Very badly burnt branches & you still have a lot of hope for them.. you’re very brave, strong willed & so hopeful.. you’re very inspiring .. i have created same as what you have & six more roses arrived.. all thanks to your beautiful garden & your efforts to keep them alive in very firey situation .. i have watched millions of gardens… but.. the only one i liked out of all of them was your garden & i went ahead & created same
@@queenofrosethorns can you please put more videos on as i just love your garden & have created the same & watch all your videos over & over “ everyday “..your’s is the best gardening the world.. lots of love from Luton Bedfordshire England 🏴
The drip system should cover you. You can play with timing based on soil/sun. If you have sandier soil, I would go with daily for about an hour or so. Personally i do every other day for several hours (2-4 or more if i forget). If you have 'normal' or more clay in the soil i would try for the ever other day.
Very good show, thanks! You had some unhappy roses that, unfortunately, looked all-too-familiar to me lol. Great job bringing 'em back! An investment in a 2 gallon pump sprayer will pay off in treatment options as well as expense, . In the hot and humid northeast I gave up on just organic pest control for roses. I now use Rose Pride, neem, & insecticidal soap. And a systemic. There used to be an Ortho product called Orthenex that worked like a charm, but it's no longer available.
A few years ago we bought a home with beautiful rose bushes in the back yard. We had very young kids at the time (still do), but life is easy enough for me to really start taking care of them. I'm hoping it becomes something my 4 year old daughter and I do together. This video was incredibly helpful. Thank you for making it. I do have a question. At the beginning of the video you commented that your soaker hose was above ground. It made me think that you could possibly bury them slightly beneath the surface. Do you have any thoughts on that or potential problems with doing so that I might not be thinking of given that I'm less than a week into researching the topic. THANK YOU AGAIN!
Thank you!!! Yes, that would be great to do with your daughter 🌞🌹 No, you cannot bury a soaker hose, but there are irrigation systems that you can bury. They are common here in Phoenix -- the buried drip systems -- however, I do like the 'above ground' soaker hose option so that i can tell if something is leaking/busted/watering evenly. I do place a little mulch over the top from time to time and it will somewhat hide them. I am very glad you found this helpful -- good luck in your gardening endeavors!
@@queenofrosethorns That makes a lot of sense. And when I made this comment, I hadn't installed the hose yet and thought it would be more of an eye sore than it is. Mulch has naturally obscured it and it looks great. AND MY ROSE BUSHES LOOK AMAZING! THE OLD LADIES AT THE ROSE GARDEN CLUB WON'T KNOW WHAT HIT THEM!!!!!! Thank you thank you thank you
I am in zone 9b and am on a search for a lavender rose. Full sun. This one seems to do well in a hot climate like mine. It gets humid here. Blue girl seems to be a good candidate for me.
Do you have any info on damask roses kasanlik & Omar Khayyam please.. because they’re just getting bigger & bigger from baby stage & no flowers first yr… could it be that they have H & W 8 ft. by 8 ft & flower on lady yr’s wood please?
My “ snazee “..( your ketchup & mustard rose ) is 6-7 inches in England.. first bloom .. you’re right.. it’s a giant flower in cooler conditions..i bought it after seeing this video
If you give this rose at 3.33 Westland’s feed with horse manure.. even the nearly dead one of my roses from 1995 came back to life with sprouts all over the place.. it’s a completely fresh green picture now
We had 22 degrees today & i was sweating buckets sitting down on lawn cutting grass with a pair of scissors ( just so that i can listen to the birds singing).. & i thought no wonder u just let it be at times
I’ve ended up buying 150 rose bushes inspired by this most beautiful garden this beautiful lady has created.. i got damasks, mosses, Centifolias, bourbons, hybrid musks.. all sorts.. already had DA roses from 2016 & some from 1994 & 1995.. she’s very very inspiring indeed .. happy gardening from London England 🏴
I loved reading your story! That sounds really really beautiful Wow! I’m so glad that I found this channel and the community:):):) My garden is beautiful but was missing roses. We just cleared some area and I think that’s a perfect spot for roses. So thank you for sharing!!! ❤ from North Carolina, USA
@@queenofrosethorns I have far too many to mention yet.. they are all about to flower.. i will tell u which ones the rest are .. damask in India took my breath away.. i ordered every damask going.. u want to see the moss roses buds … magical
Beautiful! I’m in Scottsdale. What kind of light do your roses get. I have one rose that gets intense morning light and it just burns the blooms. It is the first year, planted bare root in February, maybe they’ll toughen up? They are in containers so I can move them. I’m trying to find the line between enough sun and too much sun. It’s a very thin line in The Valley. Thanks!
Thank you!!🌹🌞 I took this footage last month and just got it edited and posted, but yes, this time of year the blooms are not looking as good for me as well with the heat. My roses are all in ground (not containers) and mostly get full sun, some a bit of shade. I believe morning sun with afternoon shade is best. As they get older than can shade themselves better, but overall I find summer to be a 'winter' here. I do have a couple of videos on my channel that show how my roses look in the summer (not good) so you can get an idea: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--KydeCPp4so.html & ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-YMZyqUnDt-o.html
Your roses look well shaded. For someone in Phoenix with roses hit with direct sun all day in summer, would you suggest a sunscreen hung overhead? Any specific percentage? Nurseries here sell 70 percent. Thanks!
Some of my roses do get some shade, but some get full sun. In my opinion, i think once it is July/Aug they all do about the same. If it it cumbersome to provide afternoon shade, i would just make sure they get water and wait until it cools down :)
I'm in 9b California. I really appreciate your suggestions. I have a Peace rose and a Sweet Inspiration and they are already struggling in 90° all day. Wonder if you've ever shaded your roses with other plants? I've placed butterfly bush and pitted trees next to roses in he's it will help, but I don't see any real rosarians doing such a thing.
I do have a Texas Mnt Laurel that gives some shade as well as a rosemary; plus my roses are established and can shade themselves. I think it can help in early summer, but honesty here in Phoenix once it is July/Aug they all just look toasty. 🌞🌹 I change my mindset during summer to just making sure they have enough water and wait for fall for the nice blooms again.
This kind of atmosphere & garden keep yours mind “ peaceful “… gardening is hard work but therapeutic at the same time.. everybody needs this type of beautiful place in their lives … my roses are now reaching well over 150… & i’ve got some roses from 1995..one my dad bought me in 1994 .. he was gone in 2000
LOVE! I agree and was actually going to do a 'gardening as meditation' series for this channel because i think people can really benefit from a zen space and working in the garden. Thank you!
@@queenofrosethorns u should do “ gardening as meditation “.. otherwise most people are tearing their hair off.. everyone’s lives are far too hectic.. therapy is desperately needed in almost everybody’s lives .. the views u are getting just to ogle at your roses are phenomenal .. i have to watch your roses & garden “ everyday “
The man who lived at the above flat then ours had a red HT rose bush in a terracotta pot on the balcony’s ledge in mid sixties in East Africa..i was 3-4..& my 3 sisters used to ask for a rose every morning on their way to school.. he used to fetch a pair of scissors & toss one down..in the evenings when he used to get home from work.. we used to go see him & he would give the rose bush cooled down boiled fish water ( the bush had more flowers then leaves) & give us a thick book with textile material samples in it to look at … i now have 13 different types of red roses… all because of this unforgettable memories
Beautiful! Wow! I would spend all day in a garden like that! So peaceful looking! New subscriber here! Have you or could you do a segment on your statues? They are just as beautiful as the roses! Most of them I recognize. Also, seriously considering the shirt too! Thank you and God bless you!
Thank you so much!!! Yes, most of the statues were cheap from amazon 😜🌹 But I love having them in the space with the roses! I did do a video a couple years ago here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ZU3OQu75zn8.html I may have to do an update, Thanks again!

My Pleasure!🌹 I actually stopped using fertilizer and have gone, i guess, more 'natural'. I did discuss it in this video here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-FBBV_KmJfNs.html
oh my so beautiful!!! You amazed me with your stunning rose garden!!! I didn’t know the roses could do good in AZ - is it too hot for them? Thank you for sharing!❤🌹
I’m surprised that blue girl is doing good here in Utah I’m in zone 6b and so it does very well and I have planted facing north that gets shade from the afternoon sun but the blooms and fragrance is outstanding on that one
