presume they know how it works. I think the triumph of the episode is that it asks (pun intended) invasive questions about the nature of personality and human neurophysiology without presuming to answer them. Even Jemma and Fitz disagree on the nature of Fitz’s mental state. Quite frankly, I love that it created passionate debate (though I’m sad people take it too far and become divisive).
