Hella good save! It is baffling as to whatever could’ve caused them rings to seize into grooves that much… that said tho, it could’ve been from having just the right conditions of decay/corrosion factors, that allows steel and aluminum to infuse together. I’ve had to entirely destroy distributor from blocks, literally drilling out remaining aluminum of neck, after busting off upper portion and removing shaft, due to such bonding issues between steel and aluminum

Yep, me too. This engine sat up in storage for nearly 40 years. It was low miles and so all the clearances were tight which just made it worse.

@@76629online That actually makes even more sense to/of the “how the heck?” question. I originally sub’d/liked all of your vid upload content pertaining to your ‘55 Buick Super 4Dr that you acquired back in 2018. Came back into your channel to see if I’d missed any updates on that project, since getting her running, after remarrying her back onto her Dynaflow and so forth.. didn’t find anything very recent. I own two ‘55 Super Coupe’s, both w/factory a/c.. one I purchased @ the same time you scored yours and, ironically looks like it’s doppelgänger, per rust/patina! Was intended to be a parts donor car for the other one ‘but’, as things go with us gear-heads, I’ve grown a soft spot for wanting to get that VERY rusty, VERY patina car up and going as a daily driver, incorporating all of the worst conditioned parts, per “brightwork”, including bumpers, saving its original parts of these, for the other Super Coupe that’s extremely slowly being restored all original & stock. I used to drive around in the first one, after getting it running pretty good, back @ 2002 thru-into the winter of ‘05, when #7 piston decided it had enough & preferred being in 800 pieces 😭. So, once I got passed that engine’s passing away funeral mourning process & mustered up regained interest in it, just sitting off to the side, knowing all along that it needed a full restoration anyways, I finally got to dissecting the entire car, @ 2009.. acquired #2 Super with rust/cancer in 2018, via eBay, from Tuscan, Az., delivered to me in Riv., Ca. having no idea of exactly what condition it’s 322 Nailhead was in, other then knowing its radiator, fan shroud, fan, water pump and, generator had already grown leg’s previously… I already had extras of all them parts, CORRECT for factory a/c. Anyways, digging into THAT Nailhead, revealed similar stuck valve issues of yours PLUS, at least two if not more, VERY seized pistons! 🤬😭.. that one’s still headless and have cyl’s soaking with penetrating chemicals.. until I can get back to it. My personal projects always seem to take FOREVER, with working on everyone else’s projects.. for reg income 😩
