I have bought one of these magnetic hangers from DAC , I am so scared to chop the sides of my canvas off though . I would like no white showing top or bottom though, would it be possible to paint it? Have you ever tried that? It’s a gorgeous kit ❤
@@sharonmarie66 yes. I have painted it black. I tried going over with white paint but wasn’t able to get it covered up. The black paint works well. I can do a video on that sometime too. I just use paint pens so it’s less messy and no clean up. You can see some of those in my quarterly review video. But the removing of ink with the alcohol works well too. Like I said: it does thin out the canvas a bit but not terribly so, and then it provides a plain white border. I probably would not have cut off the edges if the magnetic wood pieces were long enough to cover the sides too, but since the one I bought wasn’t, I chopped it off. It isn’t fraying yet and hopefully it won’t. But I guess I’ll find out in time
Congrats on becoming an affiliate! The volume was fantastic today, I was easily able to go from another video to this one with no volume change. Thanks for doing this review, I was just looking at these trays just a little bit ago.
Thank you for all your supportive comments. I really appreciate you continuing to let me know how I’ve been doing on the volume so I’ll keep doing what I think I did in this video. Thanks so much
We don't have dryer sheets in Europe 😕 have used the alcohol. It helps when I kit up, but feels like the drills get static again after a while. Would love to have dryer sheets.
No dryer sheets in Europe? I did not know that. I wonder if there’s something similar you could use 🤔 🤷♀️ I’d been afraid that would happen which is why I do both. I’ve had people tell me just don’t need to do both, and maybe I don’t, but I like to be cautious. And with you now saying they get staticy again, I’m glad I do have the dryer sheets. Thanks for watching and letting me know
@@Rubies_And_Moonstones there are probably chemicals in it that are not allowed here. Are so many things in food items or other things in the US that are not allowed here. I wish I had dryer sheets though. It would make it so much better I think. Don't know if we have anything that can be used instead. Haven't seen anyone talking about anything else then rubbing alcohol in the Norwegian and European DP groups.
@@Rubies_And_Moonstones don't know if the chemicals that are banned is for the environment or our health, but our government is serious about both. Like there are something in the American bread that are banned here because there is alot of evidence it causes canser. But for the American government it's not enough proof to ban it. Maybe they don't care that much because they don't have to pay for people's health care. But sometimes it can suck to not have all the things you guys have, like dryer sheets lol. Or all the kinds of cereal. We just have a few, and most of them are boring haha.
You have the most beautiful weather there. I have the cold/snow/ice we get in the winter. Plus, living in tornado alley, I could never buy a house without a basement.
That’s awesome! I was using my grandma’s dining room table (with an easel), but have since moved to a drafting table in the basement. I thought it’d give me my dining room table back, but now I use it for other things: like framing/painting edges, etc 🤷♀️ at least it’s easier to clean up
I love all the colors!! That’s one of the reasons I got it. But the design is so neat. I can’t wait to do this one either. Waiting until closer to Halloween
I’m so excited to do it! I haven’t started yet. I have the enhancements too but just haven’t gotten that one out yet. I almost did this last round… but I don’t 🤷♀️ I love it though. Such beautiful colors.
@@Rubies_And_Moonstones I also forgot to mention that the volume did seem better this time! I didn't have to ramp up much higher than I would otherwise.
@@Buffylove27 thank you!!! I tried to turn up my volume as high as possible, and really turn down the notifications even more. Glad it seemed to help. Seriously: thank you so much for that feedback
Love the colour palettes of these kits! Question: Do you angle your work surface. If so what table/device are you using for that. I have started to get some muscle pain from working flat on my dining room table.
I actually just responded to a similar comment from you on another video so I won’t repeat myself here. But yes: I have always worked on an angled surface.
@@Rubies_And_Moonstones Thanks. I’ll look for your other response. Just cast my net wide today in order to find a way to work for long sittings without having pain.
Love these videos! I learn a lot as I progress on my DP journey. Any comment about working on larger canvases without experiencing pain in my ribs and back? Do people work large canvases flat or raised large. How do you raise the canvas if I don’t have a large easel?
Did you see the video I did on large canvases and heavy confetti? It’s in my tips and tutorials playlist. But… I’ve always used an easel and now a drafting table. I know plenty of people dp flat, but I can’t do it or I’d have neck pain and migraines. The easel really helped until I decided to invest in a drafting table. You can get easels in a variety of sizes so maybe look for one that fits your space? 🤷♀️ and then if you watch that video, I made a clipboard with Velcro to help me keep the painting at the height I wanted it to work on. My mom uses a smaller easel with a light board. She’s now gotten an A2 but originally used an A3 light pad and that worked well for her. She just decided to get a bigger light pad when the first one died. Not sure if any of that is helpful. Maybe I’ll do a video with my actual easel and not my drafting table to show how I made that work. Thanks for watching!
@@Rubies_And_Moonstones I appreciate your comments and suggestions. I will look around for something suitable. I love getting into the rhythm of DP and want to keep the pleasure in this new-to-me hobby. While working on smaller canvases I did not experience any discomfort but the larger canvas requires a strong core! This might be the impetus for me to get into better shape 😂.. I love your videos and will watch for a mention of the easel and the drafting table.
@@leslieviner ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-QFE0P1HVC0E.htmlsi=UH_7QYuhs0mztMUN Here’s a link to the video I did so far with my drafting table but that was converted from my easel so it works both ways I feel you on the pain. I have to be sure to take movement breaks and working on an incline is also super important so I don’t strain my neck. I also have a comfortable office chair I’m using now which is much better than my old dining room table chair I was using before. Good luck! Hope you find something that works for you
Happy Belated Mother’s Day. I enjoy your long video’s, I’m usually diamond painting while listening. As of today you have 500 subscribers, congratulations to you. You were talking about metal tips, I use the DAC single placer. I used to use the other type of metal single placers but when I started using DAC’s, I was hooked. The thing that I like is that the opening is small like the brass tips but do not bend like the brass tips and also with the small opening when you place drills the other drills don’t get pushed. They fit 2 micro glue dots perfectly, and I like to hear the pop also. You are so very lucky to still have your mother, mine passed in 2009, and I miss her dearly. Enjoy her always because we are not promised another day. One day you will hopefully be a grandmother and be able to do the spoiling, look forward to that. I still remember when I was young, my mom, dad, my brother and I went to Disney Land and I had a Mickey Mouse hat with the ears. I miss those times of my youth but we all have to grow up. Looking forward to your next video and to see what you are working on. 😺
Thank you for such a nice message! And holy moly! I just saw I had 502 subscribers now! Cannot believe it!! Never thought this would happen. I do feel so lucky to still have my parents: especially since my husband has already lost both of his. I’m terrified to lose them. I know it will happen but really hope it’s not for a long time. I’m hoping to get to see them more now they’re retiring. I’m so glad you enjoy my videos and listen as you diamond paint too. I need to make another one now. Well several actually. Just need to tie some stuff up at work and then I can start having a summer. 😁 Thanks again! Talk more soon I’m sure 👍
(Also, love that you’re up super early in the morning like me. Are you in the states? I’m on central time and am always up diamond painting at 3-4am 🤷♀️
Thank you for hosting!!! I love participating in events I hope I gave you appropriate credit. I’m new to all of this, so if there’s anything I should do differently/better, would you please let me know? And maybe that’s more an email conversation 🤷♀️ Thank you for watching and commenting. Mandie Manzano was the first diamond painting artist I really got obsessed with, and this is my first year doing this event. I’m so happy you have one for her work. Thank you so much!!! (I’ve started a 2nd one now, since I finished. Cinderella faster than I expected 😁)
They are not. But I got them from a store that listed them as such so it’s disappointing. That being said: I’ve since gotten “real” EW and cannot tell a difference at all. So I just bought another one off Temu to save some money and am going to stop worrying about it not being name brand. I seriously notice no differences. Maybe I’ll make a video on it 🤔
I enjoy using the release papers as well. I like that it “hides” the part of the canvas I’m not working on. Makes it feel a little less overwhelming and kind of makes each new section a “surprise” of sorts. Great tips!!
I agree. The first release papers I got were too transparent so I got more opaque ones. That’s the one downside of just using washi: I see all the same colors I’m not getting in the next section and just want to open it up and finish my tray. 🤷♀️ hard to know which way is best. Depends on the canvas for me I think. Thanks for watching and sharing/commenting
Hey Rubies...Gems here😊...just found your channel & loved listening & loved all you shared about Mother's Day & your Mom ❤...Thank you. I am off today & have spent the day home alone being as quiet as a mouse while sorting thru a giant tote of papers & prob 3 yrs. worth of filing...ugh! So glad to hear ur Mom IS your Bestie. Mine was my Bestie & my biggest cheerleader toooo...and I'm so glad u appreciate family & esp. ur Mom most recently. Keep sharing! ❤ This filing stuff is for the birds, lol....I gotta go DP now! But you do great! And you are obviously a great Mom/Daughter/Teacher...Hope the summer starts soon for you so you can enjoy DP'ing & family fun! 😁👍
Thanks so much for the tips and great explanations. I’m fairly new to diamond painting so enjoy listening to other ways of doing things. I also work in squares and just find it so much easier. Thanks again 🤗🤗
Give a mouse a cookie and they will diamond Paint all day long! 😄🐭🍪💎🖌️ I really enjoyed hearing about the products you are using! I’m always curious as to what works for people, and perhaps it’s something I haven’t tried or heard of before 👍🏻
Happy mother's day Gretchen! I love listening to your WIP while I am working on my DA project! Congratulations on all of your subscribers!!! That being said, one thing I have never liked was a mouse anywhere near me. A character mouse like Mikey or Minnie I absolutely love!
Happy belated Mothers day. I just found your channel a few days ago and kinda been binge watching 😂 My one cat decided to bring a mouse that she caught outside the other day🤦♀️😂 as long as its not a snake ill be fine😂. Thank you so much for the opportunity!!
Thank you for watching! I’m so happy you found my channel and are joining me on this crazy experience! I’m so honored by all of the subscribers and that you’re “binge watching” is such a compliment. Thank you so much! I hope to post a lot more this summer 🤞
Happy Mother's Day y'all from Cleveland, TX. We don't have a big mouse problem here, and the snakes are well fed. I just found your page today, I was looking for DIY diamond canvas- framing help. I loved your video on "The Astronomer." I'm working on Cheryl Baker's "The Pumpkin Herder."
Thank you! I’ve been trying to learn about framing too. I am planning to make some videos soon about what I’ve done so far and hopefully a mounting type method I still need to try out. So far, on most, I just paint the edges or remove the ink (depending on if I think black or white looks better), but I want to mount my Lorenz birds so that’s what I’m going to practice and I’ll post showing it if it works🤞
Hi Gretchen, thanks for the informative video. I have an XXL wooden easel and at the top of it I inserted a pool noodle on the edge, that I cut a slit into, to keep my canvas from creasing as I move it up and it falls over the edge. I also use a very large piece of foam board, 24”x36”, on my easel and then put my light pad on top of that and it makes the surface area way larger. I only use the foam board when I have large canvases and use my A2 light pad and then for smaller ones I take the foam board off and use my A3 light pad. I also use a tray tower because I like the convenience of just grabbing a tray when I need it. Hope some of this helps. 😺
Thank you! I love these ideas. I’m going to have to remember to share these in a follow up. Sounds like your foam board is similar to how I use that clipboard tray. I actually bought a bunch of foam board (various sizes) when I bought the clipboard tray, thinking of using them the same way but went with the extra large clipboard Using an easel is so helpful to me! I don’t know how people diamond paint flat. That would hurt my neck if I did it too long. The drafting table has been amazing though. I’m so happy I have the room for it and was able to switch. Thanks so much for your comment and for watching. I’m always going to remember you were my first giveaway winner. That’s really special to me. Thanks again
That was a great chat, I was working on a diamond dotz canvas called hummingbird while listening to you. It was funny that you said that you get the sniffles while diamond painting, so do I. I’m glad I’m not the only one, lol . Have a great day.😺
Awesome video! Thank you so much for sharing it with us. I like sectioning my canvas too and used a ceramic blade for the last 3 years. I started using a seam ripper instead a few months ago and am totally in love with how easy it is to use it. I taught my 12 year old how to use it too and am happy she can now do her sections without me helping or supervising her anymore. We work our canvases the same as you so I am really glad to have watched your video. I am always looking for better ways to do confetti faster 😅 lol Thank you so much 😊
Thank you so much. A lot of people have been telling me about the seam ripper so I just ordered one and am going to try it too. I’m excited for my daughter to do some with me but she’s a bit too little yet. I did get her some princess key chains to try first. 🤷♀️
I have thought about that. The only thing stopping me is I don’t like it when the light pad isn’t covered by the whole canvas (when I’m just starting one, I usually don’t have it up too high) and the extra light that comes off the light pad can bother my eyes. But… it would be nice to not have to move the light pad around so much and have a bigger working space. Especially with my tray minder: I sometimes don’t have enough room for it where I’m working to stay on the light pad. I’m going to look into this again now though. Thanks
Hi Gretchen, good to hear you chatting. Your last video inspired me to kit up a Mandie Manzano as well 😀 so I'm now working on Lady Creole , an older kit. But I am so much slower than you are. By the way, yesterday was also my Mom's birthday, so we had some prime time with her. She turned 86. ❤ How do you explain English students that the plural of mouse and louse are mice and lice, but houses are not hice??😂😂 I remember having a lively discussion once about that question 😂
🤣 thank you! I’m glad you had such a special day. And love that you’re doing a Manzano painting too!! I’m really a fan of some of her older works. I’m eager to see some new stuff come out that’s a different line. And I have no idea how to explain English. It’s such a weird language. It makes me laugh when I see people trying to explain all those similar spellings but one letter makes it sound completely different. 🤷♀️
I have been really enjoying your videos. My only constructive criticism is that the sound is quite, sometimes as quite as a mouse. I have my Bluetooth almost at max, and then any notifications, or autoplays then come in blaring. Congrats to your 250+ subscribers!
Thank you so much! I’ve noticed that with the sound too and have been trying to fix it. I don’t know why my voice is so quiet. I have a microphone. So I’ve tried to really lower the volume on those notifications and any music. Do you think it’s gotten any better over time? Or was this one just as bad? Thank you. I really do appreciate the advice and support. I want to do better and don’t want to turn someone off because of something like this. If you keep listening, I’d sure appreciate you continuing to let me know if the volume is a problem or if it’s getting better. Thanks again!!!
@Rubies_And_Moonstones This time was better than other videos...and I am no RU-vid expert, but sometimes lowering the volume that is being recorded makes it able to play louder? Does that even make sense? I'm enjoying the content, so I will keep watching and updating you occasionally (if there is a big difference, I'll let you know right away.)
