This was around a 1' tide... goes much lower... this weekend went down to -2' I think! This is a really unique beach and the lower the better for exploring the tidal pools
Thanks! Not really my best effort as I mainly post WA state hikes so did not capture a lot of video, but then there were some really beautiful moments caught "on film" so decided why not? ;) Appreciate the encouragement.
These are trails I hiked as a late teen back in 1969. Didn't have the technology to do videos back then. So enjoyed the hike. We came at it from the Klapatche side, because the West Side Road was open back then. What music is that you have layered into your video?
Thanks for sharing! Having the West Side back open would help with over crowding in the park for sure. I probably need to freshen my music... i am using a quick-and-easy video editor and it comes with its own licensed music (pretty limited). I need to expand my horizons but the next adventure keeps getting in the way! 😊
Hi there! hoping you'll see this today - do you know where I can find a map of the Kangaroo pass trail? so far all I have found are Kangaroo Temple and Wallaby Peak which are both steeper and shorter. Your review of Kangaroo pass said it is about 7 miles and 1800 ft gain, which sounds perfect, so we are trying to go here this weekend.
Gaia has a map - it is called Kangaroo Pass Climber's Trail. I believe it is on the way to the temple... which has bigger stats. But if you start at the hairpin turn after WA pass... you cannot go wrong. Just do not expect to see a clear trail until a little ways in. Good luck!
Did this hike twice in 1967, nicely done. I'll I had then was a small 35mm film camera. Its so great now that we can video like this. Good job. It amazes me that the trail is exactly as it was back then.
There is no rock climbing experience required. The final 200 ft ascent to the lake basin is a bit of a scramble, but nothing technical. There are really two routes - the scramble one that most folks take, and a switchbacking rocky trail that is a little more moderate. Have fun!
Absolutely gorgeous! As a washington local, I've been on the lookout for larch hikes that are slightly more on the down-low compared to the Enchantments. I'll certainly add this to my list!
I cannot say I saw any fish but there were a number of folks fishing, and there was a rock barrier at the end of the lake that looked like it was to prevent fish from going over the waterfall at the outflow... so suspect it is stocked. Beautiful spot to fish for sure!
Yes it is! The switchbacks are now nice and wide, and very smooth. Still some rough terrain from the trailhead to the Source Lake junction, which is good I think.
This is our jam, keep it up! Fellow PNWers here :) : ) Have not visited Dog yet this year, but this looks like you hit it at the RIGHT time! Great video.
_Really cool and interesting hiking adventure footage, the stunning beauty and exciting of incredible Dog Mountain Trail scenery is clearly shown and enhanced by peaceful music. Thank you so much for always sharing wonderful inspiration._
