Hey Friends! “Wildflower” here! I’m a huge nature junkie and LOVE long distance backpacking. I’m a 54 year old married Grandma. I’ve thru hiked several trails and have been chipping away at the Pacific Crest Trail in long sections (lash). I love nature photography which includes photographing and identifying wildflowers duh! 🥰😂

I strongly believe that age is only a number and our bodies are capable of doing physically challenging adventures and sports well into our senior years.

Thank you for subscribing to my channel. I am excited to take you along with me on many epic adventures! Shenanigans await!

Get out and create the life you love!

Hugs
Wildflower 🌻

Do you ever have to go back and fix the first stake? It seems like when you put that second stake in, it would pull that fist guy line out of line. Or does it get corrected when the last stake (fourth stake) is put in?

A PVC pipe end cap helps push in the tent stakes without hurting your hand and weighs very little.

Great idea, showing the position of the 2nd stake. Thank you. I was at Hawk on March 11th this year and I also walked across the GGB from SF! After Hawk, I continued on and did Haypress and then Centennial. Hiked to Sausalito and returned to SF via the ferry.

What type of coozy do you use to rehydrate your food or do you rehydrate it in the pot? I have a homemade coozy that I use to "insulate" the freezer bag, but was just wandering if you have a better method.
@TheWanderingWildflower
@TheWanderingWildflower 3 месяца назад
I just use an empty Mylar bag similar to what store bought freeze dried meals come in. I have also made and used the homemade koozie and would recommend that for dehydrated meals. Most freeze dried meals rehydrate much easier and don’t need insulation. 🌻

I’ve been having MIC issues. One “buzzed” and the new one didn’t fit my phone without taking off the case. Having a good, mic is the only way with the wind. I’m hoping I get all the gear shenanigans figured out before I hit the trail :-)

Used to be a fan of the BRS 3000t but then it failed me on a (luckily) short hike. Not sure what the problem was but it was at about 9000 feet and it was cold. The stove simply would not light. Back home at sea level, it lit with the same canister just fine. This was after about 14 days total of use. On the next hike, I took a different cheap Chinese stove, and the first thing that I noticed is that it used far less fuel than the BRS. I then did some research and found that a Jetboil stove used even less than the 2nd stove, and I've used 1 or 2 different models of those since. Bottom line, even if you disregard the quality issues, you aren't saving any weight with the BRS; whatever weight you save on the hardware you will lose carrying more fuel.
@TheWanderingWildflower
@TheWanderingWildflower 3 месяца назад
Ugh. That’s a bummer. Ironically, I used BRS many, many years ago, and pocket rocket, then Jetboil Stash (most fuel efficient stove ever). Now I’m back to BRS 🤦‍♀️.

Right?! I thought so too! I learned about it yesterday and I was 🤯. I just happen to have a light colored pot sack 🙌 It puts off a LOT more light than I thought. It lit up my entire bathroom. And that was with fairy lights. A headlamp it would be even brighter!

No. That’s dirt from The last trip. But yes it’s a well used tent, over 1k miles. The only hole I have is from a squirrel but that’s not what you’re seeing lol. I patched that up and that’s on the side walls of bathtub not on the bottom.

With the Pro, I've been doing the alt pitch... zip both sides. Stake out the non-zipper ends first decently tight. That seems to get the zippered corners at a good starting point. Maybe it's how the DCF doesn't stretch as much as the silpoly.

California Bluebell has a cousin that grows in the same area. It looks similar but less bell shaped. I've seen them growing next to each other. Parry's Phacelia (Phacelia parryi).Video 10:12, Whipple Yucca (Hesperoyucca whipplei) is not a Yucca. It's other name is Our Lord's Candle. You missed the Brittle Brush (Encelia farinosa). It kind of looks like white sage but it has spade shaped leaves and is covered in yellow sunflowers as opposed to the white sage with elongated leaves and flowers grows on tall stalks. Two bonus bushes Chamise (Adenostoma fasciculatum) is similar to California Buckwheat, but grows taller and has lighter small green leaves of similar shape. Ceanothus aka California Lilac, and White Thorn is a large bush will see early on trail, within a couple of miles, and it is in bloom!
