@@youtubevip1mod well as I mentioned in the video, this was my wife's van. I certainly would have made a video of the timing chain replacement except she asked me for a divorce about two weeks after this video was made. It became her problem at that point. 🤣
Looks like it sits level, if you put heavier springs up front it might make it look like it's Carolina squatting.😁 She looks and sounds good, for open headers it sounded kinda quiet while you were driving it or was that a noise cancelling microphone on your phone? Mine has a 3.23 rear gear with posi, it works very well for cruising. Anything much higher than a 3.64 gear probably won't be very highway friendly I wouldn't imagine. A 3.08 gear is perfect for a 700R4 if the adapter wasn't so expensive. And a gear vendors unit isn't any cheaper, I think those are about 2k now!🤨 So it seems like the 3.08 is an ok compromise for a cruiser. Very cool car.😎👍
@@avainaduarte8855 could be a multitude of problems causing that. That'll have to be diagnosed by an experienced mechanic in person. It would be impossible for me to do it without having it in front of me.
Did you install an EGT probe? Also, how were you able to tell that 1 5/8 turns was what you needed on the fuel adjustment knob? Also, what did you use for a gasket seal when you removed the shims under the injection pump? Thanks for sharing.
@@guyweber8204 I did not install an EGT probe. I turned up the fuel until it started making black smoke under a load and then backed it off a little bit.
Great video and great explanation! Had the same problem ain’t went with your idea and bought an exact oem coil and everything runs perfect now. Thanks!
Knock on wood my 2021 bronco sport first edition has been trouble free except I just got a recall notice stating that I needed to have the computer reprogrammed, which so far has not seemed to affect its performance.
@@OBS.Rey__ this is a good question. You certainly could just shim one side if that's how the math worked out for you. However, you should be aware that if you only shim one side that you are also effectively changing the stroke.
@@carguy_6618 nothing special, just a typical standard 2 1/4 inch quiet Muffler that the Muffler Shop supplied. They're pretty long, I would say somewhere between 24 and 30 inches long. Probably like what would have been on it originally.
Nice truck , I just picked up a Ford Ranger 1992 xlt 3.0 automatic 99.000 original miles. Love the truck . Good luck with yours. I am also in NC. What part of North Carolina are you if you dont mind telling me?
Was this issue reported to the NHTSA ? I am currently having Transmission failures with a 2021 Big Bend. My best hope now is to NHTSA issue a recall on all these shitty Bronco Sports to get it fixed .
@@JulianVelasquez-l3u not that I am aware of. Is your issue the same as the one I described here? I no longer have this vehicle, I got rid of it very shortly after this incident. Didn't trust it.
@76629online Most are not garage queens. They have been in the sun for 20 years now, and if you attempt to take that dash out, it will shatter in a million pieces.
No. As I stated in the video, this was my wife's van, she ended our marriage about 10 days after I made this video, before I had a chance to fix it. It became her problem at that point. I got no idea whatever happened to this van.
@@76629online I might have to try indeed. I was thinking of that little tab on the bearing to prevent it from spinning. If/when you shim the bearing, doesn't that make the tab less effective since it wouldn't be seated as deeply?
Have 21 Badlands. They replaced sone hose that i could not go more than 45 mph. Not sure what that is but now turbo kicks in. Just last week, the battery just died. Nothing was on. 3yrs only 21k miles. Changed the battery at Advanced Auto Parts. They young guys changed it for me. It was hell changing the battery. Just a nice guy. I recommed Eveyone going there. Thinking abouut buing an extended warranty now.
A friend had battery only last a year. He thinks it's because of auto start/stop feature. He now has a product installed that turns off that feature automatically, so he doesn't have to remember every time he starts the car.
A few switch pitch 400s may have appeared in some later production 1964 year model cars, but they were not common. Also another interesting tidbit, the TH/ST 400 transmission was actually based on the Super Turbine 300. They just added another planetary. You can actually take the torque converter, front pump and input shaft from an ST300 and install it into any non-metric TH400 and create a switch pitch TH400. You just have to replace the single blade bulkhead connector with a two blade, bulkhead connector and wire it up.
@@76629online That's great I didn't know that thanks, I have a st300 I can use as a donor if I want to convert a th400 now. I really did delete the first comment by mistake. If you hearted it I could of copied and pasted it back on from my email.🤷 The shift info should be good though, it's from Telriv if you're familiar with him. He use to deal old Buick parts. He may still not sure he was an older guy in his 70s about 7 or 8 years ago the last time I communicated with him. I did see a post yesterday from him from a year ago though so.....? I wonder if that transition transmission from 64 that might be a switch pitch still has the unique shift pattern and the ability to stay in first until the engine blows? That's the ST400 I would love to get my hands on.😎👍
@@90serawhips-j6o I did. It was way too much work for the value of the return in my opinion. I wouldn't recommend it. Part of the reason is because you can't find these cars in decent enough shape to make them worthwhile when you get done with it. The interiors are trash in them and you can't get those parts.
That's actually an orange juice bottle. It has about of pint of gasoline in it. I use it to put greasy bolts and fasteners in to clean them. I wouldn't advise taking a drink of it either.
I’ve been swinging wrenches for the past 55 years for the military, automotive and industrial. I understand “do what you gotta do” and if you’re afraid to do something you’ll never accomplish anything. I’ve seen some pretty good hack jobs. They always end up as rework. Sir, I assure you there are bearings available for that application and not as expensive as you might think. Hey good luck with your project. And have fun. Keep us posted, please and thank you.
Hello, I have a 1995 Ford Escort LX 1.8 non-Zetec engine, and I have the same fault, I looked for it, ECU, ECM and I didn't see anything, but it gives me this same fault and 7 months of mechanic after mechanic and I haven't been able to do it. work, an important fact is that when you turn on the lights it returns to normal, and when you disconnect the alternator... but if I reconnect the alternator the car crashes after 5 minutes, if anyone has had this problem and please tell me It would be great, I would really appreciate it, it's my first car and my first nail... greetings from Argentina
Both of my 64’s came with v8 turbo 300 with aluminum heads and the 65 Grand Sport had a 401 but back of engine and bell housing was BOP so type casting and the 4 speed trans is cast iron.
Its definitely the switch this happened to the same model but 18v version i found that two wires were touching having worked their way loose from impact of using the gun just tuck them back where they have a groove to slot into and jobs done will obviously have to open the casing up to do this good luck if you havent fixed it already
Could the cars original destination been Maine?? Or somewhere close? An Army buddy of from Maine had a 1987 Escort with no factory AC. No controls for it. Just a thought.
Used to have an 88 IROC Z convertible with a 5.7 manual. I parked the car with 40k miles on it. It was mint. Ended up selling it for $7,500 back in the late 2000s. Ended up finding the car recently at an antique car dealership. They want $64,995 for the car. They claim it's one of the rarest IROCs ever made, and the only one in its condition.
@@76629online Go find an 88 IROC convertible 5.7 manual with 40k miles. This is a true unicorn in the Camaro world. They don't exist anymore. They didn't make that many to begin with and they either got wrecked, blew motors and wound up left to rot in junkyards or collectors bought them while in good condition.
