How is your Angrax only gold 1? Hopefully your Rotbone keeps him alive on LRE tracks 😂 And I just got Rotbone from a 10 pull so I’m rushing him. Had enough shards to make him epic 3 and now committed to him with onslaught rewards 😂
I didn't need to build him further for Chaos Onslaught, and didn't really expect to max out Power stages in LREs until I'd get Rotbone... And now that I have Rotty, I have other Power heroes to go with him... 😅
Well, I did it with some serious bullgrot RNG with Bellator and Thaddeus in "my" run. Sarquael instead of Bellator may work better. Yarrick may also work (more actions every turn). In the end you will want to get rid of as many Guards as possible on T1 by overkilling / Combat Fatigue triggers...
Ah, yeah, Creed giving Yarrick's boys and his own an extra action can be powerful, and puts a LOT of fake targets on the board. 😊 Glad you found your own way to clear the stage! Hmm, on watching the vid again now, maybe on the last turn going melee with Baraqiel (3 punches - one splashes the other Terminator, two hopefully kill the primary target) might be better than shotgunning them.
I can comfortably get to 200k damage with Eldryon, Maugan Ra, Aethana, Jain Zar and Ragnar. D3 apart from G1 JZ. Still seems a bit underperforming for a D3 team when can do 300-400k on other Legendaries (more on Hive Tyrant/Tervigon).
It gets better if you swap out Jain (or possibly Maugan) for Aun'shi and have Ragnar go hard twice in the fight, at least that's more or less what our Ragnar specialists do here. 😊
@@caoryn though jz great for mining out of autofire arc to rear or side with infiltrate, also better range gets to rear often and piercing ignores the armour penalty, so not sure how it compares, might have to try it next run
Yeah, Jain is good for the utility, but at least at the lower levels you can tank one or two of the BRRRT volleys, and with good positioning you can usually avoid the zone with at least some characters and shut the Superwatch down. Then again, my experience with Ragnar against the Tonk is limited to the replays our Ragnarfan shares and seeing them big damages he does - to play it yourself is a different matter completely. 😅
My Sibyll sucks, so I didn't want to use her for her group infiltrate even though the game is practically begging the player to do this... I put VT on the front line then just drop Barq in between him and the two Havocs on turn 1. They overwatch with melee and they are usually blocked anyway. From there I think it's just good timing and using characters that get their damage output from the deployment zone to the barrel/bloodletter area before the lightning timer expires...which I struggled with initially. Anyone with 2 move is out of the question here (Certus...).
Yeah, the Havocs' Overwatch at melee is laughable, and doesn't even suppress. Your point about pushing in is why I teleported Barry behind the Havocs, and, well, I still found a way to make Certus work here. ☺
@@caoryn Yeah I watched your video after I did mine...probably could clean mine up and get the 100 from Lightning and I will depending on the token situation. My goal is to 3 medal as much as I can...I have never been able to even 1 star the final mission on these but this is only my 3rd-4th one. It would be great to be able to farm the last mission on these.
I'm sure you could manage to max the stage. 😊 But yeah, getting all the medals (especially if you bought the quest offer) and farming the legendary or faction-specific upgrades is probably more valuable if you can't max the whole quest out.
Thx caoryn, I was trying the tactics of nox while I was waiting for you videos, and thank God you don't rely on the use with zarquael (in rare 4), great video and thanks for all the guides
Understandable, he is a somewhat niche hero (Quests and some LREs - All Piercing, Max 1 Hit) and generally suffers from obsolescence when you get Isabella. That makes him a low priority for development, sadly.
3/10 - ouch! This event is feeling like a (wide) roster check so far. It's reasonable to have every owned hero at B1 but that isn't really sustainable at S1 and G1. I'm afraid I'm going to run into a stage that I don't have the right hero leveled for. And I have no Imperial badges after building the AdMech team.
Aye. I can't help but see a subtle nudge of "Well, if you had bought more stuff for our free-to-play game, maybe you'd have an easier time!" The older players will probably be fine, so far the quest was clearable with relatively high priority heroes (Godswyl and Thaddeus to unlock campaigns and racepafe people in the TA, Sarquael is unfarmable but probably still somewhat gottable from Requisitions and very good in PvP...), but the newbies getting stumped at Uncommon already is harsh.
Howdy man, appreciate the good data as always. I’m a bit concerned: has your viewer count took a hit since Nandi started doing this same type of video? But again: as always: Super appreciate you giving the tips and strats to the rest of the community so we can tackle this type of thing.
In a way. The views per quest are roughly the same, maybe depending on the quest's difficulty, but definitely getting fewer new subscribers now, which is what I need if I want to get the channel monetised. Then again, the last quest overlapped with the LRE vids, and that combined got about the same views as the quests usually do (but it wasn't all that difficult, so people probably didn't need the help).
Well, I do spend BS on the quests, but I'm not buying it with real cash, so I'm "F2P enough", aye. Which is why the uploads take a while sometimes - I got stuck on Epic 2 for half a day now on "natural" regeneration. Boy is that stage an RNG-fest if I want to limit my roster (to Incisus, Bellator and sadly Thaddeus - Certus just DIDN'T WORK).
I think it is incredibly strange these mechanics exist for such minor additional rewards. I think this game mode is one of the dumbest. I would trade salvage tokens for onslaught all day long.
@@caoryn That is not to say that I didn't enjoy the rest of the video. I found it particularly funny because it was so on-brand. Like, "Here is video proof of a jump pack. Flying ability confirmed." 😁
I suppose it was a decent bit of unscripted inspiration at that moment, and won't say I didn't have a bunch of ideas for a better punchline since (i.e. "Yep, that seems to check out..."). ☺
I suppose the "kill me and I leave you presents, don't kill me, and the presents will eat your face every turn" passive mechanic is kinda interesting. And annoying.
Yeah. To be perfectly honest, despite getting ducked hard, I enjoyed the Orks and "honorary Orks" team much more than the usual one, too. Partly because I knew I was gonna not have a good time and was more willing to just hit WAAAGH and roll with it, and party because it wasn't the stale same old thing every time. Also, not meeting any Ragnar teams helped. Some time ago I recorded and uploaded a few TA games playing as the Ultramarines (Indomitus team, really), and as the Necrons, and those were kinda fun against the "nonmeta" teams as well. I really think SP could introduce a mode with limited / pre-built rosters and it might be legit fun. Then again, that would not incentivise people to buy requisitions and what not, so SP is disincentivised to do that, sadly.
Just curious, I know Varro isn’t anyone’s favourite but would he do better instead of Calandis alongside the TG? Good for helping finish off targets that Nerdobug didn’t finish off. Could keep his active til a later turn to clear enemies and help push other characters forwards if needed.
I dislike modern Doom need for finishing moves in order to get health. This game is a worthy successor of Doom. Also fits perfectly with bloody / insane WH40k climate. Minor downside, mobs spawn out of nowhere on back too often. Doom had a nice way of hidden rooms triggering to open with monsters when player enter certain areas. Still this is way better than so many so called triple A titles. Just a Good game.
I agree on the Glory Kills to recover being weird. The teleport-ins on your backside are annoying indeed, but Doom and Doom Too had that as well, although mostly in the later WADs - it's a genre staple. And I think part of what makes Boltgun so good is that it doesn't try to stun you with graphics, there is no overcomplicated story, no agenda. Just pure unadulterated gameplay like it was in the golden age of gaming (early 90's as far as I'm concerned).
@@caoryn Yeah, i never cared much for graphic in video-games, game-play and performance matter to me most. The "Glory Kills" for me were unnecessary addition of gore and took me out of fluent game-play. Similar to today's Mortal Kombat X-ray moved during match, i don't mind bloody-finishers at the end, but during fight its just not good.
Yup. Much more satisfying to gib an imp in D1 with a rocket launcher instead. I found that I get much more enjoyment from older games than from many of the new ones, and it can't all just be chalked down to nostalgia.
At least in PvE he is very bad. When I am forced to use him in a mission I send him into a corner to not get involved in the fight, or else he dies immediately and I lose 3* rating. Thank goodness Burchard can carry the entire team.
Yeah, I have the same problem with my B1 Godswyl in Elite Mirror Octarius. 😅 But to be completely fair to Godswyl, that is because I haven't built him enough to be able to take on the S3-G2 units. Based off my experience in the TA, where he is quite popular because of the retardicity that is Ragnar, and now in the quest, he is, in fact, quite tanky and hits pretty darn hard when he is built to comparable levels with his opponents. It's just that by the time you get Godswyl you usually have someone more convenient built higher already and don't want to invest in Godswyl. He is somewhat niche (PvP, mostly - the one boss where he'd be decent at with Thoread and maybe Vitruvius behind him, Mortarion, is a pretty hard counter to melee), but he is pretty good at that, actually.
Thing is other than the D2 Bellator my next developed Imperial hero is a G3 Ragnar and then I get to a few G1s which I wasn't sure could do it - I do want to max the event, after all. 😅 I have successfully swapped out Isabella for Incisus so far and have that on record, will keep experimenting.
@@caoryn Do not worry about it. I brought my diamond Calgar, used his active on T2, and dealt with the remaining peanuts. It was done from the first attempt.
I'm not worried, the stage itself is kinda easy... I just am not happy with a no-holds-barred solution because that's more or less going against the spirit of "let's see if the common heroes can clear this". But I don't have them built enough, I think, and they're low priority because other events and modes. 😥
Apparently so. 😂 I only have him at S1, 31/31, my only use for him so far was to whack a few Poxwalkers at Corrodius and rage at people for bringing him to TA against me. 😅
Yeah. I kinda dislike his power / survivability ratio. He can take a few shots from glass cannons and one-shot a tank, I find that just too good in a PvP setting. Possibly necessary, to make melee viable, but... Well, there's a reason we say "don't bring a knife to a gunfight".
I have not enjoyed this event. Too many of the fights are puzzles. I like the mechanics that encourage a wide roster by adding the artificial challenge of adjusting your party comp for more points. But I don't like it when the challenge is sequencing a turn in a specific order and needing a crit or enemy pathing to be successful.
I like the puzzle fights more than the stand-and-fight stages - I like puzzles and brain teasers in general. But yeah, I dislike it when the puzzle itself depends on RNG. The pathing / enemy action order is usually predictable, or refinable in the followup runs, when you take note of what order the AI moves in (that doesn't seem to change in a given stage) and so on. That's not to say you are wrong - we each have our own preferences, and that is perfectly fine. 😊
@@caoryn I can't tell what tiles are connected. This fucks me all the time on summons. I can't believe the UI, two years in, does not show you the tiles the summons will go when you are targeting.
That's been one of my gameplay gripes too, yeah. I got most of the arena maps sorta memorised, but the random campaign ones, nah. Adding a toggleable overlay like the danger zone has been suggested so, so very many times...
@@caoryn I think it's easier than that. When you click a hex, have the border be a different shade (darker or lighter) and/or thickness to show that they are connected, melee ok / move without flying
You can also use ulf for epic 1, just kill the marine with ulf active then position your units in a line to bait the screamers to use their skill in front of ulf
I was thinking about it when I was editing - I wasn't sure whether they count as summons or not. Scarabs always do, but Bloodletters don't always do, for example. Edit: Ah, you're not baiting out the summon part but the active ability part, that's GENIUS!
